Chapter 218 - Chapter 218 - Some Heads for Tywin.

[Chapter Size: 2800 Words.]

Third Person POV.

Westerlands.

...

...

Conquering the castle was not difficult after the gate broke with a Fus Ro Dah and, at maximum potential, even breaking part of the wall.

In any case, his troops entered while he continued destroying the enemy in the castle courtyard, unleashing bursts of Thu'um. The defenders could no longer maintain formation against Daemon, while the arrows were ineffective with him raising a shield around himself.

In the end, the castle was taken.

Daemon gave orders to place everyone under custody and take everyone to the courtyard, without exception, including the people who were hiding inside the castle, among them, the Lannisters themselves.

"Let's see what we have here", Jon spoke calmly a moment after everyone was organized in the courtyard surrounded by his men around the defeated, it was a crowd of people kneeling.

His gaze, however, focused personally on a blonde woman, with a somewhat full body — not fat, but slightly chubby. She stared at him with hatred and fear mixed in her eyes.

"You must be Genna Lannister", Jon said naturally.

He knew her. After all, he had spied on her with his birds while observing the enemy formation. Even having total advantage, he still did not want to be surprised by any trap. Because of that, he always observed the enemy ever since he acquired the ability to spy on them, no matter how insignificant the enemy might seem. He had men to protect and did not want unnecessary casualties.

"Get this over with. I know you wish to destroy my family", Genna said with hatred in her tone.

"That is true. That is exactly what I intend to do", he replied in agreement, making the woman clench her fists.

"You have children, as I can see, and a Frey husband." Jon looked at the man beside her, who began to tremble. There was also a girl very similar to Genna, but much thinner, who began to cry. Not even Genna failed to tremble when Jon spoke of her children.

Jon still kept his gaze on the girl. "She is not your daughter, right? What is your name? Joy Hill, if I am not mistaken." Jon said to the crying girl, who was more or less the same age as Sansa. "Well, she can be spared for now", he said, making the girl look at him in surprise.

"You are a bastard. You do not bear the Lannister name. Therefore, I do not intend to make you share the same fate as your family. So be thankful for being born a bastard after all...", he spoke calmly.

"But Aunt Genna… are you going to kill her?", the girl exclaimed, still crying, even after Jon's words.

"Not necessarily. I will send her to the Silent Sisters. As she had nothing to do with the conflict, just like Kevan Lannister's wife, Dorna, who is already in our hands along with her daughter, I intend to erase her name in a way not so violent."

"So that's how it is? You are simply going to condemn us? No king would do such a thing! You are as mad as your grandfather!", Genna snarled, spitting the words.

"Would you prefer that I killed all of you? There are several ways to do it painlessly. I could even use poisons." Daemon spoke, and Genna could not even respond.

"In any case, your brother did not think much about it when he decided to execute my brother and my sister in King's Landing when they were only a child and a baby, did he? I am not acting very differently from him... You could even say that those responsible were your vassals who did it, but let's be honest: no Lannister vassal would do anything that Tywin did not allow." Jon declared, pausing. Then, he continued.

"That is why Casterly Rock will no longer belong to the Lannisters. That is why your family will be destroyed. Those who had no direct action in everything that happened may not be executed, but will be sent to the Wall or to the Silent Sisters according to their gender. Even the children. The name Lannister will be erased from history, and I want the name Tywin to be the last responsible for the house and the reason for its fall.", Daemon guaranteed.

Then, he turned to the man beside Genna.

"I heard that you wanted revenge against your family, Frey. I will give you a chance to take revenge on your despicable family, since you are right here in front of me." Jon said and turned to one of his men. "Throw a weapon to him." He said.

The man nodded quickly, picking up the sword as it fell in front of his knees, and everyone watched without being able to breathe.

"Pick up the sword and come to me. Prove that your words were not empty. I accept your challenge", Jon declared.

The man could not even lift his head. Genna looked at him with rage, clearly seeing the coward her husband was, since she was being humiliated just as much as he was.

"How boring." Daemon sounded disappointed and laughed briefly. In the next instant, he lifted the man by the neck with one hand, with everyone around making sounds of gasps and fearful groans.

Jon did not wait and his fingers closed, and the dry sound of the neck breaking echoed through the courtyard. The body fell inert to the ground, dead before everyone.

A chill ran through the crowd.

