Chapter 145 - Rivalry for the Moon

The pilot and his companions returned to the hotel to sleep. Tomorrow, they would fly to Türkiye.

The pilot, Shnemo, asked the girl, Kasha, to wake up early. He told her:

"The plane takes off at eight in the morning. We should be at Cairo Airport before then. I've arranged everything — the bags, the tickets, even the taxi."

He had already asked the taxi driver to come at seven in the morning.

That night, while everyone slept, the moonlight shone through the window of Kasha's hotel room, keeping her awake. She stood by the window, doing gentle yoga stretches, whispering to herself:

"The night is still long… I remember my childhood, and my sister Akemi. When we fall asleep, she stands by the window, waiting for the clouds, speaking to the moon. She asks it: 'Is the white cloud coming?'"

Kasha stayed there, awake, even while the others slept.

"She doesn't even rest to watch us sleep," I thought to myself. "I cover my face and pretend to snore, but in truth, I look at her and wonder: Sister, when will you sleep in peace?"

I remembered those days as if my family's life were like the moonlight streaming through the window — pulling us into its glow. It was as though we all rode upon a single beam, vanishing when the moon disappeared, and reappearing when my sister's presence returned with its light.

We searched for her always, for she loved helping others, giving hope to the people of the world. They, too, awaited the return of the moon — the pulse of life. When its light faded, darkness ruled, and screams filled the air.

I wondered: Did my sister wish to visit the pyramids? If so, I would tell her that I have already seen them. Or perhaps she preferred to gaze at the moon here? If so, why did I not hear her voice?

Here, the moon is bright. Was your moon hidden?

Kasha finally lay down on her bed, half-asleep, softly singing:

"Why didn't I hear your voice? Do you feel for them, and long to help them?"
