Chapter 2 - Chapter 02: The younger brother is the protagonist

After gaining past life memories, Khan Evangeline immediately realized that the jack-a-dandy guy in his person in the past seemed to no longer exist. It was as if he had broken the cocoon, came out of his rotten shell, and replaced it with the person he was in his previous life. A daredevil who only knows how to make money, despite all challenges.

Khan's past life could do almost anything, but he wasn't a superman either, so he had to die in the end because his fate was settled.

Originally, he was also a man with a mind and knew how to seize opportunities. He is skilled and knows how to apply wisely and quickly. But his luck was not proportional to his abilities. Anyway, his struggling life before in his previous life was better than many people, but finally, he still didn't reach the peak he had always wanted. Then, in the end, he received the end of a young death.

But why did he die? How did he depart this world? Where did he pass away? Khan couldn't remember anything, although the memories of his past life were still deeply embedded in the footage of the time.

He couldn't remember his name from his previous life, even his young sister's name. He can accept the fact that he forgot his own name but his sister's… Why could I forget her name? In his entire life, the person that he called the most by name was his sister.

Yet unexpectedly, he was reincarnated into the novel. Furthermore, it was a novel that his young sister had written for nearly ten years. She always palavered for the whole plot of the novel, "The Legend of Reincarnation", with him. It's a very long fantasy, adventure story.

The problem was, although he took pride in reincarnating into a subordinate character who was the main character's brother, a second later, he bowed his head and observed a moment of silence for the tragic fate of not living to a great age.

He's about to lose his life. So what can save him?

Khan thought about the plot, "That right, I gotta brainstorm". What is the most powerful thing in "The Legend of Reincarnation" without needing to resort to pure power? He had just finished thinking in his head when the sound of memory resounded in his ears - a familiar voice echoed from the subconscious

And suddenly he felt like time was going by slowly. The wolf's growl also faded and was drowned out by another sound source.

- What do you think is the most powerful thing in "The Legend of Reincarnation"?

- It's not the protagonist?

- Well, the main character is of course the best, but he is not always the most powerful. Since the main character's mightiness is essential, why do I have to guess you with such an easy answer?

- In short, what is the most powerful? I don't have time to sit and listen to you talk. If you don't answer, go away!

- This brute nature of you... if outsiders knew, it would be shocking. They don't know they've been tricked… Ah ah, don't fight me! I say, I say!

- Speak.

- There are many mighty things in "The Legend of Reincarnation", but there is one that is more powerful because it does not depend on talent or strength. You just need to know its existence, master it, and use it. Can you guess?… Okay, don't glare at me. Listen carefully! The powerful thing I'm talking about is… Divine Language.

- Divine Language? The language of the Gods? An idiot like you wants to invent another language?

- You look down on me... Divine Language is not a language to communicate, it is the clearest and most effective proof of the power and existence of the noblest god. Obviously, only gods or children chosen by them could use Divine Words. I'm thinking more about this setup, but overall it's cool, isn't it?

- No.

- I know, of course, it has to be cool!

- No.

- Hehe! Let me teach you a phrase of the Divine Language first! So you had to raise his ears to hear clearly.

- Don't talk bullshit!

- Hey, the first phrase is…

Khan's eyes widened as the memory receded like a tidal wave returning to the ocean. The image of his only young sister rambling incessantly about the plot once again sank deeper into a memory that he could barely reach, while he already knew the plot existed. But when he wondered about any detail, the memories of the two brothers' conversation about "The Legend of Reincarnation" would immediately appear. And most likely, the content of the conversation inevitably comes back to his mind and will relate to that detail in the original.

Although Khan had yet to find a well-grounded reason, he did not need to rush to find it right now.

Slowing time is finally flowing in its rhythm with this fantasy world. The wolf was frantically running towards Khan and pounced in a vicious hunting posture.

Khan stood still, not running away. His mouth parted and a soft voice spoke.

"Oak na uth."

