The Valkyries fought for Odin, the All-Father. In other words, they were the most loyal believers under his throne. That naturally reminded Gorr the God Butcher of his former self—of how he once worshipped the god Rapu.
Back then, he had been a devout believer, much like a "Valkyrie" of Rapu. Even after suffering endless hardships and the heartbreak of losing his daughter, he never once gave up his faith. And what did he get in return? Cold abandonment by the very god he had revered his entire life.
Gorr was unraveling. He sealed Valkyrie's mouth and asked coldly, "Did you ever pray to the gods? When someone you loved was dying on the battlefield, did you beg them for help? Did you pray because your family was slaughtered?"
Tears welled up in Valkyrie's eyes. She had once fought for Odin in the battle against Hela, the Goddess of Death. Her entire team was wiped out—she was the only survivor. That trauma never truly healed, and now Gorr had ripped it open without mercy.
Watching this, Stephen frowned and cast a glance at the silent Thor. "Odin, Zeus, Rapu—they're all the same," Stephen said. "Taking the deaths of their believers as some sort of entertainment. Disgraceful gods."
Billy agreed wholeheartedly. "Damn right. Those gods? Just a bunch of bastard sons of bitches."
"Shut up! You don't know anything!" Thor roared. "The Valkyries don't die in vain. Death is not their end—they go to Valhalla! That was Odin's promise!"
Stephen shrugged. "Rapu promised the same thing."
"How dare you compare Rapu to Odin—my father! You're insulting the great All-Father!" Thor's face turned red with rage.
Wade, never one to miss a beat, chuckled. "Uh-oh, someone's triggered… Hey, Thor, relax. Just breathe, man. We get it. You're pissed. Totally valid. Now chill."
Realizing his fury was only entertaining everyone, Thor panted and forced himself to calm down. Inwardly, he muttered, It's fine. It's fine. They're just a bunch of idiots. No point arguing with a herd of pigs…
Well, at least Thor was finally learning how to regulate his emotions. That, in itself, was a big step forward.
Back on the screen, after tormenting Valkyrie, Gorr turned his attention to Jane Foster. He was coming off more and more unhinged. No—truthfully, he had already lost it a long time ago.
Under Thor's furious gaze, Gorr gently stroked Jane's cheek. "The hammer gave you strength… but it didn't change your fate. The gods will use you… but they will never save you."
After circling the area, Gorr returned to Thor's side. He spoke of his daughter and his deep conviction that everything he was doing was right—that the world ruled by cruel gods needed to be burned down, no matter the cost.
But his methods were far from noble.
To force Thor into summoning Stormbreaker, Gorr threatened Jane. "What will it be?" he sneered. "The woman you love… or the axe?"
As he repeated his threat, dark tendrils wrapped around Jane's neck, tightening with every word. Pain twisted her features.
Valkyrie couldn't speak, but she locked eyes with Thor, silently pleading: Don't summon the axe. Don't fall into his trap.
But Thor couldn't stand by and watch the woman he loved die. Lightning surged through his veins, his eyes lit up electric blue—and with a deafening boom, Stormbreaker flew into his hand. Thunder exploded outward, tearing the entire encampment to pieces.
The three broke free. But so did Gorr's plan succeed. Now that he had seen Stormbreaker summoned, he wouldn't let them leave.
Gorr plunged the Necrosword into the shadows, and immediately, monsters began to crawl out from every direction. Some were enormous, like walking fortresses. Others were twisted horrors, like demons from hell.
They surrounded Thor, Jane, and Valkyrie. Gorr, with the sword in hand, pointed at Stormbreaker in Thor's grip—demanding he hand it over.
Thor just smirked and made a come and take it gesture. No way he was backing down.
Battle erupted.
Valkyrie and Jane dealt with the beasts first. Both were fierce warriors, and together they had little trouble carving through the horde. Valkyrie even wielded Zeus's lightning bolt, its power devastating.
After clearing the monsters, they rushed to help Thor. Valkyrie seized an opening and drove Zeus's bolt into Gorr's side.
But Gorr's strength was terrifying. He tanked the hit and retaliated, managing to take Valkyrie down with a brutal counter.
Thor rushed to help. Seeing Valkyrie gravely wounded, and Jane faltering, he made the call: retreat.
Unleashing a surge of lightning from Stormbreaker, he knocked Gorr back, scooped up Jane and Valkyrie—and, not forgetting the shattered rock guy Korg—they opened the Bifrost to escape.
But just as they were about to vanish, Gorr emerged from the shadows at Thor's feet and grabbed the axe.
They wrestled for it.
Thor, already resisting the Bifrost's pull, was at a disadvantage. Tugged one way by the portal and the other by Gorr, he lost. Gorr yanked Stormbreaker from his hands.
Now Gorr had both the Necrosword and Stormbreaker—the keys he needed to reach Eternity.
Thor's mission had failed.
Back on Earth, in the quiet town of New Asgard, Valkyrie was unconscious from her wounds.
Jane had reverted from her Mighty Thor form—and the illness returned with a vengeance. Her body was gaunt, her strength failing. She struggled to reach the hammer, only to collapse helplessly, slipping into unconsciousness.
Both were rushed to the hospital.
Valkyrie's condition was serious but stable. Jane's, however, was critical.
Though she had been fearless as the Mighty Thor—granted godlike power by the hammer—she had paid a terrible price. Every transformation drained her mortal life force, pushing her closer to death…
