Chapter 23 - Heavy(EDITED)

"It's a beautiful view."

The woman in the opposite seat shifted uncomfortably at his words.

"Why don't you believe me, young lady? I meant it—your face is simply beautiful to look at."

He repeated himself gently, but the girl only nodded, her body trembling slightly as if shrinking from his gaze.

He stood and stepped toward her. The black-haired girl sat with her head bowed, avoiding his eyes.

"Why are you bowing? Are you afraid of me?" he asked softly.

Still, she didn't respond. Her posture remained tense, and he noticed how tightly she clutched the fabric of her skirt—so tight that it was already wrinkled and bunched in her fists.

"Ahh..." Saint grunted under his breath, clutching his head as a wave of pain surged through him. His body weakened. And then—a scene, vivid and sudden, flooded his mind like a memory surfacing too fast.

"Are you okay?" Freen's voice broke through the haze. She had noticed his discomfort.

"Arg... Yeah. Just a headache," he muttered, trying to steady himself.

"Sorry," Freen whispered, guilt settling into her voice. She had caused so much trouble for Saint over the past three Months—too much had happened, and it weighed heavily on her.

"Don't worry about it," he replied, offering her a small, tired smile. "Let's just go home and rest."

Another notification interrupted them, and Saint's eye shot

'' Don't look at it,'' Saint warned Freen.

''Don't look what?'' Freen check what the notif said, and her eyes immediately turned cold.

Becky and Tee lingered around the corner while the others shot the scene when Becky accidentally bumped into an old vase, which fell to the floor.

The sound of the vase breaking echoed throughout the room, drawing everyone's attention to Becky and Tee.

Becky's face flushed with embarrassment as she attempted to pick up the broken vase's pieces.

"Sorry," Tee apologized while awkwardly smiling and making a peace sign to the director's direction. Becky appeared upset and embarrassed as she apologized for the mess, but Tee quickly reassured her that it was no big deal and offered to help clean up.

The staff also helped them clean the mess.

Becky was feeling an unexplainable heaviness in her heart as she was thinking about Freen when vase was dropped on floor.

It is near midnight, but Freen and Mr. Jaa haven't come back yet, which adds to Becky's worries. They should be here by now because this is a lock-in shoot, and they have a scene to be shot tomorrow.

" You alright?" Tee asked Becky because she noticed the anxiety in Becky's eyes as they sat and watched the scene of Jim and Kade that was currently being filmed by the director.

"Get some rest, your shoot is early tomorrow with Freen." Tee suggested when she noticed the tiredness in Becky's eyes.

Becky didn't answer as if she had no intention of following what Tee told her. Tee just shook her head at Becky's actions, she knows why Becky is acting like this now.

"Becky, don't wait for Freen to come home. Nothing bad will happen to her because Mr. Jaa is with her so I'm sure she's safe wherever she is.. hm." Tee comforted Becky, knowing well that she was worried.

" I don't know why, but I'm having a bad feeling, Tee. I feel like something is wrong and Freen isn't telling us." Becky said sadly, she could see the worry in her eyes.

Tee just nodded while listening. "Would you like me to call her to put your mind at ease?" Tee thought that she was going to reassure Becky that everything was fine.

"Don't. We might just disturb her. Maybe her appointment is important today. I'll just wait for her. I don't want her to think that I'm very clingy to her. Even if everything is turned upside down, we won't be like before." Becky's rejection of Tee's offer

Becky understands that Freen needed space when Mr. On was murdered, but it's been two months, and she's still distancing herself from everyone. She was always just focused on filmmaking and would only talk to everyone about job-related topics.

Tee was saddened by what she heard from Becky, so she remained silent and focused on watching Jim and Kade's shoot, which seemed to have been repeated several times because they were laughing and the crew was laughing at the two's nonsense.

She couldn't help but be envious of their carefree attitude and wished she could join in the laughter, but her thoughts were still on Becky's words.

Tee excused herself from the shooting and went for a walk to clear her mind.

Becky just let Tee go, she didn't even ask where she was going, she stayed watching but went to her room when she felt very sleepy.

Meanwhile, while Tee was taking a breather outside, she saw a familiar car parked. She was about to approach it when its passenger got out after its bodyguard opened the door for her, but didn't seem to be in the mood, so Tee chose not to approach her.

Tee's POV

I saw Freen and Mr. Jaa, who were still standing outside the mansion. The two of them were talking in a low voice. I was in a rather dark part of the mansion, so they wouldn't notice me. I also saw another car just parked after them, and it was Freen's bodyguards.

"Ma'am, listen to me, I have to do that because it's my job to protect you." I heard how Mr. Jaa seemed to be explaining himself to Freen.

"Mr. Jaa, I understand you, but I don't want many people to follow me. In the end, you are still the one who was able to save me from that crazy man, right? And now the media is attacking me again," Freen is pleading with her Bodyguard.

"Freen, I think you should take Mr. Jaa's advice for what happened today, it would be better if you add more guards for your security as well. And I- i was the one who called the police." I didn't notice that Saint was with them.

''So it was you all along that made this thing worse?''Freen confronted Saint.

I think it looks like Becky was right when she said earlier that something is going on that Freen isn't telling us about.

Perhaps this is why Saint abruptly left the shoot earlier; I noticed his haste earlier, but didn't pay attention to it, but now, from what I'm seeing, it appears that what's going on is serious, but why doesn't Freen tell us?

I suppose I should ask Freen what's going on, but I don't want to intrude or make assumptions.

It's best to wait for Freen to inform us of what's going on in their own time.

