Chapter 24 - Books

My eyes widened hearing Lucas's mission. It was really a 'perfect wish' as Nova said.

"Does that mean that he'll keep reviving forever?" I questioned. It would be quite troublesome if he's immortal.

"Yes. There's no way to kill him," answered Nova, "however, he's not unstoppable; you can seal him instead."

"How?"

Nova clapped twice and our surroundings once again changed. The only things that stayed the same was the table, chairs and food. We were now surrounded by bookshelves filled with thousands of books. Nova who was already standing walked over to a close bookshelf and pulled out a purple book.

"You should be able to seal him with the same kind of strings attached to him and a core stronger than his. That Lucas boy isn't that weak, so it might be a little hard to find a more powerful core," said Nova.

"Wait, 'the strings attached to him'? I heard that he can move around because mana is transferred to him using the strings, so doesn't that mean if you stop channelling mana to him, he'll stop moving?" I asked.

"That is true however, there are many human dolls and it's quite bothersome to keep channelling mana to them all the time, so I give them mana through a large hourglass with strings attached to it."

"Where is the hourglass?"

"In the temple the people of Floran built to me however, I have some bad news. There's no way to cut Lucas's supply of mana. Human dolls are an important of Floran, so there are dozens of them with strings attached to the hourglass. There's no way to identify which one is Lucas's and I will certainly not allow you to break the hourglass," replied Nova. "Your only choice is to seal him. You do know how a core is created right?"

"I do but, I don't know if I could kill someone strong enough and take their heart."

"What about that mentor of yours? Wren Arla is it? She's close to you so she won't even think that you'd randomly attack her. You also had an argument with her yesterday did you not? You shouldn't feel bad about killing her if you're still upset from the argument and besides, stopping Lucas would be a good thing right?" Nova put the book in her hand back on the shelf, "if you want to know some of her weaknesses I could give them to you."

"I'd rather avoid killing the ones close to me," I immediately shut down her suggestion. There's no way I'd kill Wren after all the things that she did for me. Even if it was just for a while, she gave me hope and I'd prefer to have a mother figure who I can return to after a battle against Eason.

"Then you'll have to find a strong person from scratch," Nova placed her index finger and thumb on her chin, "how about you go to Thanar? It's a nation for warriors so there's a lot of strong people there. You can request a deathmatch and take their heart after you win. Of course that is if you win."

"I don't want to cause an uproar in Thanar either. I don't think many there would be happy with me taking the life of someone they see as family," I said. There were many types of bonds and relationships that I saw in Thanar. It was a messy place however, that was the exact same reason why people had bonded together; because it was messy and they had to team up to survive. Many created bonds with others and saw each other as brothers and sisters; something me and Eason who grew up together cannot do, but they who were strangers can. I'd rather die then ruin something so special. I'm not the type of person to destroy something because I can't have it.

"Yes but if your opponent agreed to the deathmatch then that means they agree to put their life on the line, to hold responsibility, and consented to both dying and killing in the fight. As long as you don't cheat, no one else can say anything and if someone does pick a fight with you because of it, then fight them and win." Well, she's not wrong, so I guess that would work.

"Alright, here are your eyes," I held the eyes out which Nova took.

"Anything else?"

"There's still a few thing I want to ask. Do you know the location of 'Theodore Kascis'?" I asked.

"I do. He's been moved around a couple of times these past days but right now, he's in a place called 'Lianne' village. I think he's in what seems like a warehouse," said Nova. My eyes widened hearing that. Could there have been another victim in that warehouse that I didn't see? It was pretty dark so maybe I missed his body. "Don't worry, he's still alive. He wasn't there when you saw those three bodies," her assurance calmed me down. I wasn't alerted by the fact that she knows what happened since it probably written down in one of the books here or something.

"Next question, is Theodore Kascis the real descendant of Esper and the true heir to the throne?"

"Yes, he is. According to what I know, the first fake descendent to ascend to the throne was the third king of Kassiel. Theodore's grandmother was a concubine who was pregnant with the crown prince of that time's child, but he died and the child of the queen became the new crown prince. What others didn't know was that the queen cheated on the king and that the child wasn't his, so the new crown prince had no relation to Esper at all. The king then was poisoned by the queen, then the crown prince ascended to the throne and banished Theodore's grandmother who then gave birth to his mother," explained Nova.

"What a complicated story," I commented, "it's quite hard to swallow down."

"Yes but it is completely true! I witnessed it myself! I thought the drama was interesting and decided to watch," exclaimed Nova. I didn't expect her to be like the noble girls every time some kind drama starts. "I could make a message if you need to prove it."

"Yes, please do that."

"Is that all your questions for now?"

"No, one more thing."

"Ask away."

"Do you know how heroes and villains came into existence?" I asked.

"Like the fairy tale roles? They already existed when I was a child and I might not have anything that dates back longer than that, so I can't tell you when fairy tales were-"

"Not as in fairy tale roles. As in people with the roles of heroes and villains," I corrected.

"Oh!" Nova suddenly exclaimed as if she had realised something, "are you friends with that Felix guy with white eyes?" I hate the fact that I know who she's talking about. I absolutely despise that guy.

"I'm not friends with him. We're enemies. Although we have the same name, we have different roles and he even framed me."

"What are you talking about?" Nova furrowed her eyebrows with a confused expression.

"Huh?" I too was confused.

"You two don't have the same name. I called him by the fake name he introduced himself to me with since I thought he didn't give you his real name either, seems like I was right. His real name is 'Floyd Lester'," said Nova. Floyd Lester... then why does he use my name? Even Wren knows him as 'Felix' and not his real name. Is it a coincident that he used a fake name that just so happens to be my name? Or did he use it because he knew I was coming from the prophecy he saw?

"Nova, my name- what's my full name?" I questioned. Maybe he came from earth too. There could be a chance that he knew me on earth, but I don't remember or know him.

"Your full name?" Nova grabbed a white book from the shelf. She opened the book and stared at a page then looked up at me in confusion, "Felix, your last name isn't visible."

"What?" I got up and walked towards Nova, "let me see." Nova handed me the book and there I saw my name written in black ink. My first name 'Felix' was completely fine however, where my last name should've been only had a small line as if ink had ran out when my last name was being written. "Is this normal?" I asked Nova.

"No, not at all," replied Nova. "Perhaps the book the white eyed guy had might have your full name in it."

"He had a book with him when he came here?"

"A black one. It had the words 'The Perfect Fairy Tale' written on the cover. It probably has information about heroes and villains there too," said Nova. "I believe we've kept the others waiting long enough. It's quite late as well so if you have anything else that you want to ask, come find me at the temple tomorrow. I'll have your message ready then too."

"Alright," I put the white book in my hand back onto the empty spot on the shelf.

My surroundings then disappeared and I appeared back in the forest where the others were, while Nova probably stayed back in the library made from her consciousness.

"I'm guessing that the deal went well judging from the fact that you're not dead right?" said Kelan.

"It went very well."

"What about his highness's location? Did you find out where it is?" questioned the girl with blueish black hair.

"I did, but who are you?" I asked.

"Leona Kanril,"she placed her hand on her chest, "his highness the first prince's most loyal subornment."
