Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8: MEETING OF A LIFETIME VII – THE CHASE

[Arthur's POV]

Fear.

Fear is a dangerous emotion that could either propel one up or bring one down.

In all my life, I can undoubtedly say that I have experienced fear only twice.

First, it was when I was almost killed in a dark alley for stealing food. An emotion that led to my current self, as I detested my weakness and helplessness at that moment. Of course, my great talent was the foundation of my current achievement, as I barely used any cultivation resources and much time to become an advanced mage.

Second was the 'present time'.

When I teleported before the princess, I made certain that the spatial fluctuations of my teleportation were completely masked to catch all those present off guard, and not give them any time to react.

Those present were still looking at my afterimage; the king beside the princess was the same, as he also couldn't follow my movement.

However, when I appeared before the princess with my hand stretched out, I could feel a gaze on me. A gaze that was looking in my direction even before I appeared.

In this slowed time where all seemed to come to a crawl, I shifted my eyes slightly to the left, to the seat further left of the king, where I saw a beautiful veiled figure gazing in my direction calmly.

Even though I could not see her face, I could swear she was looking at me amusedly.

Inexplicably...

I felt fear.

As I saw her raise a slender finger in my direction in a gesture one would use to poke the air, my danger sense spiked wildly as I felt a grave threat heading my way.

However, her movement came to a full stop when she saw the princess quickly take hold of my hand.

Making full use of this opening, I quickly willed my mana, and space essence fluctuated out from me wildly, wrapping around the princess and me, as we instantly teleported away from the Coliseum.

…..

Seeing the hazy figure of the silver-haired boy and his daughter flash away rapidly, the king bellowed out angrily:

"YOU DARE?!"

Mana surged out from his body greatly, and soon after, a golden aura instantly surrounded him before turning into a pillar that shot into the sky, as his golden hair waved wildly.

With an angry expression on his face, he raised his hand high up and voiced out in a deep voice:

"STOP!"

Numerous small golden magic circles appeared around him endlessly, and instantly spread out as they enlarged further, covering tens of thousands of meters.

After covering such a wide distance, they came to a stop, as they looked like large circular barriers that encircled everything in these tens of thousands of meters in a huge golden sphere.

With the coliseum covered and the entire Goldsborn kingdom covered, every moving thing in the huge golden sphere came to a standstill as time was frozen.

The king was the only one who showed a sign of movement, as he turned into a golden light that streaked across space as if he was teleporting, immediately giving chase as he was still locked unto the aura of his daughter.

Well, except for one person...

"Hmm..." A sound of contemplation rang out amidst the silent space, as the veiled Queen raised a finger to her luscious lips.

…..

Tens of thousands of meters away

Space fluctuated wildly, and two distinct figures appeared.

However, they both came to a complete stop before they could make any move.

Golden essence quickly erupted from the princess's body, and she felt the shackles on her loosen soon after. Still, she could only make small movements, as it would take some time to completely break the time restraint on her.

Arthur, on the other hand, came to a complete stop as he was placed in a very difficult situation. If he were in his prime state, breaking this shackle would not have been a problem at all. At least that was how he felt.

However, he just teleported over a distance of about fifty thousand meters, consuming a lot of his mana, not to mention that he was not alone while teleporting, which drained him of double the required mana.

He looked out of the corner of his eyes (as that was the only part he could manage to move) and could see the princess struggling to break the restraint on her. It was only a matter of time, so he relaxed.

Arthur had his eyes closed as he thought about what happened a few seconds ago. He thought about the veiled queen and her actions and could not help but feel his scalp tingle.

He hated it; he hated it a lot. That feeling of having his life not within his control. After experiencing it once a few years back, he had promised himself he would never face such situations ever again, which was why he worked so hard on his space powers.

Day and night, he spent most of his time exploring his power.

Yet, he was still weak.

If the people still frozen within the colisuenm could hear his thoughts, they would faint out of anger, while some might even cough out blood.

To dominate his entire age range, and even stand his own against a duke...

Such talent has not been seen for ages, of course, that was if the monster of their queen was excluded. She simply could not be measured with human standards any longer. If it wasn't for her, how could the Goldsborn family, whose number has dwindled to a few hundred, compare to the other powerful kingdoms? But, as long as she was present, the Goldsborn family would undoubtedly remain at the peak of their world.

Arthur opened his eyes abruptly as he was pulled out of his thoughts.

As he focused his vision forward, he could make out a golden streak that left a scar in space as it moved in their direction.

'Sh*t!'

He was so focused on the queen that he did not even stop to think about what placed them in their current state.

Seeing the golden streak move ever so closer, he willed what little mana he had left.

Silver essence erupted again, shattering the void around him and breaking the time constraint that imprisoned him.

He quickly surrounded the princess with his space essence and was about to teleport.

"Boy, wait," he heard the King's deep call out to him. Within three breaths at most, he would arrive at their position.

"Alright, be quick," he said with a gentle smile.

When the king was a breath away from their position, he immediately teleported with the princess, not before waving a hand as if he were saying goodbye to his best friend.

"BASTARD!" the king bellowed out angrily. He felt his face redden as he believed the boy heeded his call.

To make the usually calm king erupt in anger, only Arthur would be able to achieve such a feat. But the King couldn't be blamed. Even till now, he couldn't wrap his head around the situation. Everything felt so unusual and even unbelievable. If anyone told him, a little boy around his daughter's age could toy with his kingdom, he would have laughed it off as the rambling of a madman, and wouldn't have even felt offended. Yet, here he was...

Discarding the embarrassment he felt, he quickly canceled the spell he cast, before casting it once again, putting everything within the surrounding tens of thousands of meters with his current position as the center at a standstill

Once more, he gave chase.
