Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Warm Family Bonds 2

The two little girls reconciled, and no one was happier than Jiang Aiguo and Sun Li.

They pulled Nianyang aside to ask about the details of the commotion she caused yesterday, listening with amusement. As it neared noon, they invited Nianyang to stay for lunch.

The Jiang Family was even poorer than the Gu Family. Jiang Aiguo only made fifteen yuan a month, and with just one piece of land at home, the family lived a tight life.

Additionally, they sometimes had to support Nianyang, so the lunch was quite simple, just white cabbage stewed with potatoes and vegetable porridge.

Saying it was vegetable porridge would be more like calling it vegetable broth, as the rice in a bowl was countable.

Luckily, Nianyang had eaten worse than this and didn't find it unbearable.

Instead, Jiang Aiguo, feeling a bit embarrassed, said, "Yangyang, our rice is almost gone. Next time you come, Uncle will make white rice for you."

Nianyang smiled, "It's okay, Uncle, I can eat anything."

Jiang Tian mumbled, "Good thing you're here, or else today we'd only have porridge to drink."

"Here, a bowl of egg custard for each of you to boost nutrition." Sun Li, done with her work, brought out two bowls of egg custard from the kitchen for Nianyang and Jiang Tian.

"Mom, why does Yangyang have more egg custard in her bowl than I do?" Jiang Tian said sourly.

Sun Li laughed, "Because Yangyang is skinnier than you and needs more nutrition."

"Mom, you're biased. Who's your real daughter, anyway?" Jiang Tian pretended to be angry, but she didn't actually mind, having been used to her parents doting on Nianyang since childhood. She just occasionally acted spoiled.

"Isn't it obvious? You're adopted, Yangyang is my real daughter!" Sun Li teased, making Jiang Tian pout like a pufferfish.

Holding the warm egg custard, a surge of warmth filled Nianyang's heart.

In her previous life, she was a legendary figure, but also an orphan. Because of her innate ability to identify various herbs and her photographic memory, she was adopted by the descendants of a Traditional Chinese Medicine Family. She had to incessantly study medical books and learn to treat illnesses, never experiencing the warmth of family.

This life had just begun, and she had already met such caring and considerate family members, even though they weren't originally hers.

But since fate had given her a second chance, and she had occupied the original owner's body, enjoying the Jiang Family's love, she decided to wholeheartedly care for this family with her abilities!

Nianyang divided the egg custard in her bowl, giving half to Jiang Aiguo and Sun Li, "Uncle, Aunt, the autumn harvest is in two months, and you'll soon be busy. You both are the ones who really need the nutrition."

Jiang Aiguo and Sun Li exchanged glances, feeling quite flattered, "Alright, sure."

"Yangyang, let's split ours in half too." Jiang Tian shared half of her egg custard with Nianyang.

Nianyang lowered her head and started eating in small bites, while observing the Jiang family's environment; it was indeed too poor. If she wanted to look after the Jiang Family, she must first help improve their living conditions.

Yet, making changes required capital, and she currently didn't have a single penny.

She realized she needed to figure out a way to earn money, silently planning in her heart.

However, she had to earn money secretly because she also had to deal with the greedy snakes in the Gu Family.

Nianyang didn't want the money she earned to benefit those scumbags, although she could refuse. But morally, it wouldn't sit well. If Wang Ying threw a fit, Nianyang's reputation would be ruined.

Besides, she was still living with the Gu Family. If she had money but didn't help her own family, the folks around would gossip about her.

Therefore, before making the Jiang Family wealthy, Nianyang had to quickly come up with a flawless plan to transfer her household registration from the Gu Family to the Jiang Family.

Luckily, it was summer break, and she still had two months before school started, giving her plenty of time to strategize.

By then, the Gu Family wouldn't dare think of taking advantage of her again.
