Chapter 180 - Chapter 180 - If You Do Not Kneel, You Will Be My Enemy.

[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]

Third Person POV.

North.

...

...

Stannis approached carefully, along with the most trustworthy people—or at least those he used to trust. The red priestess was one of them, Ser Davos was another, and Ser Axell Florent also accompanied them as they rode after hearing the summons of Daemon Targaryen.

The dragon was still at a distance, a danger to all, and yet, Stannis Baratheon went to Daemon. There was no way to refuse the request for a meeting; if he did, everyone in his army would see him as a coward. For that reason, he did not think twice about appearing after being summoned.

And as he drew closer, they began to slow down, analyzing the man who had killed his brother Robert Baratheon and caused all that chaos in King's Landing, in other places of the south, and now in the north.

Stannis did not fail to notice Daemon's arrogant and calm gaze, as if those more than twenty thousand men were nothing before him, as if he was easily controlling the situation and could decide to do anything.

It was frustrating. Even so, he approached, stopping about five meters away, still staring at him.

Daemon not only had an analytical gaze fixed on Stannis, but also on the other three people who followed him. Two he did not know, as with Stannis, he only knew it was him because he had the bearing of a leader and the appearance of a Baratheon, unlike the red priestess who had tried to seize one of the prisoners back in the Crownlands. He did not know what had happened to Yoren after that, since he had not seen him since. Together with his group, he hoped he was still alive somehow, but he had not yet reached the Night's Watch. At least, there had been no sign of him.

"So you are Stannis Baratheon. You look like your brother, but you are much more sullen than he or Renly Baratheon." Daemon spoke calmly, his gaze returning to the man.

Stannis stared at him for a few seconds. "You are speaking of Renly? The man about whom you spread lies, you sword-swallowing degenerate?" Stannis replied, not stopping, only making a pause. "And about Robert... the man you killed after torturing him."

"Well, you know I am not lying. Even you believed what I said. After all, you also denounced Cersei's three children: royal bastards passing themselves off as Robert's trueborn sons. Otherwise, you would not be here, intending to seize the throne for yourself. But it seems you failed." Daemon spoke in a calm tone.

"Besides, I only told your brother the truth. After being cornered in that forest, I simply gave him a weapon and told him I was the son of the woman he claimed to love, even though she had been dead for so long. He did not take it very well, so we fought one on one. His mastery was a little more graceful, but you should not be surprised that he lost to me. Everyone loses." Daemon concluded, sensing Stannis's anger.

"You killed a king." He mocked.

"Not technically. After all, the one who finished him was his own wife, I only put him in a grave state." Daemon replied. "Not that it makes much difference." Even so, he admitted it.

"In any case, since you surrounded an important city of the North after invading this realm, having failed at Blackwater... where you also failed to conquer King's Landing, you are now in an even worse situation, without even ships." Daemon said, watching the man's scowl deepen.

The two men also had stern expressions as they frowned after hearing that. The woman, however, stared at him intently, as if she wanted to see through him, perhaps remembering the previous encounter and the fear Daemon had caused her.

Now, however, she seemed a little more confident in her voice. "The Lord of Light has chosen King Stannis as His champion, it will not be you. This beast that follows you will belong to him. Prophecies will also be on Stannis's side. You only need to fall, and that is what will happen..." she said, while Daemon stared at her, breaking into an amused smile at all those words.

"Oh, that sounds interesting. Tell me: I have more than one hundred and twenty thousand men concentrating in Winterfell now. All the free folk are loyal to me. The entire North, with the exception of the Manderlys and a few other nobles, thanks to you, is also gathered in Winterfell."

"I have already made most of the houses bend the knee, and I will make them fight alongside the free folk in the south... In other words, I have a dragon and a number that is many times the size of your host... Where exactly do you believe you will win this battle? You already know what I am capable of, even without any of this. Your men are on lands where they are not accustomed to fight..." Daemon mocked, wanting to hear what their argument would be against all his strength. He even omitted the fact that he controlled the dragon directly, since he did not want to frighten even more the people before him.

"As I said, the dragon will serve the Lord of Light. Your armies will kneel before Stannis, whether the people beyond the Wall or the North itself. But you can kneel and follow the true king, the hero of R'hllor, the one who will lead humanity against the Long Night." The woman in red insisted in an inspiring tone, to the point that even strangers looked at her in disbelief.

Daemon made a grimace, and the other two men seemed to turn pale just by the look they exchanged, as if asking whether that woman lived in a parallel world.

"You speak with a firm tone, but I hear the lack of confidence in your voice. Not even you believe in the nonsense you say." Jon told her before turning his head back to Stannis. "Tell me, Stannis, do you bring a drunken woman here for us to talk?" Daemon mocked, as if it were an insult.

"I follow her words, they are hard to ignore when they are my clarity before the path I must take." Stannis replied, and Jon could also notice the doubts in his voice, but he did not seem willing to contradict her.

