"We are going on a field trip!" said Thomas.

"Again? I went on a raid with you five days ago." I said.

"Yes, I know. However, today, we are going to a crime scene. You will be my assistant." said Thomas.

"Is it a murder scene?" I asked.

"... Yes." Thomas shulked.

"You are going to take a child to a murder scene? Uncle! Grow up!" I shouted at him.

"Why does it even matter you have already been to the battlefield?"

"Alright, I guess I will help you out." I sighed. 'This suit will take longer than I thought it would.'

Murder scene

Since seventy percent of the population on this planet consists of humans, the murders are still investigated by the police. Some cases can be given to heroes and detectives if the need arises. Today's murder is similar to that. An influential businessman had been murdered in his home by something that was not a human. These investigations are considered supernatural. Sometimes, there is some involvement of humans found as well.

"What do you think, detective? Do you think there are humans involved in this?" Thomas asked. We were wearing our suits as usual.

"Although I would like to say no... There is a high chance that humans are involved in this. This guy was one of the owners of the Art Gallery in New York. I think this might be done by the other owners," the detective said, looking through the files on the victim. The detective wore a full coat and a top hat, a rare combination for a woman.

"I think otherwise. These claw marks on his body look like juvenile werewolf's claw marks. The blood on the walls has different DNA than this guy. It looks like that guy fought back. However, the thing that killed him wasn't the werewolf. His heart stopped before he could finish the fight. Was there any poison in his food?" I inquired.

"Who is this?" the detective asked.

"My nephew," Thomas answered.

"Your nephew is intelligent, unlike you." the detective laughed. "There wasn't any poison found in his food."

"The look on his face tells me that he was shocked. A heart attack? Hm..." I thought about it.

"Can a werewolf instil fear in his opponents?" Ryuk asked me.

'Yes, but that move is not that strong unless... He is a young Alpha that awakened as a Conqueror. I don't think I added anyone like that. An unexpected variable has appeared. I never expected this to be so much fun.'

"Neither did I. You might gain an ally from this trip," Ryuk smirked.

'I think so too. A young Alpha showing up all of a sudden means that a tribe might have been wiped out.' I said. 'Let's catch it then.'

"Have you questioned the witnesses?" I asked.

"All of them. They all said that they heard some screams and went upstairs. However, by the time they reached the room, the victim was found to be dead," the detective explained. "The windows were open. The murderer might have jumped down from there."

I went towards the window and looked down. There was an open trash can on the ground. Some of the trash was scattered around the floor.

'It left in a rush. That werewolf might have been too scared. I don't think it killed the man out of rage. His survival instinct might have kicked in.' I thought.

"You are saying that the werewolf is innocent?" Ryuk asked.

'No, no one can be innocent after taking a life, even if they do it in self-defence. I am saying that the thing that killed this man has the mentality of a child. It means that it is easy to manipulate.' I said.

"Oh! So, you are planning to manipulate him?" Ryuk asked.

'Yes, if it is an Alpha, I will train it like one.' I answered.

"A child wearing a coat," I said.

"Excuse me?" the detective looked confused.

"Search for a child wearing a coat," I said. "The child will have blood on its hands, so it will attract lot of attention and find that kid quickly."

"Our suspect is a child? The victim had a gun!" the detective shouted.

"Just find the kid. You will know why that kid is our suspect when you do." I said. "That kid might still be in this city."

"I will take a look around then," said Thomas.

Crackle

In a flash of lighting, Thomas had already left. The police officers were still trying to understand the situation. Even the detective couldn't figure out why I suspected a child.

"Was there anything that indicated that our suspect is a child?" The detective asked.

"There was blood on the wardrobe, which means that the child took something from there. The trash can outside the house had some trash scattered around it. That means that the child left in a rush. The child was scared. It didn't kill the victim because it wanted to. It was scared. It was too clumsy with the murder. Which indicates the fact that our suspect is a child." I explained

"Do you want to become a detective when you grow up? We would love to have someone like you in our department." The detective tried to recruit me.

"Thank you for your offer, but no." I declined. "I will become a hero like my uncle."

"That is fine as well. However, there is also a department of heroes who investigate this stuff. Why don't you join them? You don't have to put your life on the line to fight supernatural entities. You can still be a hero like your uncle." The detective tried to pursue me to become a detective as well.

"I will consider your offer," I said.

"That woman is so annoying. Do not listen to her, becoming a detective has its cons as well," Ryuk said.

'I know. I won't become a detective. It will ruin my plans if I do. I can only kill the protagonist after taking care of his plot armours one by one. To do that, I need to join the same department as him.' I said. 'For that, I need to become the one who he trusts the most. Thawne style.'
