Daniella walked into Ivan's room, and pulled the blanket that was covering his face. He wasn't sleeping, he was busily listening to music on his phone.
"Are you okay?" She said when she pulled the blanket off his face
"Haven't I told you time and again to always knock before you enter my room!" Ivan scolded
"Your door was ajar, I didn't mean to budge in " Daniella replied climbing onto his bed. She gave him a puppy face look and Ivan knew she was up to something.
"What do you want this time Danny?"
"Can you please call Amara over !" She pleaded
"I'm sorry kiddo , even if I wanted to , I can't Amara isn't well "
"That's a lie … you just don't want to help me "
"She's stuck in a wheelchair so how can she come over and wouldn't it be too selfish to call a sick person to come and help my little sister pick up a dress?"
"When was Amara paralyzed!" Daniella exclaimed surprised.
"You don't have to worry about it , she will be fine in no time "
"Ain't you being a bad boyfriend!" Daniella said out of the blue
"Excuse me ?" Ivan asked confused
"I thought you liked her or are you trying to play her also?"
"Why are you saying all this !"
"Never mind!" Daniella replied and got up
"No Danny wait !" Ivan held her hand.
"Did Amara tell you something!" His face lit up
"Maybe she didn't but if you really like her , I think you should go and see her "
"I always do that … I won't this time!" He smiled and covered his face again.
Amara's POV
"Dad!" I said looking surprisingly at my dad . It was the first time I was seeing my dad home on a week day since we moved.
"Oh dear" Daddy got up and moved towards me. I surprisingly got up from my wheelchair and hugged him. I didn't realize my paralysis was gone and neither did him until mom entered and called out my name .
"Oh my God Amara!" Mom exclaimed excitedly making me aware of the fact that I was standing.
"I can feel my legs now mom!" I exclaimed excitedly and walked towards her.
"Jared!" I called my little brother and entered his room . He was busily playing with his toys but got up and run to me as soon as he saw me.
"I've missed you so much baby!" I said and hugged him tightly.
"I miss you too … come and look at what I made " he said showing me the tower he built with his toys.
"It's beautiful but we have to eat dinner now , mom and dad are waiting!" I said and picked him up. He giggled and played with my hair as we descended the stairs .
I went to my room after having dinner with my family to read some notes. Usually, I hang out with my dad when he comes home but today I felt something was bothering him. During supper, it felt like his body was present with us but his mind was absent. Mom noticed that too and was kinda worried. When I asked about it , he said it was something related to work and even left the dining table earlier than us. He also kept asking some weird questions about Ivan's mom and I wondered if they've met already .
I was reading my notes when I got a text from Ivan. It just said "good night " and that left me confused. It wasn't really late so why was he texting me good night. I got up from my bed and walked towards my window. I opened my window and surprisingly, Ivan was looking through his window bare chested. He waved his hands at me and smiled, revealing his dimples. They were too deep even when he talked and smiling made it worse. "What the fuck is he doing to me" I thought and moved away from my window.
"Why are you hiding?" I got a text from him
"Hiding…" I replied quickly
"Yeah and were you blushing just now" he typed again
"Blushing! Lol" I replied
"Don't worry I will pretend I didn't see it "
"Didn't see what !"
"How red your cheeks became " he replied and I found myself foolishly giggling over his texts
"I applied blush before school that's probably what you saw"
"Why would you lie , you don't even put on make up " he replied and my heart melted. How did he notice I don't put on makeup… I thought
"You look beautiful naturally " he texted and I peeped through my window to see if he was still there . He was standing there bare chested as before and smiling to himself. I didn't know I had admired him for long until mom cleared her throat.
"Was that Ivan you were looking at with that face!" She teased
"Mom! You should have knocked.." I replied feeling embarrassed
"I did honey … three times.." she laughed and I covered my face shyly.
"Hi Ivan .. nice abs!"Mom waved at him and he felt a little bit embarrassed.
"Thanks Cindy " he replied and drew his curtains.
"Tell me dear , do you find him attractive?" Mom sat beside me on the bed.
"Mom!" I exclaimed
"What! You know you can tell me everything "
"Fine but I think that shouldn't be a question… Ivan is hot and everybody finds him attractive " I replied
"I don't mean everybody Amara, I mean you! Do you like him"
"No ! I don't!" I said turning away from her.
"Your response says otherwise " she teased and left.
"So was that the only reason why you came!" I yelled after her. I went to check my windows immediately mom was gone but Ivan wasn't standing there.
"You could have signaled me…" I read his text which he had sent five minutes ago
"About what?" I replied
"Never mind…" he replied
"Ok…" I replied and felt sad about the fact that our little chat was ending. He put me on read and after ten minutes I saw him typing.
"There's no way I'm going to reply immediately" I giggled when his message popped up. I couldn't tell the content but I was dying to read it . After waiting for two minutes which I can say was the longest wait , I opened up his text.
"Can you come over to my house…" I read and my heart skipped a beat.
"Why did he want me to come over… should I agree. Or should I refuse…" I thought foolishly. I texted Alice and Madi real quick in our group chat , screenshot the message and dropped it inside the group. Madi was the first to comment with some excited emojis.
"What do I tell him guys, should I go?" I asked
"Turn him down!" Alice replied and my face dropped. I was hoping she would say yes.
"Why should she Alice , this is Ivan! I will be screaming right now if Ivan asked me over" Madi replied
"You are so clueless when it comes to men Madi !" Alice replied . "Men loves the chase…" she continued and I felt she was right.
"Listen to me Amara … find an excuse and turn him down, don't let him think you are always there for him" Alice replied
"You are sounding as if he's my boyfriend…" I replied
"Don't be so dumb sis … Ivan wants you but you shouldn't let him have you so easily, now hurry the fuck up and text him back " Alice replied and I went ahead to text him.
"Sorry but I've got plans tonight " I replied and he read immediately.
"Can't you spare some few minutes for Daniella, she wants you to help her choose a dress… she's attending a party " he texted back and I felt stupid. So he was asking me over for his sister… I thought and felt embarrassed. I screenshot the message and uploaded it into the group.
"Did he just play around with you!" Madi laughed.
"Just tell him , you are considering it because of Daniella " Alice replied and I did just that.