In the air, Khan's voice softly uttered Divine Language. The invisible, psychic wind swept across and passed through the sparse foliage on the high trees, creating a mass of rustling sounds interspersed with chanting that does not belong to this world.

"O unenlightened children

Don't be forever immersed in ignorance

The dawn you saw today

It will be different from the dawn of the next day. "

Following the Divine Speech that Khan had just used, he heard a sweet, clear song, but it was unreal. He didn't know what this represented. It was a voice - a singing voice beyond the control of nature, far away and echoing from all directions responding to his call.

The wolf's hunting movements suddenly froze, like a puppet whose strings had been cut off from its control joints, it fell to the ground with a heavy thud. Finally, its four legs wobbled backward in a state of extreme fear. Its throat groaned as if someone squeezed it, carrying away its breath and its ferocious appearance. And then, after all the fear that had driven him to the end, the wolf resigned himself to lying on his stomach in a lowly kneeling position.

And Khan could still see how trembling and scared that wolf was.

So, the Divine Word really works.

Khan calmly watched the trembling wolf, he didn't know if what he was thinking was correct, so he opened his mouth.

"Do you understand human language?"

The space of the forest is calm and quiet despite the gentle wind blowing.

What the hell am I doing?

"How can wolves understand the human language..." laughed Khan to himself, he glanced at the wolf stealthily raising its head to look at him, then it turned and walked away.

Seems like a long time has passed, Khan watches over, and get around. Hopefully, the kidnappers have already left the place and have no intention of looking for the hostages. Khan lazily dragged each step. He is currently incompetent, with below-average physical strength, and no self-defense skills. Even if those kidnappers were a bunch of misfits, he wouldn't be able to cope.

After walking a short distance, Khan tilted his head slightly and glanced over his shoulder. He dimly saw the wolf following him. He paused for a moment, and the wolf also stopped. He lifted his foot and continued, the wolf also followed. The wolf, which keeps its distance, is also very intelligent, not too close to creating a sense of danger, but not too far away for him to remain within its protection range.

Khan was satisfied and kept going forward. Apparently, the wolf thought he was a child of some god, so he wanted to follow him in order to gain some benefit. What a smart wolf. It's a pity that he is more of a villain than a minor character, and very useless. But having a guard wolf on the way home isn't bad either.

Feign ignorance, Khan comfortably slows down his steps, just like taking a walk.

On the way back he did not see any kidnappers, the hunter's house in the forest was almost half burned and there was no one there. Khan just glanced at it and ignored it. Maybe because his past life memories returned, his memory seemed to be better, and his premonitions were also much sharper. He quickly left the forest. Tired feet want to die. His body was still too weak to exercise vigorously for a long time, but Khan did not stop to rest to relieve fatigue but continued along the main road.

Eventually, Khan also returned to the town where he would receive the land when he became a Viscount, the town of Sylvia. The town is still part of Count Evangeline's colony, located in the Berkley region on the map of the Arevik Empire. As soon as Khan entered the town, Khan saw many soldiers bearing the imprint of the Evangeline family interrogating the people and looking for something. Then, a soldier happened to turn his head and saw Khan.

"Viscount Evangeline!" cried the voiceless man out, very loudly.

* * *

After returning to Sylvia town's most majestic mansion, Khan quickly sent his servants to prepare water for bathing and instructed the soldiers to quickly capture the kidnappers and inform Count Evangeline that he had been safe to return to the mansion. He also did not forget to warn the wolf if it still wanted to follow him, it should not touch anyone in the mansion, and then let it lie dormant outside the main house's door.

From beginning to end, Khan's orders and sequence of actions were very decisive, without the appearance of a useless person who only knew how to play debauchery before.

Khan didn't really care what the servants thought or wondered. Even if he had memories of his past life, he couldn't deny that he had lived in this life for nineteen, nearly twenty years, used to the attitude that a noble should have towards servants. He has no intention of changing anything.

