Chapter 160 – I am the Uchiha clan
.
Down on Earth, at the gate of Konoha, the current fight between the Hokage and the Ryu Shinsen can be witnessed as a change in color of the moon to a purple taint, due to the thunderstorm and ephemeral atmosphere created by Naruto and Yamitsuki's colliding energies.
Izuna Uchiha, who agreed to step away from his fight with Taiyoshiki Otsutsuki, is looking over the ninjas of Konoha preparing an offensive against Naobi Otsutsuki. Distracted by the color of the moon, he wonders about the safety of his teammate Boruto, and the chances of his sensei in this battle.
He then looks around to the cliff above the Hokage monument, and further deep in the forest, where his two parents are going solo against celestials. As much as he trusts his father's power, he's still a bit unsure about that red dome trapping him, which is probably a jutsu of the enemy. But Izuna is more worried about his mother.
It is the first time she has to fight an Otsutsuki-level opponent on her own. She can't hold back if she wants to make it out alive. And she sure is aware of that, as shown by the powerful aura of her unleashed Sengo.

Over there, Sakura has opened her seal and is fully using the Shinsen chakra it contains. She knows by experience since her encounter with Kinshiki that her full strength and speed with the Byakugo, which is what her base form equals to now, cannot compete with the likes of this opponent. With the power earned from the Shiva O'Seishin, she could rival even Naruto. And right now, against the swift violent attacks of Fureya, it is necessary.
This celestial woman, known as the amber princess, is levitating slightly above the ground and creating massive amber crystals that she throws one after the other to the kunoichi. She's already shaved off all the trees around them and each crystal fluttering through the forest makes it worse.
Fortunately, confidently using her strength, Sakura is punching down and shattering most of these projectiles instead of dodging. Of course, Fureya has noticed how pointless the use of these projectiles is at this rate. But she keeps going, fascinated by the tremendous strength of her adversary and willing to test its limits.
She keeps augmenting the frequency of her attack until Sakura can't simply punch all the crystals down. Instead, the kunoichi tries to catch one of them and successfully smashes it into two others. She then leaps forward and stops a larger crystal with her bare hand. By pushing it front, she sends it back to the sender, who immediately takes cover.
Omamori
Once again, an ethereal chakra surface appears before Fureya and the amber crystal shatters at collision, doing no damage to the barrier. Since this defensive move interrupts her offensive, the amber princess hurries to make her next move.
Using Senjutsu, she manipulates all the leftover pieces of shattered amber all around and pulls them all together into Sakura, who's pierced and stabbed countless times by the fast flying sharp crystals. However, these fatal injuries that could even have paralyzed a celestial do not stop the pink haired superwoman.
"Shannaroo!" Sakura yells as she contracts her muscles to brutally push all the blades out of her flesh and skin. Unbothered by the blood overflowing from her many wounds, she prepares to jump toward Fureya who stops her straight before she can take off.
Shoton – Suichoro
All of a sudden, Sakura finds herself completely trapped within an amber crystal, paralyzed even down to cellular level.
"You can't escape this, vile woman. My amber can freeze your body to the point of even preventing decay and aging of the body. As a preservative matter, it is second only to the Ryu Tenno's black ice. You will suffocate within sec…"
Fureya abruptly stops speaking as she notices Sakura's eyes forcing movement even in this crystal prison. Amazed, she silently looks as light blue chakra runs through the kunoichi's Sengo seal and entirely cleans and heals her body, making her look as good as in a fresh morning. When she's completely healed, her mark keeps glowing as chakra fills her whole body and muscles, allowing her to force through and, all of a sudden, blow the prison into pieces to free herself.
Astonished, Fureya stands still and widely opens her Byakugan to closely analyze the energy flowing through her opponent. She obviously recognized this cosmic mix of chakra and the mystic seal it comes from, but she had yet to be convinced that it was actually the Sengo as she knows it or a lesser earthling version.
"How did you obtain this power?" she asks the kunoichi who doesn't answer and instead replies with a different question, focused on her real objective.
"So you're just gonna ignore your superior's command and keep standing in my way even though she ordered all of you to step back?" Sakura asks with a judging tone. "Even that other guy fighting my son stepped back."