Daemon looked at the body for a moment and then turned his gaze to the couple's children.

"Your father challenged me, but in the end proved himself a coward. If you wish to do what he did not, you may take that sword and try something. I will not use magic in the fight. It will be purely hand-to-hand combat", he declared.

None of Genna's children managed to move. "Spare them..." Genna moaned in fear; her husband was one thing, but her children?

"Very well. I will send them to the Wall. Your mother will go to the Silent Sisters, along with Kevan's wife and daughter, and they will remain there for the rest of their lives. I am giving you a fate better than death. But if you prefer the other path, I will not hold back", Daemon spoke openly.

No Lannister had the courage to go against his words.

"Excellent. Let's begin organizing things in the castle. I want to leave at least five thousand men here", Jon said, pointing to a man of the North who was among the group that had arrived by the port. "Lord Glover, you will stay here and take care of the castle with your men until we return from the conquest of King's Landing."

"It will be an honor, Your Majesty.", the man replied, nodding.

"Excellent. Lord Tallhart, Tormund, and Val, you will continue onward, leading your groups. Now we will rest a bit before we begin moving again in three days."

"Place all prisoners in the camp outside the castle. Men and women of Lannister blood as well, but separated, along with Dorna and her daughter. Keep them all there. I do not trust the dungeons of an enemy castle."

"Slay any group of any lord from the Westerlands that approaches, and always keep scouts at least two or three kilometers toward Lannisport and Casterly Rock."

Jon began issuing orders, and the men immediately started to move.

"Lord Glover, it would be best for you to start adapting to the castle. Let's go", Daemon said, before looking at Val and asking her to accompany him, while the maester led them to the chambers.

Daemon took advantage of the following days in Casterly Rock. Everything seemed calm, the coffers were still empty since Daemon had stolen the gold.

Everything went well until the second day, but there was an incident.

A simple event: Daemon was dining with his men, stirring the hall of Casterly Rock, and everyone was in high spirits. Mormont had made friends with the northerners since leaving the North, and he and Lord Tallhart were laughing and talking.

Daemon went to join them, but when he went to drink, he stopped. His instincts had sharpened greatly since the beginning of his journey, and he would easily recognize poison, after all, many had already tried to use that weapon.

When Daemon announced it, the castle quickly fell still, seizing all the servants, and it was easy to tell that it was the maester who had tried to poison him. Instead of killing him immediately with an execution, Daemon simply took the drink and handed it to the maester himself, forcing him to drink while he choked on the poison, which was not even slightly weak to try to bring down someone of Daemon's caliber...

The elderly man died before everyone in the main hall of Casterly Rock, agonizing.

"So that's the best you can do?" Mocking, Daemon made it clear that it would take much more than that to kill him, as if he had not cared in the slightest about the assassination attempt. To his men's eyes, he seemed like some kind of demigod, someone who did not care about assassination attempts.

Tormund declared him as such.

It was soon discovered that Genna, in a desperate act, had attempted it. As a result, Daemon placed her and all her children upon the platform in the castle courtyard.

"Let this serve as a lesson."

The woman cried, trying to deny that she had any involvement with the assassination attempt and begging to spare her children, but the servant who had acted as an intermediary for secret messages between Genna, in Daemon's camp, and the maester confessed everything before everyone, under the threat of something worse than death.

That servant and the one from the kitchen who had placed the poison were hanged.

"Well, Genna, perhaps in another world you would not have been so foolish. Perhaps you would not have had the misfortune of having a brother like Tywin." Daemon simply moved Dark Sister. He raised the sword and cut Genna's neck as if it were nothing.

After that, he killed each one of her children. Kevan's wife shrank back in fear, watching the death of her sister-in-law as if paralyzed.

Daemon would spare no one. No one with the name Lannister.

Another day passed after that and, finally, the troops began to prepare to depart. Daemon took a wooden box and tied it onto Winter, as he prepared to fly.

Then, he turned to the side and Val was behind him, holding on to him to have something to grip during the flight.

Val would also be flying with him. In the end, she insisted on going with him, while Tormund could command the army. Jon nodded and gave instructions to his dragon to allow the woman to climb onto his back once more.

They headed east, flying for hours. They passed over Harrenhal and saw an army stationed with Lord Stark and Mance Rayder. To the north, there was also another army in the distance, but Jon did not stop for either of them and went directly to King's Landing.