Just like before, he let the maids who came in to serve him bathe in the large bath eligible for an intimate party. Oh no, it's a bit different that he doesn't have any plans to play tricks with the maids anymore, obviously doesn't have any partying thoughts of this magnitude either. Well, if he didn't recall the memories of his previous life, he'd probably live a rotten life for the rest of his life. For him, this reincarnation was a failure.

Khan pretended not to see the worried look of the maids but lay still in the tub, enjoying the treatment of a noble and organizing his thoughts.

"The Legend of Reincarnation" is a novel written by my only young sister in a previous life. She has been patient for ten years but still has not finished this novel. Yes, unfinished, it has no official ending.

Because of the author's brother, Khan was forced to listen to her chattering non-stop all the content of that novel many times, even though he was not very interested. It should be difficult for him to forget the content of the novel "The Legend of Reincarnation". But now, his mind was filled with information from two lifetimes, so his memory was confused and a bit messy.

He remembered a lot of things from his previous life, and at the same time forgot a lot of things.

"The Legend of Reincarnation" is written from the first-person perspective of the protagonist, Saul Evangeline. Because Khan is limited by the character's subjective perspective, there are also some details in the content that he can't remember very clearly. The veil covering the truth needs to be lifted.

However, it's a blessing or a curse, Khan still vaguely remembers some details outlined in the plot, and he doesn't know if those details will appear in the main plot later or not.

But the most important is that, when once Khan was involved in any detail in the plot, somehow the memory that is being closed immediately opens, and the subconscious space shows the scene of the two brothers discussing "plot content" in the past life.

On the way back, he tried to wonder about some details of the plot, but the situation he expected to see was not repeated. It means... It cannot always when he wondered about the plot, the two brothers' discussion scene in the memory would also turn up.

After all, this situation of his can be considered a cheating tool that he is fortunate to have, but at the same time, it is also a twin-blade knife.

Even though he already knows the content, Khan is not stupid to think to change the plot in his own way. Or, he doesn't need to do anything, just sit still and watch the plot unfold. No, if that's true, he's dead.

However, he also changed the original content. At least Khan Evangeline isn't dead now.

But once he lets the storyline go so far, the cheat tool like "knows his content in advance" won't be able to use it either. The only greatest fear thing now was the butterfly effect.

"Let's all go out! If I don't call, no one is allowed to come in." Khan rubbed his temples and casually ordered the maids to go away.

They looked startled, but soon they were pulling each other out as instructed with expressions filled with relief. Khan doesn't care. What he cared about most right now was something else, it was much more important.

"I have to act before the main plot happens."

Khan stood up from the tub, water running down his sickly lifeless body. He thought he should make a timetable to exercise his body. There's still a lot to do.

He took the towel to wipe his body personally, then he put on his own clothes. Khan stepped out of a bathroom larger than his bedroom in his previous life. For he, the only joy in this life will probably be to live in luxury and riches.

Okay, with the premise that I mustn't die soon.

As soon as he stepped out of the bathroom, he heard a knock on the door and the voice of the maid announcing from outside.

"Sir, Saul… came and stood at the door. Would you like to…"

Khan raised his eyebrows when he heard the maid say Saul had arrived. She looks as if she wants to get rid of Saul in his stead, everyone knows that "Khan" doesn't like that little brother, right? But the main character came a bit early…

Has the butterfly effect started?

"Come in."

The protagonist of the "Legend of Reincarnation" is Saul Evangeline, the illegitimate child of Count Evangeline, his half-brother in this world. In the original content, Saul is also incompetent like him, unable to sense any magic in his body. But unlike Khan, the main character Saul has no intention of giving up everything like his brother.

Saul frantically practiced swords with the desire to become a knight. And like the forever setting of the main character - the author's darling, he works a little harder in sword training than ordinary people and has been declared a genius. Currently, Saul is only seventeen years old, but his ability has already leaped from "the rank of Swordsman" to "the rank of Sword Master", close to approaching "the rank of Sword Saint".