"That other guy is my own son, lady. Your sweet face doesn't fit your mischievous behavior. Sasuke Uchiha's arrogance must have tainted your soul." the amber princess says. "To answer your question, I am a princess, bride of a Shinden, and first cousin of the Ryu Shinsen himself. I take no orders from Naobi-sama. I only take orders from Yamitsuki-sama and my Tokubei. So I will not step back. And you will stay here until the fight of our men is over. Based on my simple task to hold you back, and your ardent will to get involved, the most likely outcome of this battle is easy to guess."
Sakura, frustrated by her opponent's nonchalant offense, doesn't answer and decides to use force instead. With a swift talon kick in the ground, she breaks the rock bottom under their feet and lifts its shattered pieces. She then catches two massive soil plates with her hands and throws them to Fureya who stands still and takes cover once again, still levitating.
Omamori
She makes once another spectral yellow barrier that stops the two ground pieces and holds still, as she notices Sakura coming forth with her Byakugan. The kunoichi, who followed her projectiles, gathers her chakra in her fist and comes with a punch 10 times stronger than when she previously hit this protection.
Mankai Okasho (Full Bloom Sakura Impact)
She strikes the barrier with her fist but, just like earlier, does absolutely no damage, not even the slightest crack.
"There is no point in using brute force against this." Fureya explains, safe behind the barrier. "Omamori is the ultimate defense. In all of creation, there is no greater protection."
Sakura, still hoping to get through, leans with her feet against the barrier and jumps in an attempt to pass behind and land a spear kick.
Tsutenkyaku
As she lets her heel fall on her opponent, she notices that the barrier expanded faster than she could move and is now covering this angle as well. So she just sets foot on the barrier, doing no damage again.
"I told you it was pointless. Not even the Yata no Kagami is as impassable as Omamori." the amber goddess keeps bragging. "Not even Yamitsuki-sama could pass through. Only Shiva herself managed to shatter this barrier."
"Yeah?" Sakura asks, a bit confused that Fureya refers to the source of her power as an actual person. "Sounds about right."
"Don't overestimate yourself. You only have a mere fragment of her true power."
Doubting herself, Sakura tries to go with a different approach. She lets herself slide off the ethereal barrier and lands underneath. Of course, Fureya expands Omamori to cover her lower angles as well, but finds that this wasn't the intention of her opponent who instead bites her thumbs and slams them to the ground, ready to use a summoning that only her Sengo allows.
Kuchiyose
Suddenly, the true complete body of Katsuyu appears over the forest. In her true form, the slug queen is over 500 meters long, has a light pink shade to her white color and bright blue streaks over her body. Even with the Sengo, Sakura is only able to summon Katsuyu's full body for a very limited amount of time, so she simply uses it now as an offensive.
By bringing her here now, Sakura lets the slug queen crash down on her enemy as she hides underneath, willing to test if the ultimate defense can withstand this.

Meanwhile, on the head of the 1st Hokage on Konoha's monument, Sasuke is doing his best to resist the vile attacks of Tokubei, but has so far only been forced to realize his obvious inferiority in this context. With only one arm and sword, he can hardly compete with the double scythe of his opponent and his pressuring celestial strength.
As they spare their blades and analyze each other's moves, Sasuke also notices the oddly accurate reading of his movements that the Otsutsuki displays. His counters and manners are really alike to those of a Sharingan user predicting and mirroring his opponent. Yet in his visible right eye, still only a red Rinnegan.
Sasuke knows that this version of the Rinnegan doesn't have this power, as he remembers that Katashiki, 22 years ago, had to switch to Sharingan to do so. This is once another reminder of the mystery that he has to unfold about Tokubei and his abilities. But if he can't hold on, he won't ever get to decipher this.
Motivated by this goal, he waits for the right time to bend down backwards under the scythe and spin, aiming for Tokubei's legs with his sword. The celestial, attentive enough, flips back and stands still in the air, levitating. In the action, Sasuke leaps up to catch up to him but is forced to step back when his sword is repelled by the weapon of Tokubei spinning as a shield.
Standing up there, waiting for the Uchiha to come again, the Otsutsuki makes a disappointed face as he realizes an embarrassing detail.
"Damn you, Sasuke. You can't even fly without Ninjutsu… Actually I don't recall you being able to fly at all! Seems like that one-eyed Rinnegan isn't really as powerful as a pair after all… This is bad news for you in this trial. Indra's Mangekyo Sharingan allowed him to fly. Yet you can't, even with a Rinnegan, which leaves me a heavy strategic advantage."
