I’d slept for a refreshing few hours before Mom came back with Emilia. Their walk ended shortly due to her fussiness, and I was all too happy to wake up to her cuddling up on my chest, with Mom already making lunch for all of us.
She had shooed out the cooks, telling them that her special ingredients couldn’t be seen as she made my favorite dishes. I was pretty sure that her special ingredient that she called, ‘Love,’ was actually just a placebo she used to make me eat vegetables as a kid.
But I wouldn’t tell her that.
It wasn’t long after I fed Emilia lunch that the front door opened up and faster than I had seen him run in a long time, Elio came dashing toward me with a huge grin. I barely had time to prepare myself as he tackled me onto the couch, pressing me down.