That's great, but Saul is still not respected or noticed by the Earl, even though he bluntly tells the main character that, "you are not capable of inheriting the Earl's seat".

Saul is very disappointed, he always wants to show his ability to get the attention of his father, and the respect of his brother, not the desire for a title. But all hope was shattered by the indifference and frigidity of loved ones. After that, the main character ran away from home, escaped from a house that was not his family, and joined a group of mercenaries.

And then the adventure plays out, and the protagonist with a painful past becomes a legend.

The main character reaches the climax and then dies.

Khan sat on a high-backed chair upholstered, he tilted his head and propped up his hand on the side of his head to watch as the main character entered. This is a fantasy novel world, so it's not surprising that he has berin blue hair. Khan vaguely remembers that the main character's eyes are the same color but lighter. Khan smiled as he watched Saul walk in front of him with timid steps, and always kept his head down, not daring to look straight.

After his death due to betrayal in the plot, the protagonist's time becomes an hourglass reversed, returning to his claustrophobic childhood in the Count's family.

Go back to the beginning. This is the real "The Legend of Reincarnation".

"Sir, I apologize for being late." Saul bowed to Khan, then quickly gave his regards. "I heard you were kidnapped, are you okay?"

Considering the tone of the voice, Saul's anxiety wasn't faking it either. So it seems the main character really hasn't been reincarnated. Should I be happy? Oh yes, why not?

"No problem. Luckily, I was saved by a wolf, and when you go in, you will see it in front of the main house." sighed Khan, speaking in a fervent tone. "The gods heard my humble wish and sent a messenger to save this sinner, I was touched by this blessing of the benevolent gods. In the moment of being caught and facing danger without knowing whether we will live or die, I unconsciously think about how rotten and corrupt our former self is! I swore to myself in my heart that, on the way back, I would change and become a better person, worthy of the privileges given to me by the gods!"

Crazy, I did a bit too much… In his mind almost wanted to vomit at the cheesy words he uttered. But on the surface, he still pretended to be a faithful follower of the gods. After all, the existence of gods in this world is absolutely unquestionable. But he avoided saying the noble god's name, he didn't want the gods to hear his lies. If not, everything will turn out to be worse.

Saul froze, pale blue eyes staring at him as if seeing a monster.

That's right, be surprised. There will be many things that make you more surprised in the future.

Khan covered his mouth with his hand as if he couldn't contain his emotions, but actually to hide the smile that was forming on his lips.

If the main character returns, he will surely kill Khan if he finds him alive.

Because it was Khan in the main character's previous life who forced and kicked him out of his beloved home. He even told the Count to cross his name out of the Evangeline family tree. In short, it was the corrupt Khan who caused Saul's chain of misfortunes nothing more, nothing less.

The main character, who returned, was a madman.

Besides, he's also a powerful maniac.

"Are you okay?" asked Saul suspiciously.

Although his face was worried, there was still doubt in his eyes. He was questioning Khan's oath. But what if Saul the mad dog wakes up? Well, even with the slightest doubt, he will kill the opponent without any more hesitation.

"No, I'm fine. Thanks to the gods, I'm all right." Khan gave a perfect smile, he had laughed like this more than a thousand times in his previous life. A social smile - charity - without flaws. "I know this is hard to believe, but I really want to change myself. Saul, will you help me?"

Saul jumped, his eyes widened. It's just that this surprised fawn figure didn't suit the main character's image, but well, he didn't have to care about that.

Khan knew what Saul was marveling at. Because he called Saul's name.

The original content's Khan never called Saul by name, instead calling him "snot, bastard, mixed-race...", full of scornful words.

"B-Brother… Brother Khan…?" called Saul hesitantly out his name.

Khan Evangeline in the original story, never allowed Saul to call his name, instead, he had to call him "master" or "sir", like a common servant.

"Yes, It's me, your brother." smiled Khan gently.

The role of the main character's brother has already begun.
