"Why run?" Christopher Moore stared coldly at Ruby Mercer, his voice not loud, yet it made Ruby's heart tense up.
"Run? I didn't run. It's just that there's work here, and I was in a hurry to get to work, that's all. You're overthinking it. Why would I need to run from something like this? We're all adults, and it was just an accident, wasn't it?"
Ruby Mercer maintained her composure, speaking nonchalantly.
Christopher's face immediately showed a hint of anger. This woman casually downplayed last night's events. How could his heart be so restless, wanting to teach her a lesson?
Christopher quickly put his thoughts into action. His long legs swiftly moved him in front of Ruby, he bent his broad back and hoisted Ruby onto his shoulder, heading towards the bed.
