Her smile almost seemed psychotic. She smiled more at the students but no one else could tell. Could it be that no one else could feel her aura or even see through her carefree smile and into her true dark feelings?
"My name is Tanaka Eriko, you may call me Ms. Tanaka."
Tanaka Eriko? That name only seems normal but through my research, there didn't seem to be a Tanaka Eriko until this year. She was a new teacher and trying to get along with the students seemed to be a natural thing for new teachers to do however, my thought about Tanaka-sensei didn't seem to get any less positive.
All I had to do was try to find anything about Tanaka-sensei but it wouldn't be as easy. If Tanaka Eriko truly is what I think she is then she would most definitely hide her true identity and go under a pseudonym.
The class went on as usual but I observed Tanaka-sensei as I looked out of the window. It would only look as if I'm not paying attention to the class anyone else but I am studying Tanaka-sensei. Her thought pattern, her personality, and her body language.
Using her body language I can find out her personality which then allows me to find out her thought pattern. How her personality is towards the students and how her true self is can only be found out by intensely observing Tanaka-sensei's body language such as how she walks and how she talks and where her eyes are when she talks and where her hands are when she talks.
These things are key to understanding anyone. It only seemed that Tanaka-sensei knew about this and was cautious however she did blunder. Her eyes seemed to wander in my direction a couple of times but she quickly noticed and fixed her behavior she noticed so quickly that to the normal students, it was something they did think about.
"If she was from them then that would explain why her eyes wander in my direction but it wouldn't explain why she would do it. If she knew of my observational abilities then she wouldn't let her guard down." I thought.
I then realised why.
"Tanaka-sensei is testing my abilities."
Something so obvious only reached my mind now. I kept the act of looking outside of the window, completely oblivious to what went around me.
"To test your mathematical ability we will have a pop quiz." Tanaka-sensei announced.
I whipped my head around to look at Tanaka-sensei to hear the unsatisfied moans of students but no one argued as this was after all Class 1-A, considered to be the class of the most exceptionally intellectual students amongst the first-years.
A small booklet was handed to everyone and after everyone received their booklet, Tanaka-sensei gave the sign for everyone to start.
If it was a normal teacher I wouldn't have to worry as much but I wouldn't let my guard down, in this case, I had to be extra cautious and a pop quiz would be unexpected so a mark such as 94 should suffice.
I turned through the pages of the booklet and analysed the question levels. The level of the questions seemed to be above average and not even on the borderline of above average but in the higher tiers of above average.
It could be that Tanaka-sensei is testing me and she is focusing on me while also giving reasonable questions to the other students of Class 1-A.
She could also be testing Yamada and Shimoda's levels to see their level of intelligence. Although their IQ test results were public on the internet they are around two years old. Since then their IQ most likely increased or Tanaka-sensei is testing the other types of intelligence.
The average IQ tests of this day and age tests general intelligence, mathematical intelligence, spatial intelligence, verbal intelligence, and interpersonal intelligence. IQ tests measure these five categories however there are more. There are other types of intelligence.
I filled out the test paper slowly and with ease. I could've easily finished the paper the moment it met my desk but that is beyond average.
I looked around to see other students scratching their heads in confusion. Yamada and Shimoda didn't seem to be affected by the level of the test but their friends did.
Shimoda had only one friend with who she had been friends since the beginning. Nakamoto Ryoko has worked for the Shimoda family for centuries and it seems that Ryoko had been assigned to Shimoda Tomiko as they were the same age. At the age of three Ryoko and Tomiko met for the first time. Ryoko isolated herself from people so her parents introduced her to Ryoko. Instantly they became friends and thirteen years later, they still are friends. Ryoko is more extroverted while Tomiko is extremely introverted. Tomiko also isolates herself from other people because she had been kidnapped on six separate occasions.
Yamada Yoshio is extroverted and makes friends easily however he is seen to be serious most of the time thus resulting in his lack of friends. His best friend, Takemoto Yuudai, has been with Yamada since middle school so they are very close.
It's almost unnatural how much Tomiko and Yoshio have in common.
Only thirty minutes passed and Tanaka-sensei announced that the pop quiz was over. The students watched Tanaka-sensei collect the papers with a smile on her face.
The test was only two pages but the question needed at least a minute each to work out. Only thirty questions could be answered in that time. There was a total of a hundred questions and only thirty could be answered in the time given. Only a handful completed forty-five and over and Yamada and Shimoda only completed eighty.