"Nevertheless, I must say that I believe I will not lose this battle." he finished, drawing his sword before quickly rubbing oil on it and setting it aflame. Then, he raised it high before pointing it toward Daemon.

"We do not have your dragons, but the Lord of Light is with me!" he said harshly.

Daemon had to admit that this performance was effective, making his men in the camp roar, completely raising their morale. The woman looked proud, but Daemon could not help but begin to laugh, before bursting into loud laughter, his head tilted toward the sky.

"HAHAHAHAHA!" Everyone fell silent upon seeing him laugh so freely.

"Man, that trick with oil and fire was hilarious... That flaming sword was a fine show, I must admit. But I don't see any weapon of a god, or whatever. All I can see is a trick with oil and flames. Are there really people who fall for this? Please, if you think that's amazing, I can do things here that would make you rethink what magic really is... and you know it. Now, what is a flaming sword going to do against me?" Daemon mocked, somewhere between amusement and scorn.

"Do not mock! That sword is Azor Ahai's!" the red priestess said.

Daemon did not reply immediately. Instead, he raised his hand and a sword began to materialize. It was made of golden metal, which burst into light from the hilt, far more magical than Stannis's flaming blade. Runic symbols glowed along the length of the blade, and even the soldiers gaped, for the sword looked like a miniature sun in Daemon's hands.

"See, this is a sword that a god gave me. And, if you want to know more specifically, it was a goddess. It looks much better than that cheap copy you are flaunting." Daemon said, keeping the sword raised. Even the men in the camp, once euphoric, stopped, overcome by the radiance coming from his hand.

Stannis no longer looked as confident as before.

Daemon tilted his head and unleashed a Thu'um right there. "Strun Bah Qo!" The roar came like a thunderclap without warning, with energy shooting from Daemon into the sky.

The space above them, once clear, quickly darkened as clouds began to form. Heavy drops fell, the wind roared, and lightning split the air, frightening everyone. Even the red priestess could not believe what she was seeing.

"If you wanted to see what true magic is... then I will shake your world." Daemon declared.

The storm swept over the entire region, reaching even the city, where people ran from the walls after appearing there to watch. Screams echoed from all sides: the dragon stood there calmly, but now the sky also closed in out of nowhere.

Daemon let the rain fall on him, while Ser Davos, ____, the red priestess and even Stannis watched him with fear — a fear they had never imagined feeling before coming to the meeting.

In the midst of the darkness, Daemon kept his sword resplendent, while Stannis's flaming blade began to gutter, unable to withstand the storm and the force of wind and rain.

Daemon's sword, however, continued to shine intensely.

He raised the blade and, suddenly, the radiance exploded into a light so strong that everyone averted their eyes; even the horses were frightened, neighing in panic, before the glare returned to normal. Then Daemon lowered the sword, letting it fade away slowly.

"Lord Stannis, as you can see, I am not an ordinary man, someone you can simply face. Look at your men, all terrified. Perhaps they are dreaming that I am a god, or something close to it. Even your priestess seems to be rethinking all her convictions." Daemon mocked, pointing and staring at the soldiers frozen before him.

"I know you wish to take my food in that city's storehouse, but I will give you a warning: if you try to storm that city, I will come after you the moment it happens. I will hunt you mercilessly."

"In any case, I am organizing the North and will interfere here now. I do not want you approaching Winterfell, and also, even less, I do not want to see you taking White Harbor. If you want a solution, surrender and come with me to the South. I will make you the lord of Storm's End and the whole realm will be yours and your daughter's. I heard she has a scar on her face — I can even do something about it; I can turn her into a boy without any problem, she will grow up without the disfigured face and will have a good man by her side, I guarantee it." Daemon said, beginning to walk away.

"Before that, I have a condition, I want you to cut this woman's head off. She is not trustworthy, full of poisonous words; I do not want to see her before me again. If she appears, I will do it myself. But I give you a chance..." Jon paused, before saying his final words. "If the next time we meet you do not kneel, you will be my enemy, and I will set my army and my dragon against you. And believe me: I will do much more than a small storm in the sky." Daemon said, turning on his heel and returning to Winter.

He lifted his head and unleashed another Thu'um. "Lok Vah Koor!" Energy burst forth, exploding toward the sky before the storm began to calm.

The damage was already done: the men in the camp were frightened and looked at Daemon as if he were some kind of god. Davos was equally frightened; no one could do what Daemon had just done, but they knew that everyone who had seen it was destined to kneel before that man. No one could stand against him.

As the weather began to clear completely again, as if nothing had happened, Daemon was already atop his dragon with his dragon beginning to fly, beating her wings toward the sky, leaving the place.

Strangely, however, she flew straight over the camp, frightening everyone instead of heading north, but she did no more than pass over them.

The dragon headed for White Harbor.

The men on the walls remained terrified at the sight. Daemon quickly saw the city expand before him as he looked over the wall and chose a place to land.

There were two people there he wanted to speak with: the representatives of the Iron Bank and Lord Stark.

It was time to deal with them.
