Chapter 352 - Chapter 352 - It’s Been a While, Sakumo.

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

Moon, 43.

...

...

The first thing Minato did was create a barrier, placing 4 clones around the body and closing his hand like four pillars.

A red barrier began to rise, sealing off the area around Toneri's dead body.

He went to the decapitated corpse and began forming several hand seals, pulling two scrolls from his ninja pouches, while pressing one of them, which started to expand fūinjutsu lines straight onto his arm, creating an enormous tattoo along his right arm.

Unlike that time years ago when he used a combination of fūinjutsu to absorb Shukaku's bijū chakra—when he had invaded the Sand Village and needed chakra to send the shinobi he had rescued from Suna's prisons with Hiraishin—he had created an improved combination of the chakra absorption technique.

He created this set of seals not only to make it easier to take the chakra, but also to make it compatible with his chakra signature, with it changing as it passed through the seal to match the type of chakra Minato possessed.

It was something similar to Naruto when he shared his chakra, but a bit different, because it made the chakra enter him with the seal itself performing the combination. With Mito's absorption seal, there was none of that, and the chakra forced its way in, which caused damage to him. Now there was no longer that piercing pain when he placed his hand on the headless body and felt the chakra flowing, guiding it to the other side of the body.

With his other hand, he placed it over the second scroll filled with fūinjutsu combinations and pressed the circle covered in symbols.

Green chakra began to leave the Ōtsutsuki's body and surged toward the sealing hand, which connected to the other hand and deposited it into the other scroll, passing through Minato's body until it entered the second scroll. As Minato formed that bridge—draining from one side and storing on the other—he kept the barrier up only so the chakra wouldn't leak out; he would collect even the chakra dissipating into the air.

After a while, storing chakra in the scroll in his left hand, he managed to drain everything, including the chakra in the air, which he absorbed right after.

After sealing the chakra-filled scroll and putting it away, he opened a new one and placed Toneri's body and head inside it to preserve them; he would need Toneri's genetics as well if he wanted Hanabi to be able to awaken her rinnegan.

"Good," Minato said when everything was finished.

The head and body were no longer there. The barrier began to dissolve, his clones waited for his order, and now he was alone on the Moon—now, literally alone.

He looked toward the clan's village and crossed his arms once more, creating more than two hundred clones to add to the other 4.

"Investigate everything. Everywhere." That was the order. Quickly, the clones surged through the place.

The clones entered each of the houses, investigating scrolls and documents—anything left behind by the people. They had created their own language, and Minato would have to study it later. Even so, he began collecting everything he found into other storage scrolls.

The clones eventually found the vault. There were the clan's most important scrolls, as well as valuable jutsu and documents, all written in that strange language created there, a symbolic language.

The clan seemed to have been extremely cautious with intruders, if any had ever existed among Hamura's descendants, living isolated here on the Moon without anyone on the planet knowing of their existence... However, that was clearly an emergency plan, with all information gathered in a single place.

Nothing there could be deciphered easily. Minato knew it would take some time, but for now, he simply collected everything he deemed necessary.

When he felt he had enough, he left some marks scattered throughout the clan and even across the Moon's surface, after leaving the settlement and heading back outside.

He had now dispelled all the clones, accumulating more than 15 storage scrolls.

His gaze turned toward the planet. He could not help but admire that gigantic blue sphere, as if it were composed of two or three visible continents. Small bright points stood out across its surface.

It was not a civilization as advanced as Earth, where entire cities would shine intensely. Still, it was possible to identify five main points, far brighter than the others—the five main villages of the ninja world, with the highest concentration of houses. There were also some other villages in smaller countries and cities, less bright, scattered across the continent.

Minato remained there for quite a while, looking at the planet, feeling how insignificant he was before the cosmos. Even so, he now had a life in that world... Twelve years had passed since he had arrived in this universe... He had built a life that, even if insignificant to the entire universe, would one day perish, and no one beyond that world would ever know who he was.

Even so, it was his life. And he would live it to the fullest, alongside his family, and he would protect that world from the dangers that would come in the future.

'Thinking about it… this is an interesting place to bring each of my wives for a romantic date. They'll love it—after all, what man can take his wife on a trip to the Moon?', Minato made a mental note as he flexed his knees.

He had already gathered all kinds of information and stored everything in his scrolls. There was no longer any reason to remain there. So he simply shot toward Earth, transforming into light as he advanced like a shooting star.

Minato continued traveling through space for a few more minutes before finally entering the planet's atmosphere and beginning to descend with even greater force as gravity was added to his fall.

He was no longer above the point where Uzushiogakure's floating island was located, but he could travel there by flying after the Earth's rotation changed its position.

Minato did not go to the island; his destination was something else now. He had pointed directly toward the center of the Land of Fire, in the heart of the Elemental Nations, and advanced in that direction without hesitation.

He was heading straight for Konoha. As he continued descending through the sky, some people in various parts of the region—those who could see him falling in the form of light—looked at that glow descending from the heavens, believing it to be a shooting star.

Children and even adults made wishes, pointing toward the sky.

Unfortunately for them, Minato was not someone who granted wishes. He simply continued falling for a while, until he got close enough to vanish as if he were nothing, using Hiraishin. He teleported into Konoha while still in the sky above the village.