I was aware of Tanaka-sensei's plan and I only completed eighty-four out of a hundred and I made sure to get one wrong. Eighty-three was a score anyone would want. Some may kill just to get my score so that seemed to be a reasonable score given my academic ability.
Tanaka-sensei then piled up the papers in the corner of her desk. She then took the papers and placed them on a metal plate that was under the table. The papers then came piled up back onto the table in an instant. Tanaka-sensei then gave us back our papers and to our surprise, they were already marked. A machine had marked our papers in front of us in less than ten seconds.
Technology has advanced more in the last two decades than it has since the start of humanity. Yamada Takeo is responsible for 38% of all inventions made by humans.
I looked at the score which was in red with a red circle around it. The score was 93-exactly as I planned-however there was something at the bottom of the page. A code of some sort but not any normal code. It wasn't something even high-tier spies would recognise. It wasn't Morse code or pigpen or anything that existed. It seemed as if someone had just made the cipher.
Fortunately, I could decipher it. It was a mix of different ciphers but in opposite forms and coded into binary then put in a 3x3 form to create an image. The images then created letters: It was simple if you understood it. To notice something such as this wasn't hard as long as you knew what to do. Even the lesser Aplicharies could find it.
This meant something crucial. This "teacher" knew something that even the most powerful governments wouldn't know.
"So that's what it is." I said to myself after I finished deciphering the code.
Tanaka-sensei didn't teach us anything in this lesson. She only talked to us after the pop quiz then the lesson ended. After the lesson was what many students were looking forward to.
Martial Arts.
Without martial arts, humans wouldn't be as strong as they are. Even the most strongest human wouldn't be able to win in a fight against a martial artist.
To anyone who knew me in the school would know of my lack of athletic ability so I wouldn't have to unnecessarily use my energy. I would have to look as if I am struggling so badly I would die if I tried lifting a pencil but acting isn't hard to do.
As we walked towards the building where we were going to learn martial arts, Akito stopped at a park. Harumi and I couldn't leave him for multiple reasons so we followed him.
"Akito, we're going to be late." Harumi said to Akito. Harumi was clearly also interested martial arts and Akito going to the park would make us miss some part of the martial arts lesson.
"Tadashi, let's have a race." Akito suggested as he put his bag in the floor.
"So you could destroy me?"
Akito was suspicious. He could tell that I was lying but how? I didn't let my guard down once. Perhaps he was acting on instinct bit this wasn't going to be enough to expose me.
"How about you and Harumi have a race?" I suggested.
Moving the attention from me to Harumi was a good move but a risky one. If I failed it would backfire.
"What? Harumi? I can't race her."
"Huh? Why?" Harumi said but it was clear in her voice that she was angry.
"Well…you're a girl…"
"WHAT! I'll race you and this girl will beat you!" Harumi said as she threw her bag I'm the floor.
"Fine then. Tadashi, you do the countdown."
"One lap around the park." I said.
The park did have a pathway which circled around the park; perfect for a race.
Akito and Harumi got into their positions and analysed the pathway.
"3…2…1…GO!" I shouted.
Not a minute was wasted. Akito and Harumi bolted past me and where already a quarter into the race. The pathway was at least 2km, yet they were already almost done. From where I stood, Akito was winning with Harumi only a few inches behind.
After a minute, Akito and Harumi then returned. Akito won but it was still a close race. Akito could easily finish 100m in less than 3 seconds. In this day and age, his speed would be above average but not on the gifted level. Yamada and Shimoda could complete 100m in a second making them at around three times faster than both Akito and Harumi.
"You guys are fast." I said, praising both Harumi and Akito.
"You need to get faster." Harumi said, mocking me as she panted.
Considering that both of them have passed the 50mp/h mark, I allowed them to mock my lack of athletic ability.
"Let's go then." Akito said as he picked up his bag.
Harumi also picked up her bag and we then left the park.
We walked towards the building. All of the first-years were at the building already. The building wasn't like the others. It was wide unlike the buildings that were tall.
We entered the building and found everyone lining up. There were two lines, one for boys and one for girls. There were multiple teachers supervising the students and guiding students.
After everyone had settled in the lines, we all then were put into a room. The room was large with multiple lockers with different plaques on them. The plaques had the student's name and room number on them.
Akito and I had to go to our own separate ways as our lockers were not close to each other. I felt the anxiety kick in as multiple students watched me walk towards my locker. It wasn't that I was scared but being watched wasn't a pleasant feeling to me.
I then realised. If I took my shirt off everyone would see my body. They would see that I was indeed athletic. My secret wouldn't even last a day because of this so I kept cautious.
"Oi!"
