The commotion Li Huowang stirred up instantly shocked Granny Cui awake.
"Oh my, what's going on here? Weren't you just asking for rice? Why are you getting so worked up?" Her voice quivered, as if she truly had no idea what was happening.
Li Huowang, who was all set to strike, stopped, his gaze shifting unpredictably as he looked at the startled Granny Cui before him.
He couldn't tell whether she was pretending or genuinely clueless. By all accounts, if they were really interested in his Xinsu, this wasn't how they'd act.
"Are you asking or not? If not, I'm leaving." With that, Granny Cui made to lift her basket and head out.
Seeing this, Li Huowang suddenly didn't want her to leave. He dragged a nearby wooden stool over, planted himself down, sword in hand, sitting there with a domineering air. "I still have questions. Call over that Heavenly Venerable of yours."
Granny Cui hesitated for a moment, but eventually set her basket down and lit the incense again.