Right after saying this, Tokubei throws his weapon toward Sasuke who messily parries it with his sword to let the scythe fall aside, hoping to keep his opponent disarmed. However, the Otsutsuki swiftly flies to grab his weapon again, way too fast for the Uchiha to do anything.
Until now, since he can't use Raikiri's stream to boost his speed, Sasuke has been using a Raiton based medical Ninjutsu to fasten his own nervous system and hope to slightly shorten his reaction time. This was just enough to hold up with Tokubei, but he seems much faster in the air than on foot, which leaves Sasuke behind.
After getting his weapon back next to his enemy, the god of winter hammers it down on him, forcing him to block by holding his blade up with all his strength. As he keeps his guard, Sasuke notices that Tokubei's blade slightly sliced through his Kusanagi, due to the lack of jutsu enhancing its durability. Worried about this, and too busy trying to hold back with his only arm, he lets an easy opening for Tokubei to disarm him.
By swinging his double scythe around, he catches Sasuke's sword with his second blade and lifts it up to make the Uchiha let go of his weapon. He then keeps swinging his scythe all the way into his back, tossing the Kusanagi away and off the monument, leaving it to fall in the streets of Konoha. Then, with a simple kick in his chest, he pushes Sasuke back to take a break and look at him.
"I almost feel sorry for you. Without the power you inherited as Indra's avatar, you're just human." he says, again to provoke him. "How pathetic… You were so infuriatingly arrogant earlier, when you said you'll make a truth out of the myth of my defeat. Where did this confidence go now? Do you feel helpless?"
"Tsk!… No, I'll stay true to my words. I'll beat you." Sasuke answers, embarrassed but refusing to show any weakness. "I trust my wife and my son with protecting the village. And… I have to trust Naruto and my student to protect the world. They have little to no doubt that I'll win this fight. So, just for that, I will be deserving of their trust. I won't lose against you, simply because I know I am still needed, and it is far too soon to leave it all to Boruto and Izuna."
Despite all that he just said, the thing that absorbed Tokubei's attention is just the last name mentioned. Izuna. Of course, for Sasuke, it is just the name of his son. But it is also the brother of Madara Uchiha, Indra's previous reincarnation. Why did Sasuke give this name to his son? These two are nothing alike. Izuna is a symbol of the Uchiha's pride. Sasuke's son is the embodiment of an abandoned legacy.
"This is all that you've left behind in shame." Tokubei says, drowned in his own thoughts. "The true spirit of the Uchiha. A clan meant to suffer losses and grief, but only grow stronger from it. A clan that knows no love other than the fuel of their rage. A marginalized bloodline, persecuted for being superior… You have reshaped it into the face of your defeat. You have betrayed your bloodline's fate. As you are today, you even would have slaughtered your own parents as well if you were in Itachi Uchiha's place. With the power and means you were given, you should have sought to resurrect your massacred clan. But instead, after one last battle against Asura, you forfeited all your darkness, all your pride, all your clan's spirit, to one puny woman's love."
Sasuke, by this word, is obviously led to think of Sakura. So he looks at the forest in the distance where he sees Katsuyu's real form, lying where his wife is fighting for him. To him, unlike what Tokubei says, he didn't give up on his clan for Sakura. On the contrary, she helped him find the right path and honor his family, allowing him to take a fresh start.
To reshape his clan just as his mother, brother, Shisui and Kobo intended it. To him, Izuna and Sarada are without a doubt the greatest generation of his clan. So, finding new values to defend in this battle, he stares at Tokubei with determination in his gaze.
"Screw the Uchiha." he says. "All throughout history, they've always just been morons devoured by their pride. Idiots who couldn't embrace the emotions that fuel their powers. Devoting their lives to a blood tainted ninja way and a path of sorrow, only to always come second. From Indra to Madara, this clan has always been pathetic. Now, I am the Uchiha clan. And I decide what it becomes."
As he finishes this bold declaration that he realizes as he speaks, he notices an odd frustration in Tokubei's negative emotions, as if he felt personally hurt by these words. He can also see his spite and hate in his right red eye.