Minato crossed the barrier without being detected thanks to teleportation and appeared in a corner of the village, landing among the branches of a tree, hidden from the night patrols and the ANBU.

He quickly released his Observation Haki and began mapping the entire village. He recognized many of his former companions there:

Lady Gōrete putting the orphanage children to sleep;

Might Duy and his son training in the courtyard even in the darkness of the night;

Kakashi training at the Hatake clan pavilion;

Tsunade arguing about something with her brother; and Yamato sleeping while leaning against a door, exhausted from training so much.

The clans seemed calm, with nothing noteworthy. However, in the Sarutobi clan, Hiruzen was having dinner with his wife in silence. There was no longer any air of authority about him like before. He was no longer the Hokage, nor could he interfere in the village's politics anymore.

Minato noticed some changes among the advisor clans; they had clearly lost a great deal in recent months. The village itself seemed to hate them to some extent, and they had fallen into ostracism.

In the Hokage's office, there was someone working tirelessly. The one who had assumed the role of Hokage was Sakumo Hatake.

Minato was satisfied with that. Sakumo deserved the recognition that had once been taken from him, and when he had been so desperate as to consider taking his own life out of shame, Minato had helped him with some advice and by asking to become his apprentice in kenjutsu. Somehow, that had been enough to keep Sakumo from seeking suicide.

He had triumphed. Now he held the position of Hokage, even if it was temporary, according to Jiraiya.

Minato also searched for his former teacher and found him conducting research.

'Some things never change...' Minato thought as he searched for the third Sannin.

He was not in the village.

However, Minato searched the surroundings of the village and found what he was looking for.

Orochimaru had finally begun to create his laboratories. Minato vanished and headed in that direction.

He was after his research; he needed it to implement the genetics of Hamura into Hanabi.

Minato moved through Konoha without being detected. He had very refined stealth techniques, and Jiraiya had taught him well during ultra-secret missions in the Land of Rain.

He arrived at the location and easily found the hidden entrance using Haki.

He entered it and found himself inside Orochimaru's laboratory. The barriers did not stop him; he already knew what was inside, but seeing it with his own eyes, he could not help but feel anger.

There were people.

People used in experiments.

That bastard had started doing this again, even without Danzō to finance him.

There were only dead people left, but all kinds of experiments had been performed on them. Orochimaru had already begun working on things like the Curse Mark, but Minato doubted he had already found Jūgo and was working with him… or perhaps he was. Minato still did not know.

In any case, Minato went straight to the research. He began collecting everything related to genetics. He would conduct research together with Tsuna; she was versatile. Even his wife's mother, Tsunade, could help, given her experience implementing the Mokuton arm in Nawaki.

Minato did not just spend some time doing that; he also began gathering evidence against Orochimaru. He found two more laboratories within the village.

He left the laboratory and went after another facility. Orochimaru was truly bold, even without his sensei as Hokage or Danzō alive.

Then he saw something that filled him with fury.

Two missing children had come from the orphanage where Minato had grown up. Orochimaru had captured them four months ago. Neither of them survived the experiments, and he had written Minato's name in his research notes. He wanted to know whether the fact that Minato came from that orphanage—being the strongest shinobi in the world at that moment—meant there was something unusual there. He had been disappointed with the results, and Minato would not let Orochimaru escape if he ever saw him.

For now, Minato would leave him cornered. With that decided, he headed straight for the Hokage's building.

Sakumo was reading mission reports. The movements of the Elemental Nations were becoming increasingly evident.

They were preparing for war, and everyone had their eyes on Konoha.

They wanted revenge for what had happened to the Uzumaki. Their Kage, their ninja forces, had been destroyed, and even Bijū had been lost. They wanted Konoha to compensate for what they had lost. Obviously, no one in Konoha would agree to something like that.

That was why they were preparing to gain strength. They were amassing power, trying to recover what they had lost in the war against Minato and the Uzumaki.

Minato… It was a name Sakumo thought about often since he had left Konoha. The boy fought for what he believed in, even if it meant going against the village. In that regard, the boy was far braver than he himself had been. When he had been condemned by the village, he had thought about taking his own life. Minato might not have felt the same pressure from the village, but even so, he had acted with his head held high and certainly knew he would be judged by everyone. Still, he did it.

Sakumo admired that about Minato. He hoped he would return, that Konoha would have him back. Everyone felt the same. He should be the one to wear the Hokage's hat, but Jiraiya had said that Minato would not return now, that he was training, and that he could not yet be what Konoha expected of him.

'Training… What kind of strength does he want to achieve when he can already kill Kage so easily?' Sakumo wondered.

In any case, he continued signing a few missions and reading reports when a wave of pressure entered the office, alarming him. In the same instant, he moved into a battle stance, expecting his guards on the roof to do the same.

But then…

Bodies began to fall from the ceiling. An entire squad of ANBU assigned to his protection collapsed onto the floor, unconscious. Sakumo stared in shock, not knowing what had happened or what could have taken down the village's elite shinobi in an instant.

Until someone appeared in the middle of the room, standing before the unconscious ANBU bodies.

"It's been a while, Sakumo. Don't worry, I only knocked them out. They're fine—just unconscious." The young voice said, and Sakumo saw the blond standing there without a headband, wearing casual black clothes.

It was Minato Namikaze, and there was nothing that could have surprised Sakumo more that night.
