Chapter 349 - Book 13: Part 2 – Fighting A Sovereign

Ace had no idea what made his master so confident; after all, not only was Orloff about to become an Overgod, who, by all intents and purposes, should be no weaker than him, Orloff was made up of two entities, and his other entity, Augusta, was the current Chief Sovereign of Fate.

It meant that should the two fuse back together, and it be Orloff's personality that took the leading role, with the additional Willpower of their Sovereign Clone, it would make "Orlusta" significantly stronger than Aiden.

Still, like his friends had in him, Ace had unwavering confidence in his master. If Aiden said he would hold up the sky for him, then that's exactly what he would do!

Orloff was still completing his fusion when the other Sovereigns and top experts of the Yulan Plane arrived.

Without fail, they all sighed helplessly as they saw that Orloff had already begun merging with the Overgod Spark, and then again when Arianna, who woke up from her epiphany not long after, was given the Chief Sovereign Spark of Light.

The only person who felt differently was Augusta. As he watched his "other self' become an Overgod, he couldn't help but grin ecstatically at the increase in power he was about to be afforded as the other persona of an Overgod – he couldn't wait to find Phueus and have a rematch.

After his wife became the Chief Sovereign of Light, Aiden told everyone that there was no point waiting here – if they had nothing better to do, they may as well get back to their training as it would take Orloff a year to complete his initial merge with the Overgod Spark.

According to Aiden, there were two parts to becoming an Overgod. The first was the initial stage that Orloff was experiencing now, which was creating his Overgod's Divine Body.

The body of a Sovereign was made of a fusion of Divine Power and Spiritual Essence, as for an Overgod, theirs was made of a fusion of Divine Power, Spiritual Essence, and Willpower.

It had to be understood that if broken down, the Divine Power of an Overgod was 1000 times more powerful than that of a Chief Sovereign, as was their Spiritual Essence.

As for their Willpower, they had a full 200 units.

For that to really be put into perspective, one had to understand the breakdown of Willpower for each realm:

High God Paragon – 1 unit Lesser Sovereign – 20 units Lesser Paragon Sovereign – 21 units Intermediate Sovereign – 40 units Intermediate Paragon Sovereign – 41 units Chief Sovereign – 80 units Chief Paragon Sovereign – 81 units Overgod – 200

Even for the Sovereigns of Fate who received additional portions of Will after winning ten straight Planar Wars, the portions of Will each Sovereign were only as follows:

Lesser Sovereign – 1 units Intermediate Sovereigns – 5 units Chief Sovereign – 10 units

The biggest reason Orloff was previously revered as the most powerful Sovereign in existence – before Phueus revealed his power – was because he was thought to have a whole 91 units, as opposed to the 81 units of the other paragon-level Chief Sovereigns.

Still, whether it was Orloff then, or Augusta now, their Chief Sovereign body didn't even have half of the Willpower of an Overgod.

And that didn't even take into consideration the fact that the fusion of Willpower, Spiritual Essence, and Divine Power wasn't simply the sum of all parts. Instead, it multiplied the overall power several times over.

It could clearly be seen why Overgods were so much more powerful than Sovereigns, and even that was just the first stage of the process to set the stage for the second and final stage.

According to Aiden, it was the second stage that truly separated Overgods from Sovereigns. The first stage created the body of an Overgod so that it was powerful enough to accept the faith of their element.

Everyone was capable of utilising the power of Faith, but whether it was deities, saints, or mortals, they could only harness the power of faith that was directed at them and them alone; as a result, even the deity who had accumulated the most faith couldn't even be said to have a fraction of a percent of a fraction of a percent of a Lesser Sovereign.

Part of what made Sovereigns so special was that they had access to 0.001% of the faith of their element. Granted, they had to share it between all seven Sovereigns, but it was still more than any deity or mortal could ever hope to achieve.

Still, aside from some supportive abilities, such as increasing their comprehension or being able to form an elemental incarnation into other realms, it didn't actually have much other use, but Overgods were a whole other story.

The amount of faith Overgods had access to allowed them to not only directly harness the power of Faith to increase the power of their attacks, as the embodiment of their element, they could also harness the power of faith to appear anywhere where in the universe with a thought.

When one thought of the meaning of the word "all-powerful," that was the sort of power one would think of.

It was only now they understood the true difference between Sovereigns and Overgods – in the face of an Overgod, even the most powerful of Sovereigns was no different than an ant.

Everyone was just about to go their separate ways and continue with their individual training when Ace suddenly erupted with a frightful killing intent.

Before any of them could even ask what happened, Ace took it upon himself to ask if Aiden could use his power to take him to a Material Plane by the name of the Muceal Plane.

Aiden raised an eyebrow but ultimately said nothing before doing as his disciple asked.

At the same time, in the Muceal Plane, a terrifying battle was taking place. A battle so terrifying that half the plane was being ravaged purely by the residual shockwaves.

On one side stood Killian and the other members of the Golden Sun Pirates, whilst on the other side was a genuine Sovereign.

It was only Yoruna, one of the Lesser Sovereigns of Water, but a Lesser Sovereign was still a Sovereign – an entity that no deity should be able to compete with and yet, Killian, with the help of Julius and the others using the [Constellation Battle Tactics], was barely able to withstand the Lesser Sovereign's onslaught – albeit only barely.

Thankfully, over the last few centuries, Julius had been able to tweak and improve their crew's incredible battle formation so that all members were able to channel their Willpower into a single person – in this case, Killian.

Unfortunately, even though every member of their crew had become a paragon in at least one path of one element, Killian only had access to 11 units of Will.

Considering how Yorun still wasn't a paragon himself, Killian's total was over half of his opponent's, but it was far from enough from the power he needed to give him a proper fight. All Killian could do was defend himself, and even that was only barely – his wounds were quickly piling up, and at the rate things were going, it wouldn't be long before he wouldn't be able to defend himself at all.

When leaving the Yulan Plane, Killian and the others had left confidently, correctly believing that unless it was a Sovereign, no one would be able to threaten them, and no Sovereign would be brave enough to dare attack them out of fear of Aiden, but unfortunately things progressed in a way they simply hadn't foreseen.

It all started after they returned to the Infernal Realm after having successfully completed their affairs in the Netherworld.

They had only returned to tell the Four Divine Beasts Clan – who were still very much on edge with their three most powerful and talented experts all having entered the Planar Battlefield – that everyone was alive and well and that Garott and Linley were residing in the Yulan Plane, training with a Sovereign, and would be back in a few thousand years.

But it was after they finished and were preparing to head out on the next leg of their adventure that they heard a rumour that a group of pirates were on the run from a famous commander in the Infernal Realm.

Usually, that wouldn't be enough to stir their interest in the slightest, but when they found out that the pirates in question were actually the Firm Nail Pirates – the Pirate Crew started by Qimai and Weslor, the same two children Kannal had taken in when they first arrived in the Celestial Realm all those years ago – it was impossible to sit back and do nothing.
