Amany let out a soft sigh, then brought her girlfriend's injured hand close to her face and blew gently on it. The gesture was meant to soothe the stinging sensation from the medication.
Even though Irina was numb.
Sometimes, a gentle gesture is all we need to find comfort for our hearts.
"Did you break the glass on purpose, or did you just drop the cup?" Amany asked, genuinely wanting to know.
She needed to know, mostly so she could understand how to handle the situation, but Irina didn't seem to want to say much.
Irina let out a breath.
"I went to have another drink, and I ended up dropping the glass. It wasn't on purpose."
That eased Amany's mind somewhat. She didn't want to deal with an Irina who was completely out of control, but more than anything, she wanted to know whether Irina was still capable of controlling her own impulses.
