After Lorenzo cleared his head, we went back to my room to discuss other matters. Sephtis and Him were chatting at the tea table set up in my room as I changed behind a privacy screen on the other end of the room.
"So, w-what are you going to do with your sister's remains?" Sephtis asked, his stutter still slightly present, but I could tell he was getting more comfortable around Lorenzo.
"Usually, when our people pass, their remains turn to dust and return to nature. But since it was an unnatural death, I'm going to have her cremated so I can scatter the ashes somewhere," Lorenzo explained, taking a sip of the coffee he brewed for us.
"That's sweet," I added with a smile in my voice, "Though not to sound rude, what exactly is your race? I know you aren't a demon, and you most certainly aren't any kind of elf."
"Oh, I'm a half fairy…sort of the opposite of what Sephtis is, but I guess that just makes our partnership even more special!" Lorenzo laughed, then stopped abruptly at the thought of his other half no longer being here.
"Hm, then are you perhaps a follower of Wenora?" Sephtis asked, his ears twitching as he leaned forward with wonder.
"My mother was, she was the fairy half of my sister and me. While Lior and I inherited the teachings of Wenora from her, we do not think of her as our Patron," Lorenzo explained.
"I see, then y-you and I are in the same boat. While I lived in Connery Village for some time, I hardly learned any of the teachings of Jocasta, but I did read about her and Wenora in my past time," Sephtis added, his tail now wagging.
Before I came out from behind the privacy screen, I checked myself once more. Instead of the pyjamas and shawl, I was now wearing a black button-up, black pleated pants, and a black corset, paired with a red cardigan. I kept my hair down, but braided a few bits of it, paired with combat boots and glasses.
"Say, what is the deal with those two goddesses?" I commented, walking over to the table, "Before we left Connery Village, I overheard a few villagers talking about how Wenora also vanished from her village. Do you guys have any idea why?"
"..."
"..."
Instead of responding like usual, the two of them just stared at me in shock. Sephtis opened his mouth and closed it again a few times, and Lorenzo simply just raised a trembling finger at me.
"What? You two look like you saw a ghost. Is there something on my face or what?" I questioned, raising my eyebrows and putting my hands on my hips.
"Wh-Who are you and what did you do with Kallisto?" Sephtis asked, his ears and tail drooping as he looked at me wth shock.
"..." I stared at them with annoyed disbelief for a moment, not knowing if they were being serious or not, "You fucking fools, it's still me! Just, not with my disguise on…"
"O-Oh…Wait, what do you mean, Kallisto, isn't his name Lev?" Lorenzo replied in confusion, looking at Sephtis with a face of disbelief.
"Ugh, I was wanting to avoid this, but I guess I had to explain at some point," I sighed, my headache coming back more prominent than it was earlier, "My name is Lev Andraste, I am a half-dark elf and a viscount of the Quare kingdom. The version of me that you saw before was a disguise, since I'm here on vacation and not on official business, and without the royal court of Silversun knowing, so I wore a disguise to hide my identity."
'Well, that's only half of it…though the last part isn't exactly why I'm wearing a disguise, its also a good reason to.'
"...Makes sense, okay, I understand," Lorenzo sat back with his arms crossed, nodding in understanding.
"Indeed, if that is your reasoning, then as your student, I won't question anymore than I already have." Sephtis also nodded in understanding, his tail wagging, perhaps due to being happy at knowing a secret of mine.
"...Wow, you two really are fools," I mumbled, my face twisting in displeased bewilderment.
"Hm, what did you say, teacher?" Sephtis wondered, tilting his head, which made him look extra cute and pulling my heart a bit.
"N-Nothing, can we get back to the topic at hand?" I reminded, brushing off that last conversation topic. Though they were fools, the two of them were still useful when it came to information about the Silversun Kingdom.
"Right, you wanted to know the relationship between Wenora and Jocasta, no?" Lorenzo guessed, figuring that that was what I meant in my earlier statement.
"Yes, that's correct. I mean, it would be odd why the followers of Jocasta were worrying about the goddess of another village, right?" I reaffirmed, finally sitting down and taking a sip of the black coffee in front of me.
"Unfortunately, that is how it normally would be…Except that Jocasta and Wenora are sister goddesses, so it would be strange if both of them just miraculously just disappeared along with their clergy," Lorenzo continued. I grabbed the pen and notebook I left on the table before I changed and began writing things down.
"Hm, now that you mention it, when I lived in Connery Village, the other villagers didn't seem to pay the fact any mind," Sephtis added, taking a sip of his coffee before wearing a sour face and pushing it away.
"Odd, you would think they would be at least in a little disarray," I agreed, suddenly being reminded of what the doctor said when Eveleen and I took Sephtis and Daelan there, "Now that I think about it, Sephtis, when I took you to the doctor to get yours and Daelans wounds treated, the doctor seemed saddened but over all didn't care."
"You're right! And when you asked about it, he only gave a brief explanation…very strange," Sephtis trailed off in thought, fiddling with the straps of his wrist armor.
"Um, sorry, but what exactly is 'Connery Village,' and what exactly does it have to do with the goddesses?" Lorenzo asked with an awkward smile, tilting his head every so slightly.
"...Right, I just realized we were talking about it without even giving you a backstory, hehe," Sephtis gave an awkward laugh, his ears twitching and tail no longer swaying.