But this detail should not cloud his mind. Right now, he is disarmed in front of the enemy, with a clear disadvantage in mobility, speed and strength. All he needs is to close this gap between Tokubei and him, and make his body work 100% toward this objective. And gladly, he knows one way to fulfill this. A forbidden Taijutsu from which he already took plenty of inspiration before in his life.
He's used this fighting style in the past, but only as training to test his own body, and it will be the first time he puts it to use, now that it comes in handy. So he gathers his chakra through his body accordingly.
Hachimon Tonko – Dai San Seimon Kai
His body starts to breathe chakra and heats up, his veins inflate and his skin turns red. His hair is lifted by the intensity of his bodily release, revealing his two eyes emitting a slight glow. Tokubei stares curiously at this demonstration of Taijutsu expertise that he never saw before: a wonder of the human body.
Shunshin
With what seems like a simple Body Flicker jutsu but remarkably faster than previously, Sasuke suddenly stands above Tokubei in the air and throws his foot down on him. The Otsutsuki still manages to block it with his scythe's handle, but unknowingly falls into Sasuke's trap.
The Uchiha catches on the weapon with his second leg as well and spins around to bring the scythe in his movement, forcing it out of his enemy's hands. He then releases it and lets it fall down into Konoha, Free to fly, Tokubei hurries to go after his weapon to retrieve it before it leaves his sealing dome, but he's suddenly held back by Sasuke who grabs him by the ankle.
Hachimon Tonko – Dai Go Tomon Kai
Sasuke upgrades his body performance further by opening the 5th Gate. He pulls Tokubei by the leg to bring him closer and locks one of his feet under his chin, and the other in his armpit. Held in this position, he then lets himself fall.
Uchiha Renge
With this variant of Rock Lee's Front Lotus mixed with a Falcon Drop, he pushes Tokubei headfirst into the ground, and jumps back only at the last moment, giving some more momentum to the enemy as he crashes.
The Otsutsuki stands up, embarrassed, makes sure that his mask is still well on his face, and looks at Sasuke who waits for an answer. It seems like this transformation unlocks the full potential of his body, and apparently also could enhance the performance of his Dojutsu's sight, but has a negative impact on his body. Up to the 3rd, Sasuke was only boosting his body. But by opening the 5th, he accepts the risk of tearing his muscles and breaking his limbs with every significant effort.
For Sasuke, this only limits him in time. Time to figure out how to break out of this jutsu canceling dome and recover from the injuries. As Tokubei called it, it is a trial. And Sasuke has just decided to make it a gamble.
Tokubei looks aside to where his weapon fell, at the crater in the monument left by his crash, and at his empty hands before focusing on his adversary again.
"Not ready to give up, huh?" he asks, a bit ashamed to have left him a chance to get up. "Me neither." he adds, as he gets in position to go on with his bare hands and eyes, when a fire cloud appearing at the entrance of Konoha gets their attention.
Sasuke and Tokubei both look there, knowing it must be an attack of Konoha's ninjas on Naobi Otsutsuki, which makes the masked man giggle.
"How absurd is that situation, really?" he says, making Sasuke look back at him with squinted eyes. "While you are here fighting me, the other nations are up against Yasona. And honestly, you have it terribly easy compared to those at the gate of this village and the Hokage. He is fighting Yamitsuki-sama in person, so obviously, no matter how confident he is, there is no hope for him. But your son and Konoha don't stand any more chances against Naobi-sama. You've seen her compared to me, Sasuke. You've spent months on the verge of death after she struck you with something as simple for her as hitting the ocean with a shuriken. You, Asura, the Tenshin and I are among the mightiest beings in all universes, but Naobi-sama is on a tier of her own. And Yamitsuki-sama is another level above."
Sasuke already knows all of this, but stays confident. He sure doesn't think that Konoha can defeat Naobi Otsutsuki, so he doesn't really trust that they can get past her. But he knows that she won't threaten their lives and is only here as a barrier. He trusts his son and his friends only to keep her busy while he gets rid of Tokubei and then helps the rest of the Union in Iwa. And about Naruto, he doesn't bother doubting anymore.
The masked celestial can see this trust in Sasuke's gaze, and it infuriates him. But he has to admit that the same uncertainty emanates from Yamitsuki, who told him all of his secret plans for the future, but not for this battle.