"Why are we going there?", Val asked, not understanding the reason.

Daemon merely opened a smile. "After an attack on Casterly Rock, there is no reason not to announce it in grand style", Daemon said, taking the box he had placed on Winter, and advanced toward the Red Keep.

A roar echoed through the sky of King's Landing, making people scream and run in panic below. Daemon got close enough, flying near the towers of the Red Keep, amid the screams coming from the windows and the walls.

He threw the box into the courtyard. Immediately afterward, Winter roared again and began to gain altitude, moving away from King's Landing.

The box had fallen hard into the courtyard, cracking the ground, but without completely breaking apart.

The dragon was already out of sight by then, but the terror continued in the city. People sought shelter, wondering if the creature would return at any moment.

For the first time, they were seeing a dragon with their own eyes, something that many had only heard about. The city trembled at the knowledge that the man who was coming to claim them had such a creature, but Daemon did not plan to launch a dragon attack. It would be too easy. Instead, he headed for Harrenhal.

The courtyard of the Red Keep was already in chaos. Archers trembled atop the castle walls, searching for any sign of that white creature in the sky again.

"A dragon… there really was a dragon", was what everyone was saying.

Lord Tywin emerged with firm steps into the courtyard, while Tyrion was at his side, quite cautious. Neither of them seemed to have slept in the last few days. They had heard about the West, about the fall of the Golden Tooth, about House Lefford surrendering and kneeling to Daemon Targaryen, and the soldiers of the Westerlands stationed in the city were restless.

Tyrion could see how bad their situation was... They had no allies. The Boltons were worth very little, they did not have the North, nor could they ever have it. House Stark was still almost entirely intact. The only hostage they had was Sansa, and she had escaped, and no one knew anything about her.

"My lord, some servants at the window said they saw the man atop the dragon throw a box from the dragon as he passed over the courtyard." said a man, a Lannister soldier, nervously.

Kevan came right after: "Brother, why was that dragon here? Should we prepare ourselves?", he said nervously. He already had a bad feeling about the family's situation in the realm. He knew that if the dragon was there, the sky over King's Landing was no longer safe for anyone.

"We will deal with the dragon. Begin constructing scorpions, as we had already planned", Tywin said, walking toward the box.

No one dared to touch it while it remained there, broken and lying on the courtyard ground.

"Open it", Tywin gave the order.

The soldier nodded, approached, and removed the seal. There was no lock, only bindings firm enough to keep the lid from opening on its own. He lifted the lid and, in the next instant, let it fall, stepping back in shock.

"There is a head…", he said.

Everyone frowned and moved closer. There was not just one head, but several stacked together. Even so, the one at the front stood out easily.

"No…" Kevan whispered, barely believing it.

Tyrion went into shock. Tywin maintained an indifferent posture for a moment, but soon his eyes narrowed, gleaming with intense fury.

Genna's head rested atop the decapitated heads of her children, which meant that Casterly Rock had fallen and that the monster who claimed he would destroy House Lannister had begun to make his move.

Kevan, upon approaching the box, fell to his knees and began to cry. He moved his hands and touched the decapitated head of his sister.

"How could they do this? They must have my wife… my daughter…", Kevan trembled.

Tyrion had tears streaming from his eyes as he remained beside his uncle, joining him in front of the box. Tyrion's gaze then turned to his father. The old lion stared at the heads with a hardened face, but Tyrion noticed something that made him boil inside.

"Are you happy, my dear father? Are you satisfied that this is the result of your obsession with the Lannister name?", Tyrion said, glaring at him with rage. "We have no allies. Everyone hates us. And now we have a monster who wants to kill all of us without mercy. Was this the Lannister rise you wanted?", he finished, openly furious.

The people around them turned their gazes, horrified. Tywin said nothing. He did not respond. He did not even look at his dwarf son.

Tyrion simply began to walk away, passing by his father without saying anything else. At any other time, Tywin would have ordered Tyrion's head cut off for speaking to him that way in public. But not now.

Tyrion walked off, going to drink to drown his sorrows; his family was dying. As he walked, he passed by his brother and sister, who were still arriving without knowing anything. Joffrey came right after, with heavy and irritated steps, but Tyrion did not even care when the king questioned him.

He did not care about anything anymore.

His family was sworn to die at the hands of someone far more dangerous than his father.
