After observing for a while, Di Tou realised that what he was looking at wasn't Mu Di Bai, but rather something more akin to a Spiritual Imprint left behind by Mu Di Bai… The Spiritual Imprint was basically a condensation of Mu Di Bai's will and spirit that had been left behind here. Sort of like a footstep, but using one's Spirit and soul instead of one's foot.
Sensing it a bit closer, Di Tou could tell that there was a message left behind in this Spiritual Imprint, and the fact that it was 'leaking' and creating ripples should be some sort of unintentional effect, perhaps caused by Di Tou's will when he was sleeping.
When he was sleeping he had been dreaming of all sorts of traumatising things, and in his heart he had been unwilling to see his efforts fail. Subconsciously, he should have willed and modified this Spiritual Imprint to change, causing it to have its current state of 'leaking' and using its energy to create and replace the ripples.