"There is someone in this universe. A being of true filth and evil." he explains, to enlighten Sasuke on the stakes of this war for the Otsutsuki. "There is no doubt that he is greatly superior to us. It is someone that Momoshiki Otsutsuki was afraid to approach, not only because of his power, but also his black heart and reckless intentions. Yet this man cannot take action to fulfill his fantasies, because Yamitsuki-sama and Naobi-sama are a barrier he can't cross. If somehow, your friend manages to defeat Yamitsuki-sama, it will become his duty to take his place as the pillar of order. But if both Naobi and Yamitsuki were to die, this universe would stand no chance anymore. All of creation would succumb to the prince of darkness."
This dark monologue makes Sasuke feel oddly uneasy. It is not the first time he hears about the existence of such a person, but he never got as much blurry details about him as now. It makes him doubt his own trust for a moment. Even if Naruto and Boruto manage to win, he knows that there is no way Naruto got even close to Yamitsuki's true power, so he can in no way assure the same balance as him in his place.
But he beats these dark ideas out of his mind, and stays confident. There are only two outcomes to the ongoing battles. Either a total win of the ninja world, or its complete destruction. If Naruto wins, he has to win as well. And so does the Union in Iwa, Konoha and Sakura. Suddenly a question pops in his mind as he tries to think of the true nature of the enemy in this war.
"Whoever this prince of darkness might be, if your clan sees him as the threat you describe, why aren't you hunting him down?" he asks, which startles Tokubei.
"Hah!… It's simple… Deicide is a crime forbidden by the Shinden and punished by the Tenshin." the masked man replies. "Yamitsuki and Naobi, as the symbols of this law, would never break it. And as much as I'd want to do it, I would stand no chance without their help. So, if this world lives to see tomorrow, you must know that he will seek you before you seek him."
This choice of words is obviously made by Tokubei to trouble Sasuke's mind on purpose. But he doesn't let it take over. If another battle is really to come, he will take his time, and gather all the allies he can find.
"Doesn't matter." Sasuke replies, still hiding his emotions. "If Naruto wins, he will not become that pillar alone. I will be here with him. And so will Sakura, Boruto, Takeshi, Izuna and Oshio."
"Oshio?" Tokubei repeats, remembering the one possessed by Momoshiki. "No. That kid is just as good as dead by now. And rather than day dreaming, you should focus on fighting for your own life now."
Triggered by this provocation, Sasuke gets in position and jumps forward to engage Tokubei physically again. While staying immobile during this conversation, he avoided the side effects of the Hachimon, but now in action again, he sets a timer on his life again.

At the gate of the village, Naobi Otsutsuki is resisting the pointless combined attacks of the ranks of Konoha, while the rest of her clan stands back as she ordered. Shikamaru and Kakashi, leading this offensive, stare at the Sarutobi clan led by Konohamaru as they unleash a rain of flames on the celestial who very easily blocks it by simply nullifying all Ninjutsu.
After this first offensive fails, Naobi sees dozens of crowds of deadly insects flying up to her together. This next strike comes from the Aburame clan, sending their various deadly beetles, some of which are poisonous or flesh-eaters, to the goddess who makes a disgusted face and slaps the air with the back of her hand.
"Back off, filthy bugs." she says as all the insects are suddenly slapped out of the way as if she actually hit them physically, before even getting a chance to reach her. But it's immediately followed by a lightning bolt flying through the sky toward her.
Raiton – Raiju Tsuiga
It's a hound of purple electricity, made by the 6th Hokage, that runs through the sky to hit Naobi who just stops it by letting her black scepter float and catch it like a lightning rod. This failed strike however still serves as a distraction creating a messy opening for what remains of Lee's Suicide Corps and Choji's Akimichi clan.
Dozens of giants appear and leap up to reach out and grab her while Taijutsu specialists come in formation to strike together from all directions. But this isn't enough to catch by surprise the wielder of the Sharin-Byakugan. Naobi obviously sees all of them coming and, with minimal movement consisting of just slight shoulder tilts on left and right, easily dodges all the Taijutsu experts and lets them fall away after their misses.
