Chapter 62 - The World Trembles

"Star, are you sure that's Dylan Jones?" The President of the United States of America asked as he stared down the Heroine 'Stars and Stripes'. "The very same one that disappeared when that experiment went haywire?"

"Yes, sir," Star stated with absolute certainty. "Dylan Jones is somehow alive and is currently in Japan."

"Star, you understand that this is far too great for you to rush over there and capture him," The president told her. "This could create an international problem we can't handle."

"Sir, with all due respect, we can't let this chance disappear," Star insisted. "After his parents' deaths, he's the only one who can help us source more Tritium."

"Star, I'll say this now," The president spoke seriously, "Let it go, we're not in the era where the world is looking to us for support anymore. The rest of the world has come to terms with what happened to them. The Tritium is their legacy, we are not going to taint it with dragging their supposedly dead son back into the spotlight." He sighed, "Besides, you know what would happen if you tried."

"You'd have to report to the UN that I've gone rogue," Star said evenly, though she was internally grinding her teeth.

.

Just as they were about to head into an intense silence, a rapid knock sounded out on the Oval Office Door. The door then burst open, and a huffing agent rushed inside. The agent was an older man with greying hair and aqua eyes, he was one of the few quirkless agents who still worked for the president. His usual cool and calm demeanor was gone, and a look of fright was etched on his face.

.

"Stevens, what's the matter?" The president said as soon as he saw who it was.

"R-report from our agents in Japan," He stuttered.

"What is it?" The President asked

.

Stevens then spewed a deluge of information to the two of them, from the suspected attacks to the massive war that was happening currently in Deika City in Japan. The number of casualties and all the secrets are being exposed, all being broadcast in real-time.

And in the center of it all?

Courier Six.

.

"My God," The President spoke in a stunned voice, "The world's gonna tremble after this is all over."

"Sir, permission to head on over there and help?" Stars asked.

"Denied," The president said out right, "I will be sending relief support for their casualties, however, you are NOT to go. We're already on the brink of another Cold War, I don't want you anywhere near this one, Star. If I send you, it'll be an open declaration of War. If only, and I do mean IF, a war were to break out with villains in Japan, the other World-class Villains would do the same.

"Understood," Star sighed in annoyance.

...

..

.

Six stood tall as he walked towards the tallest tower of Deika City. Meeting resistance every step of the way. The members of the PLF, realizing that Six's destination was their base, fought hard. However, they didn't fight hard enough, as they were either shot, vaporized, or gooified. Those that survived didn't last long afterward.

Soon enough, the PLF forces were disassembled and pushed back by a single madman.

The PLF forces were soon pushed back to the tower, where they barricaded themselves in the tower.

That didn't stop Six. If anything, it emboldened him. As he pulled out [Red Glare], he fired a barrage straight into the front door. Four rockets blasted the front door with great force, opening a massive hole in the side of the tower. The forces inside the tower were blasted to smithereens, as blood and gore covered the remaining walls.

.

"Now," Six spoke in a threatening tone, "Move or die."

.

Needless to say, the forces were scared shitless.

...

..

.

Veronica hurried through the streets, countless heroes following her lead. She stopped when her Geiger counter started to click rapidly, and all those behind her did as well.

.

"What are we stopping for?!" Endevor shouted as he pushed to the front.

"The Geiger counter is jumping like crazy!" Veronica shouted back, "We need to find another path!"

"Damit!" Aizawa swore, "Everyone, spread out! Make sure you're watching your counters! We don't need anymore running in blind! We've lost too many already!"

.

That's when Doctor Disaster rushed forward with Six's robo-scorpions and began to use their sensors to scan for any signs of life.

.

"Go!" He shouted as he scanned his control tablet, "I'll deal with this area!"

"You heard him, move!" A heroine shouted as the rest spread out.

.

As Disaster went to send in the scorpions, a massive earthquake shook the city. The source was the tallest tower in the city. Smoke clouds drifted towards the sky as the Heroes were both scared and surprised by how much a single, quirkless person could do. Before long, they shook off the fear and surprise and dove back into work.

A few heroes, however, couldn't shake off the sight of wanton destruction and lives lost. The fear and disgust they saw made them lose hope. Hope for those that they could save, and hope for themselves to be able to do it. The carnage was far too much.

Seeing the injured broke their hearts. But seeing those that couldn't be rescued was worse. The throes of pain and woe that echoed throughout the damaged zones were far too much for their psyche to withstand.

Some were even too damaged to move anymore. They just stood there and watched on helplessly. Fear gripped their hearts. Too afraid to move forward.

They just... watched. While others surged forward, their hearts resolved.

...

..

.

"So, you're the infamous Courier Six?" A voice called out from the top of the stairs of the tallest tower.

"And you're Re-Destro," An annoyed Six spoke with disdain.

"Let me guess," Re-Destro spoke with false confidence, "You're here to arrest me?"

"I'm here to get my damn Wife back you piece of shit," Six spoke with venom.
