When Terrenter was first formed, the dragons had caused humans, animals and nature to exist. In order for the planet to function, they implemented rules into their systems. Everything in this world was instilled by 'duties'. These duties were the reason why they function as they are.
When Terrenter was first formed, the dragons had wished for humans, animals, and nature to exist. They had implemented rules that allowed this world to become how it is. This law was the reason why humans, animals and nature were the way they are. The dragons created the three nations because they wanted to see lands of different climates. They made the oceans of various hues because they wanted to see such sights.
They also manifested animals and nature that fit the environments of the lands and seas. They manifested humans so that the world can be bustling and have a way to grant wishes. They were inscribed with knowledge about how everything in the world worked. They knew what animals and nature were. They knew how to create and destroy. They were given awareness of the dragons as their creators and that they could grant wishes.
In order to have an orderly world, the dragons had also implemented 'duties' into their souls. The moment life was implanted onto this world, they had a dream about their duties and that would be how they would function. For animals and nature, they gave them their duties to function how they are as people know them. For humans, they were given their individuality and a pre-destined fate that would leave their mark in the world. It was because of these duties that civilization was able to advance for better and for the worse.
Amongst the roles, there was one person who stood out. His role was that of a scholar. He was tasked to create the world's first book that became the foundation of how the world worked. It was called the Conceptualization of Time. It was because of this book that the world functioned through calendars and learned how time worked. He was hailed as a shining star of the world. His name was…
A young boy found it hard to continue writing. His eyes felt heavy, as if he was being lulled to sleep. He was doing his best to fight it off by bobbing and swinging his head in every direction. His long golden locks had danced with every movement. He then stopped moving as he put his pen down. He rubbed his eyes and then let out a big sigh.
"I think that's all for now. I can progress with the book later…"
He stood up from his chair and stretched. The room he was in was a dimly lit one where he only had a lantern in the middle of the table that gave him minimal lighting. He then sniffed something aromatic and savory. His stomach grumbled as he headed towards his door and let himself out of the room he was holed up in.
This smell is definitely fish stew. It's been a while since we had some fish. I can't wait to eat some!
He grabbed the lantern and slowly descended down the stairs to see a few people in the kitchen helping out and preparing for the meal. A boy around his age noticed him. "Oh, you're actually awake for once!"
A young girl teased, "I guess our sleeping beauty can't resist dinner!"
Another young girl turned to a man. "Nova's awake, Aster!"
The man who was cooking the fish, Aster, turned to look at Nova and smiled. "You're awake? Help the girls set up and prepare the table. I'm almost done with the food."
"Yes, sir…"
After setting up, Aster placed the pot at the center of the table. The savory scent instilled a desire to become satiated. They all sat down around the table; in addition to the fish stew, there was a bowl of salad and a plate of bread slices and cheese. Nova sat down next to the other young man while the girls sat next to each other. Aster sat on a chair at the other end of the table.
As Nova picked up his cutlery, he looked at the girl sitting across from him. From the minimal lighting, he could see that she was an Ilacian girl with sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. The girl next to her was also Ilacian, but had gray eyes and ashy blonde hair. Both girls were focused on eating their meal.
Nova reached out for the bread, but was stopped by the boy next to him who also wanted to grab some bread. They looked at each other and chuckled. The boy sitting next to him had dark brown hair and brown eyes, showcasing he was Laminan.
"You can have the bread first, Sirius."
"Nah, you go first. I was mainly getting the cheese."
Nova got the bread and then Sirius grabbed some cheese and ate it as it is. The gray-eyed girl looked at him with disgust, which he caught on.
"What?"
"I don't get how people like cheese. It's just rotten milk bundled together. How can you eat that stuff?" She grumbled as she crunched on some fish bones.
Sirius rolled his eyes. "Well, Ethelinda, maybe don't judge others' food preferences? I sure ain't judging yours!"
"Fish bones are more nutritious than rotten milk curds!"
"Well, don't go gasping for air when a bone gets stuck in your throat!"
Hearing them argue caused Nova to fret. He couldn't concentrate on eating as he was too focused on wondering when he should intervene. The blue-eyed girl took the cue and snapped at them.
"Shut up and eat!"
Both Sirius and Ethelinda muttered, "Yes, Penelope…" as they went back to eat while glaring at each other.
Aster just chuckled. "It sure is lively despite it being so dark!"
Nova glanced over at Aster. He was a man with broad shoulders and disheveled caramel blond hair. At first glance, he would be perceived as an Ilacian due to his hair, but his eyes would make people think otherwise. He possessed unique lavender eyes that made him feel as if he didn't belong in this world.
Penelope sighed. "Don't encourage the fighting; it's going to get worse if you're for it."
"You got to relax, Penelope. It's not good to be so uptight all the time."
Mebsuta teased, "You won't ever get married if you keep being like that!"
Penelope responded by putting peppers into her bowl, causing her to become upset. The others just chuckled. Nova enjoyed the liveliness at the dinner table.
Aster then interrogated Nova, "How is the manuscript coming along? It must be hard to write in the dark, right?"
"It's going well, but it would be nice if the electricity came back…"
Everyone at the table then gave passing glances towards Sirius, who almost choked on his food when he was in the spotlight again. "I said I'll fix it tomorrow!"
"You said that yesterday…" Sirius grumbled.
"And the day before…" Nova whispered.
"And before that too…" Ethelinda muttered.
"It's been a few days…" Penelope remarked.
Aster fretted. "I promise I'll get it fixed tomorrow! I even contacted someone!"
Penelope sighed. "Fine. We'll take your word on it…"
"It does suck that electricity is still a new trend. It's hard to maintain it, even in a small, isolated cottage like this one." Nova remarked. He stood up. "I'm done eating."
"Already?" Sirius was shocked. "You eat so slow, yet you're already done?"
"I'm going to brush my teeth and then work on the manuscript a bit more."
Nova put his empty plate into the sink and then grabbed his lantern to head upstairs. He slowly headed towards a door in the middle of the hallway and opened it. It was a small compartment of a sink, toilet and a bathtub. He placed his lantern on the closed toilet seat and looked at himself in the mirror.
He was a scrawny, dainty looking boy in his adolescent years. He grabbed a comb and brushed his long golden hair that reached down to his upper back and tied it up rather loosely. He grabbed the stray hairs and threw it into the trashbin. He then leaned forward to check up on any sort of gunk in his eyes. His eyelashes were as golden as his hair; they were long, so he had his own concerns because stray lashes had a tendency to fall into his hazel eyes. They also tend to be dry. He grabbed a bottle of eye drops, leaned back and placed some into them. After blinking, he then grabbed a toothbrush, lathered some toothpaste onto the hairs and started brushing.
As he was brushing, he started to think about the conversations at the dinner table.
I wonder who he contacted to fix the electricity…