For the giants, she simply strikes them all one after another on the top of their head with her staff like an old school teacher to punish misbehaving students, and deactivates their Baika just like that. The Suicide Corps, having more available members, keep coming to her and try to land any strike. She keeps dodging them all, and just sometimes lands little Juken strikes with the tip of her nails to force some of them to deactivate their Hachimon.
Getting annoyed by how repetitive it feels, Naobi uses her staff to catch the necks of two ninjas in the moon shaped ornament on the two ends of her scepter and swings it around to bash away some others with the bodies of the two trapped ones. When she is done, she lets the two poor ninjas fall and looks at the few remaining ones who come all together.
"You're hitting your own selves." she says, before they all suddenly run into each other and punch themselves down. And as soon as this offensive is stopped, she senses herself being paralyzed. By looking down, she sees her shadow, projected on the ground by the moonlight, being caught in the bind of the Nara clan, led by Shikamaru.
Kage Shibari
All combining their efforts to bind her movements, they suddenly feel it being reversed and they can't move any muscle anymore. Confused by how she could turn it against them, Shikamaru is, like his fellows, forced to raise his arm and hit his own shoulder with a karate chop. The speed and precision put in this strike is far greater than what their bodies should be able to do, and therefore breaks their own arms and shoulders and puts them to sleep.
Flabbergasted, Shikamaru tries to guess how it is possible, but doesn't bother too much and smiles as he loses consciousness, because the true objective of all this diversion finally comes into realization.
Naobi sees spectral talismans appear around her, forming a pyramid of which she is at the peak. At each angle on the ground, she sees Anko Mitarashi, Sai Yamanaka, Moegi Kazamatsuri and Rebekka Tabiki. They're all standing with open scrolls in front of them, displaying the kanji "Fuin" for "Seal". In the middle of the pyramid, a 5th string of talisman appears, linking Naobi to Tenten, who stands next to the Kohaku no Johei, open and ready to imprison her chakra.
Next to Rebekka, Chishiki Otsutsuki looks at the kunoichi standing right by her side. She raises her spear, the Ameno Nuhoko, preparing to threaten or even strike down that woman, but doesn't and holds back her weapon. She was ordered not to intervene, and so she won't. Rebekka, following the process of the sealing jutsu she created with her sensei, quickly smiles at Chishiki, amused to stand so close to a celestial without risking being harmed. She then, together with the others, performs a series of hand seals.
Kekkai Shikakusui Fujin (Pyramid Sealing Barrier)
Naobi's chakra is suddenly pulled out of her body into a phantom pyramid shape appearing between the talismans. Her body starts to evaporate into chakra that spreads to fill the pyramid.
"I see." she says calmly as half of her body fades into energy and begins to be sucked into the Kohaku no Johei at the bottom. "Very impressive and efficient combination. I'm surprised that it actually can handle so much natural energy. That vase must be special." she says about the Rikudo's treasure. "It may have worked on another celestial, but not on me."
Shinsen Kata
For just an instant, she activates her Shinsen transformation and disturbs the binding of the seal so much that it collapses within a second, letting her body come back to shape with all the chakra that wasn't already trapped in the vase. Rebekka and the others all fall on their butts as they see their seal corners go back to their scrolls.
"You still managed to seal a significant amount of my chakra." Naobi says, before crushing their hopes even more. "It could have been a good advantage for you,… If it had been real."
Kami Musubi
After these words, she undoes a Genjutsu and all the performers of the seal see the scroll in front of them disappear, as they were never even brought here. At the gate, Shikamaru and the other Nara clan members are abruptly woken up, standing next to everyone else as they never really fell asleep.
Kakashi looks around confusingly and squints, realizing that not even half of their efforts really happened. Naobi is just effortlessly using their limited perception of reality to her advantage. As most of them feel out of resources and useless already. Izuna looks at the goddess in the sky, then at Sakitsuki who floats behind him and doesn't look surprised at all. He finally looks at Inoue who stares back into his eyes, wondering what he's thinking.
"Well…" Izuna says, as he steps forward on the border of the top of the gate. "Ninjutsu doesn't work. And your brute force and speed isn't enough either. Which means I'm the only one here able to step in."
After these words, he activates his Eien no Mangekyo Sharingan and opens his Sengo seal to let it fuel his body, just like his mother does. The celestials look at each other in confusion, while Naobi squints, recognizing the power of an old acquaintance, for the first time combined with the red eyes of the Uchiha.
