Gulban was beside himself.
He sat on the side of a great tree trunk as he drank until he could no longer count his own fingers.
"Oh, lass... this was never supposed to happen to you, or me, or... any of us." He slurred. "World's gotten too damn chaotic lately, and I... I don't think I even know which way is up anymore."
Gulban brought the bottle to his lips once again, only to realize that it was empty.
He chucked the bottle over his shoulder and reached for another in the case he'd brought.
"Look at this...I thought life without my powers was bad. That it was hollowing. But now that I've lost you, I truly feel as if I have nothing left... How do mortals do this?
Simply let friends go and pick up and move on as if no tragedy had occurred..? I'm not strong enough for that, lass. I'm not strong enough for this.
I know if you were around, you'd call me a big pussy and tell me to pull my knickers out of my arse and be a man.