What is going on? Why are they hiding this from us? We are also their friends.

"Seriously, Saint, nothing happened to me. The man was just a desperate brother of a dying kid, who is my fan, that wanted to have a time with me," Freen explained.

"Freen, you were out of sight for fucking almost 10 hours. We are about to go crazy looking for you. When I told Mr. Jaa that you had disappeared, he wouldn't say that you were kidnapped.'' Saint is now desperate-

What did he say again?

"You were kidnapped!?" Hearing them, I couldn't help but join in their conversation. "What happened? Are you okay?" I asked with concern, hoping to get more details about the situation.

"Fuck! Tee, you're going to kill us with a heart attack!" Saint shouted, clearly startled by my outburst.

I barely heard him—I was already storming after Freen. "Hey! Freen! I'm not done with you—get back here!" My voice was sharp, louder than I meant it to be, but I didn't care. Not now.

I took a step to follow her, but Saint's arm suddenly blocked my path.

I turned to him, disbelief twisting my face. "Are you serious right now?" I asked silently with my eyes, frustrated and confused.

But Saint just shook his head slowly. His eyes weren't angry—just tired. Calm. Telling me, without a word, to let Freen go.

I clenched my fists, biting down on the urge to argue. I could see it in his face: he knew. He knew how much this day had drained her, how much she needed space.

I exhaled through my nose, lips pressed tight. Fine. Not now.

Becky's POV

I was reading about the history of this mansion on Google. I can't imagine that this mansion has been here since the Ayuthaya Kingdom era and was owned by one of the elite bloodlines. But nothing more was written about what happened to the family after they lived here; it seems their family was lost in time, and their story remains a mystery. The mansion's architecture is a testament to the grandeur of the Ayuthaya Kingdom, with intricate carvings and ornate details. But it also shouts a French ambiance inside; it's like a fusion of cultures that have been brought together by the designer of this place. Amazingly done. However, the people who built the mansion are also a mystery, as they are not mentioned here.

But if the family is all deceased, who now owns this mansion? In the absence of any living heirs, the mansion would likely become the property of the state or country in which it is located. Alternatively, it could be sold at auction and the proceeds distributed to a charitable organization or government entity. But why is it not written here if it's already owned by the government? There could be several reasons why it's not written here. The information may be confidential, or it may not be relevant to the document.

Maybe I should just ask the production team about the owner of this mansion; they surely know who it belongs to since they have been filming here for weeks. It would be the quickest and most reliable way to find out, instead of trying to search for information online or through other sources. That way, I could easily get the name of the owner of this mansion, or the person who is in charge of this house in the government sector; they might have useful information about what happened to the family that owns the mansion during the Ayutthaya kingdom.

I was too engrossed in my thoughts while browsing, just in case I'd find another useful piece of information, that I didn't even realize I had fallen asleep already.

I was woken up by a light knock on my door. I groggily answered, and I think the person hasn't heard me.

I got off the bed and walked to the door. I unlocked it and turned the door knob with my eyes half closed. Are there some changes again in my scenes? Am I going to shoot now? Thought.

But I was shocked the moment I opened my door.

That face, why is it so sad and tired? I stared into her expressive eyes, and she did the same.

Her eyes are saying the words her lips won't say. Had she been crying?

And I was more shocked when the woman in front of me imprisoned me in her arms, or more accurately, she hid herself in me like a child in her mother's arms, asking for help, and I stood there not knowing what to do.

I slowly put my arms around her; she is crying, hiding her face in my left shoulder. I had no words to say, just allowing her to release all her emotions while I held her tightly, hoping that my presence alone could provide some comfort and solace to her. As she continued to cry, I silently prayed for her pain to ease and for her heart to find peace once again.

As her hands gripped both sides of my shirt over my shoulders, wrinkling my shirt and every drop of her warm tears on my now exposed neck as a result of her gripping my shirt, it was like a stab in my chest.

I broke my heart seeing her in this state. I haven't seen this vulnerability in her before; she's always acted tough, happy, and positive.

Seeing her like this right now, I knew that she must have been going through a lot, and I wanted to be there for her in any way I could. It made me realize that everyone has their struggles, even those who seem the strongest.

She indeed changed, or did she? Or I haven't seen it yet because I was too focused on myself and my pain. Now I am starting to wonder if I judged her right then. Or,

Maybe I was just too immature and self-centered to see how she is. Now that I've grown and gained more perspective, I realize how much I hurt her and wish I could apologize and make things right.

I never asked her what she was going through. I regret not having asked her about her struggles, as it could have helped me understand and support her better.

But how could I do that when she is the one who is being distant from me?

Who hurt her? Is this still about Mr. On's death?

As I noticed that she had already calmed down, I slowly let go, but she didn't let me go as her grip on my shoulder tightened, so what I did was get back to the door to close it because I fell back a little when she abruptly hugged me.

I had a smile on my lips as I walked a little closer to the door with Freen clinging to my shoulder. I felt a sense of contentment and joy in that moment, grateful for the company of a friend who always brought me comfort and happiness. As I was about to close the door, I looked forward, and I saw the writer of the novel was looking in our direction from afar. I was about to look away, embarrassed in our current position, but she smiled. I smiled back and gestured to her that I was going to close the door, and she nodded and walked away.

And I finally closed the door .

''No. '' Freen said sternly but cutely that when I tried to remove her from my arms, I laughed at her cuteness.

''Okay, come on, let's rest. It's been a long day.'' I said.

And I continued to walk towards my bed with her still clinging to me.
