Right outside the outer gates of Paragon, in the private vehicles parking area stood two people wearing proper black uniforms with white shirts on the inside and a red tie. One of them was a man with ginger hair and black eyes, wearing sunglasses and a silver watch, and the other was a woman with black hair and black eyes wearing black gloves, while reading a book in her hands.
"Did you really go through all of that? I just wanted you to know about the current state laws," I asked, fully aware of the bloodlust that Sylvia was emitting towards me.
"You know why I am wearing my gloves? So that, there won't be any blood left on my hands when I am done with you," Sylvia said, without moving her eyes from the book.
'... I am so dead,' I thought to myself.
Since we were imposing as FBI agents, I wanted one of us to know about the city laws of Port Saxon, and while doing that it I thought they should also learn the state laws. I gave the task to Sylvia, since I can't be the nerd when I was wearing a sunglass and Tommy was imposing as our division leader currently.
Port Saxon was created a few decades ago, due to the constant Terra-forming caused by the Zone Resonances, most of the countries have assigned new names to the locations that got Terra-formed. Locations like New York and islands in the Atlantic Ocean were prime examples of it.
We didn't have to wait long as a black car with a robust design and a broad and elongated stopped right in front of us. The car didn't look different from a normal car on the outside, except the wheels part, that looked retractable and the windows tinted black. The front seat's window slowly slid down, revealing a man with black hair, styled in center part style, and green eyes, wearing the same uniform as the both of us with sunglasses.
"Now I feel left out," Sylvia said, trying to act as calmly as possible. "I am going to bring a sunglass next time."
"Senior privilegedes cadet, you need a promotion for that," Tommy stated, adjusting his glasses. "Cadets are supposed to sit at the back, I can't let a cadet dirty my baby's front seat."
"Good, looks like you adapted to your new personality, makes me want to gut you even more," Sylvia said, with bloodlust radiating all over her.
"Now now, I know you want to play your part but don't do that right now, she had a rough day. We have a long day ahead of us and we are already late, the officers told us to be there to be there early so get moving," I said, trying to mediate the situation. 'I have definitely gone overboard with her.'
The current FBI in this era exists as a training facility for the hero students of Paragon in secret. However, they don't have the codex restricting them from revealing our identities, so we have to use shimmers to hide our identities on missions such as this. Most of the current FBI members are either from the Extraterrestrial Alliance or the Government's most trusted members, so even if someone does come to know of our identities accidentally, the chances of them making it public is very low.
And yes, FBI agents still use black coloured cars, since Earth is kept as a memory and a training ground for Paragon students, using cars gives them starting experience before they move on to piloting space ships and maintaining intergalactic vehicles. However, even in this era, FBI have specially enhanced vehicles permitted by the government, that could fly in the air by retracting it's wheels and using it's energy reserves to counter act the earth's gravity to a certain level. It might sound like levitation but trust me, there is so much complexity in these vehicles that I wish I could just disassemble one to take a good look at them.
The officers in the Police force don't know about this either(our identities part), so they will treat us like actual special agents. However, the problem right now is our personalities. Three days aren't enough for anyone to adapt to a new personality but we went for it anyways, I was able to get used to it due to my knowledge of human behaviour. However, Sylvia and Tommy on the other hand managed to mimic some people that they knew.
'You know, Ryuk? Sylvia was right, I am really not a team player, even right now I am thinking about the possibilities of them messing up this whole thing for me,' I said, looking at the time on my watch, it was nearly 10 am and there we were still only half way through to our destination. 'I wish I had went alone.'
"Tell me one thing, how is it possible that you are so well versed in human behaviour and human physiology, yet you get paranoid so often?" Ryuk asked, wondering deeply about the fact. "What is so different about your variants and you? Is it because they are so old? Maybe you will grow out of it as you age, or maybe you just overcomplicate everything most of the time."
Overcomplicate? Did I really overthink my decisions? Huh... I think I should try meditation then. Thinking about timelines, how to manipulate them, how to manipulate the people around me... I guess I do have that problem. But that doesn't mean I could just think less about any of those matters.
But all of this could simplify if I get the attribute that can get rid of this problem by a bit.
