Kayden hadn’t said anything when Bryson informed him of Levi’s decision. He had only clenched his jaw and nodded. He wasn’t even sure he could have said no if he tried. If Everette were to stay anywhere else, Kayden knew he would fall sick with worry. He needed the Omega close.
Bryson sighed. "You know this means you can’t avoid him?"
Kayden ignored the remark, lowering his gaze back to the file he had been reading before Bryson walked into the room.
Bryson huffed, turned on his heel, and left the office.

The ride stretched longer than Everette expected. His eyes traced the blur of buildings, trees, and winding roads through the car window, each turn making his unease twist tighter in his stomach. Levi hadn’t said a word since their last exchange, and though Everette wanted to press him further, something in his brother’s posture kept him silent. Levi’s shoulders were stiff, his jaw set, his knuckles pale where they gripped the steering wheel.