"Connery Village is where the goddess Jocasta's clergy mainly was, though I don't know if there were any other villages that worshiped her," I explained, tapping Sephtis' foot with my own.
Sephtis did a little jolt and looked over at me with flushed cheeks, and I simply gave him a reassuring smile, as if saying, 'it's alright, it's easy to overlook explaining things that you are familiar with!'
"Yes, that's exactly it. Thank you for explaining, Teacher," He commented, tail wagging and cheeks still flushed.
"Oh, okay, that makes sense! Kind of like the village where my mother grew up!" Lornezo nodded and smiled.
"Mmm, yeah, though I don't know much about you and your mother, I would assume so. Especially since you are her seem to know so much about Wenora and her relationship with Jocasta," I replied, writing a few more things down in my journal.
We spoke a bit more, ending the topic on the fact that we didn't have much more to go off of. Finally, remembering what I really wanted to discuss, I put away my journal and got back on track.
"Well, changing topics, how long exactly was I out for?" I interjected, taking the last sip of my coffee.
Lorenzo and Sephtis looked at each other for a moment, probably communicating something to each other somehow. Then Sephtis sighed and looked at me nervously, hinting that the answer I was going to get wasn't going to be good.
"A-After you were sort of, knocked out, one could say, a strange greenish purplish smoke started to rise from your neck," He began, but paused to take a deep breath, "Inubat then turned her attention towards us, during which, your body kind of just picked up its own head and reattached it."
"...Are you being fucking for real?!" I asked, shocked by what I was hearing, my mouth hanging open like a fish's.
'I knew this body was immortal, and had great healing properties after it gained that healing ability, but damn.'
"Yes, everything he just recalled is true," Lorenzo assured, resuming where Sephtis left off, "After which, 'you' simply just smiled at Inubat, who was baffled, then walked over and started beating the everloving crap out of her, not letting her block any of your attacks…fucking awesome if I have to be honest!"
Lorenzo's eyes shone on that last bit, creeping me out a little. I looked over at Sephtis for any signs that this was all made up, but he looked at me with the same look as Lorenzo, tail wagging.
"Ugh, fuck, this is too much," I sighed, slouching in my seat, staring up at the ceiling, a headache starting to form.
"This is why we were hesitant to tell you, we didn't want you to freak out, especially after you'd been unconscious for the last three days-" Sephtis assured with sympathy, a frown on his face but tail still wagging, even after I cut him off.
"THREE DAYS!? It's been three days?! What didn't you tell me?!" I shouted, shooting up from my seat, worry spreading across my face.
"M-My apologies, I didn't think it'd be that much of a worry if we were three days behind," Sephtis apologized, flinching at my outburst, his tail pausing its movements.
"Haaa, it's not your fault, Sephtis. I never really told you why I was in such a hurry to get to Eleos City in the first place, did I?" I realized, sitting down and rubbing my temples.
"Hm, is it something so important that you would risk your health for in order to be there in time?" Lorenzo questioned, suddenly straight-faced, picking at his fingers.
I thought for a moment about what would happen if Praxis were dead if I made it there. I didn't even know the guy, but I did know that it was vital that he lived. After all, if I couldn't save him, then I wouldn't be able to fulfill my purpose for being brought into this damn world.
"...Yes, yes it is," I answered, sitting up straight with a look of saddened guilt flooding my face. This truly wasn't something that should affect me this much, yet I was.
"Then we can leave in a few hours," Lorenzo resumed, smiling, "While we don't have any horses at the moment, the guild master is an old friend of my Father, I'm sure he would be more than happy to lend us a few steeds!"
I looked at Lorenzo with shock for a moment, unsure of whether to take his offer or not. Sephtis touched my arm in reassurance, nodding at me to accept. Whatever bonding they had while I was out showed that Lorenzo had a good deal of Sephtis' trust.
"Alright, please do so…thank you, Lorenzo, truly," I gave him a smile, one full of gratitude. It had been a long time since I'd ever had such an expression, but I thought it fit the favor.
'If my student trusts in him and his abilities, then I shall too. After all, a student reflects their teacher. If I don't want him to develop trust issues, then I have to at least pretend like I don't have them.'
"Of course. As the one who helped me defend my hometown, I am happy to be of assistance. Well then, I shall be back shortly. Start getting packed for now," Lorenzo smiled, standing down a leaving the room, making sure to close the door behind him.
I got up from my seat, petting Sephtis on the head on my way over to my trunk. Opening it, I pulled out a simple pair of black pleted pants, a button-up shirt with a ruffle tie, a cropped jacket, a corset belt, and a pair of long black boots.
"Go to your room and get changed," I told Sephtis, smiling over at him with a mischievous grin, "We aren't going to rest till we get to Eleos City, so make sure to wear something you'll be comfortable riding in!"
"O-Okay! Should I get something similar to what you pulled out?" Sephtis asked, standing up and shuffling the sleeve of his shirt.
'Hm, as cute as it would be to wear matching outfits, and satisfying to see his collarbones popping out from his shirt, it's best to let him decide.' I thought, shoving my perverse thoughts down again.
"Eh, just wear what you want! It's best to make sure you are comfortable than anything else," I suggested, walking back behind the privacy screen to change.
