Death's POV
"Explain it to me. Tell me every effort I made in this new life wasn't for naught, Death. Tell me that I didn't just waste my time finding a new person to fall in love with and make a family with." Cece says, her eyes cold and desperate.
That's not a good combination, and I can feel Afra stiffen next to me, as if assessing a new threat that she hadn't thought about, but should have.
I steady Afra, and kiss her temple, gesturing for her to leave so that Cece and I may speak in private.
Afra looks as though she wants to protest, but in the end, she listens and goes off to see our son.
"Look, I thought you were very amusing if I'm being honest Cece. Since the day you found me in that broken down graveyard. You were unlike anyone I had ever met, and for a moment, I thought I was in love with you." I went on, seeing the shock and disbelief crossing over her beautiful features.
