After hearing Adela remind them she was waiting for an answer Lucian spoke, "I only have one last question, is there anything you can tell us about the 'trials' at all?"
"All I can say is that the universe is an extremely large place coupled with the fact that there are almost infinte universes you can guarantee you will be tested and may even be bested my best advice would just to see it through and the rewards will be immense." She responded causing Lucian and Althea to exchange glances before looking to see their parents reactions.
Their parents had been silent this entire time out of respect for the family head and the fact that they weren't the ones being presented this opportunity.
Lucian didn't seem too interested from his body language and his expressionless face while Althea had showed looks of surprise and excitement hearing what Adela had told them.
Althea asked, "what if we have no interest at all in being the Light family head but still want to participate?"
Adela nodded her head and answered, "That is fine, but I can't explain things further until I have one your answered."
"Mom, dad I think I'm going to accept there's no way I can pass up this opportunity." Althea said as she looked at her parents her eyes shining with excitement.
Lucian still had a contemplative look on his face as if he was thinking about something, before he looked to his excited parents faces and nodded.
"I will also accept, however I have no interest in becoming the family Head." Lucian spoke the last part very firm and resolute as if it were him saying absolutely not.
"This is great! Parents Lucian and Althea will return to your homes with you and an envoy will receive them a week from today as of now you may leave and they will join you down in the great hall once we've finished speaking." Adela spoke waving her hand dismissing the two youths parents.
All four parents nodded with huge grins on their faces saying thanks to the Light family head and bowing before shuffling out of the room whispering to one another unable to contain their excitement.
"Before you go remember everything discussed in this room today is highly confidential, if word leaks about this the punishment is extermination." Adela said causing the four parents to stiffen while walking as they stopped talking immediately.
Just as the door closed 2 robed and cloaked figures seemed to pop into existence causing no stirring or the air in the room or the slightest noise catching both Lucian and Althea off guard.
"Now that you have accepted the task at hand, I would like to introduce you to the light family's premier ancestor, and the light families current protector. Ancestor Lee, and the Protector Xander" Adela said as the robed figures removed their hoods.
One was a man that like Althea didn't look to be any older than his early thirties while the other was an old man that looked to be around his sixties.
The younger man had a rugged appearance he had a beard and had long unkempt black hair with clearly defined facial features beneath his moustache and deep dark black eyes, if it weren't for the dangerous ancient aura you could feel from him he would easily be mistaken for a young beggar.
While the older gentleman has short silver hair and a shaven face with silver almost white eyes that seemed to pierce through your very soul knowing things about yourself even you were unaware of.
Lucian and Althea immediately stood and bowed instinctually before they were waved down by the 3 leaders in front of them.
"I'm sure you don't know what a premier ancestor is so I will explain, I am the person that lead the light family through the ancient war and constituted its reformation to what it is today." Ancestor Lee spoke causing Lucian and Althea's eyes to go wide.
They had read about and learned of the old war but to be meeting the person that lead the light family through that war, there was no doubt in their mind he was either equal to or stronger than the current family head.
"And now that you have accepted the offer, I can tell you why it was fine if you do not wish to be the head of the light family, there are some things in the family that are kept hidden from most of its family members to prevent information breeches…"
The position of protector is much like the family head if not more important, as it is their duty to face threats or dangers before they are able to reach the family head, it was a position that was created by me during the ancient war, and actually during those days I was the family protector still my role in leading the family through that time was crucial the family head from that time is currently away on a mission but you will be able to meet them soon when you return." Ancestor Lee finished.
"Uhm… so what do we have to do?" Lucian asked awkwardly eager to know what was the big deal and why this was so extremely secretive.
"I love how ready you are, but you've got a long road ahead of you, I suggest you take your time and just enjoy everything that comes your way, as far as what you 2 will be doing the light family controls and runs the adventurers guild, which is highly confidential and only known by the ancestors, the protector, and the family head…"
"You both will be joining the adventurers guild Althea you will be very surprised who will be guiding you through your adventures, and Lucian you actually will be joining the branch of the guild currently under the family Protector." Ancestor Lee spoke sending another wave of shock through the two youths in front of him.
