"Yes, I emerged victorious, but at the cost of my servant," Valtor replied, his voice carrying a note of gratitude and sadness for his servant's sacrifice.
The angels and archangels exchanged knowing glances, their celestial eyes shimmering with a profound understanding. They had witnessed wars among mortal beings before, and now it was time to stop the war for a moment.
"It seems you have one servant left in there. Perhaps we can count her as yours. We consider you the victor of this Holy Grail war, Cardinal Ars Viole, or perhaps we should call you Professor V, as the victim among the casualties of war. We cannot bring them back from their resting place." All the angels returned to Trifas, their buildings restored, their lands flourishing, and their territory back on its feet before being destroyed. This was a true miracle from the angels beyond human knowledge.
"As non-participants, we have already restored your homeland. Cardinal Ars Viole, this is the reward for your victory." From the sky, carried by an angel, came a golden and white Pandora Box full of holiness and divinity. The angels waved at Valtor, and he waved back at them with a giggle.
"For the Greater Grail, as a substitute for one of your servants who accidentally destroyed the Grail, you have two wishes. Speak to us."
"My first wish is to give the two wishes to Jeanne. Then, for the second wish, give two wishes to a person named Laeticia, whom Jeanne possessed." All the angels smiled upon hearing the selfless wish from Valtor, as they knew he did not like wishes from the Grail; they were a burden and hassle to him.
"Your wishes shall be granted. For the persons named Jeanne and Laeticia, step forward." As the angels called her, Jeanne was in a panic mode, as suddenly messengers of the gods called her without notice, and she almost fainted upon hearing her name mentioned and spoken by the angel directly.
"Tell us your wish. We shall grant it." Jeanne was having a mental breakdown; she was not prepared for this event. She literally was not prepared, and due to the sheer pressure from many angelic beings waiting for her, it gave her anxiety that was beyond her wildest dreams. She remembered what Xuanzang said: when a god from her belief suddenly visited her, she would have a panic attack.
She was not even properly wearing her saint's clothes, as she was wearing Laeticia's city girl clothing that exposed so much skin. Laeticia, on the other hand, had already passed out due to her name being said by many angels. It was a blessing, as she was a devout believer in religious piety that surpassed many others.
Valtor watched with a mixture of concern and amusement as Jeanne struggled to compose herself in the presence of the divine beings. He could sense her overwhelming anxiety, amplified by the unexpected summons from the angels.
"Jeanne," he called out softly, stepping closer to her side.
"Breathe. They're not here to harm you." His words seemed to offer some semblance of comfort to Jeanne, who took a deep, shaky breath and nodded in acknowledgment. With Valtor's reassurance, she found the strength to stand a little straighter, though her nerves still pulsed with apprehension.
"Please forgive me," she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper, addressing the celestial beings with a humble tone.
"I am not worthy of such an audience, nor do I possess the clarity of mind to form a wish." The angels regarded her with gentle understanding, their luminous eyes filled with compassion. They could sense the turmoil within her, the weight of her responsibilities and the burdens she carried.
"You need not fear, child," one of the angels spoke, their voice like a soothing melody.
"Take your time. We are here to listen, to guide, and to grant your heart's deepest desire." With those words, a sense of calm settled over Jeanne. She closed her eyes for a moment, centering herself amidst the ethereal presence of the celestial beings. Slowly, her racing thoughts began to quiet, replaced by a sense of clarity and purpose.
"I wish..." she began, her voice steadier now.
"To heal Master's eye and hand..." All the angels shook their heads upon hearing Jeanne's wish.
"You are wasting the wish, child. Ars Viole's eye cannot be healed, as it is a necessary requirement to summon us, while his hand is also the same; it cannot be healed as it is also a necessary requirement to summon our opposite. We sense Lady Laeticia inside of you passed out as we called her name. Cardinal V can call us forth to fulfill her wish. In the meantime, we shall depart, as God summons us. May the light of heaven guide your path, and may you find peace and fulfillment in your journey." With that, the angels and archangels began to fade from view, their celestial forms gradually dissolving into the ether.
Valtor giggled at seeing Jeanne waste her wish that could not be fulfilled and gave her a simple smile.
"You waste your wish, it's okay. First time getting a wish from an actual Angel. Next time, consider what you want in the future when war happens again. I need to report to the Headquarter." Valtor took the Pandora Box like a bag. The box itself was so big and almost reached the floor when Valtor carried it with one hand.
As he walked past Darnic, who had mixed feelings about Valtor's capability, Valtor smirked at him and walked away as many Trifas people praised Valtor and treated him like a messenger of God. But Valtor was not a glory seeker, as he altered their memory using demon magic mind corruption.
The Trifas indeed was visited by angels that restored Trifas, but they never knew who summoned them and how they looked, but one thing was for sure, God's Will is benevolence to others who seek God's Aid.
Jeanne ran to Valtor, following him like a meek maiden following her cleric or pastor. As the news spread, especially in the Holy Church and Mage's Association, like wildfire, but Valtor was already four steps ahead. As he used the God Engine to make him lose the war, he was already discharged and secretly protected by the church as an important person, secluded in the French village of Domrémy. He now lived a normal life in the Apocrypha timeline.
As for Laeticia, she wished something so selfless for Valtor and Jeanne when they reached the French city where she belonged.
"My first wish, please let Jeanne live a happy life with Cardinal Ars Viole in Domrémy, where Jeanne was born. My second wish was... please let Jeanne and Cardinal V live as human." Laeticia's wish was good, and it made Jeanne tear up upon hearing it, but Valtor was doomed.
Now he must live with Jeanne in this village as a human, but his fable said otherwise.
Valtor's Fables
Freedom from Blood Oaths: The user cannot be bound by blood-related obligations such as loyalty or enslavement; such bonds are instantly nullified.
Refusal: The User can refuse anything, regardless of its nature.
Angels were fully aware of it, and they just played along.
"Granted, we resurrect Jeanne as a Common Village girl, so Cardinal V, we took away his ability to summon us and our opposite. We shall bless your happy life with Cardinal V in Domrémy." All the angels were gone. He really liked playing this; he knew this would happen, and he let it flow.
As soon as Laeticia's wish was fulfilled, Jeanne hugged her and treated her like a long-lost sister. She couldn't stop saying thank you over and over, while Laeticia looked at Valtor, who seemed saddened. Laeticia felt she made a mistake, but Laeticia was unaware that Valtor's insidious mind was already using the Anti-Life Formula.
Valtor would claim these two women as his and live a happy life with them. He was going to make this village an orphanage and their love nest. Never before had Valtor used his wicked mind to make others happy; he played the long game.
He just needed Laeticia to finish her college, and she would eventually reach Domrémy to meet them. Valtor knew the future and decided to do so, but now he was curious, was Jeanne aware or not? That was entirely different.
After resupplying and reporting, they went to Domrémy to serve as Pastor and Sister in a small church. Valtor and Jeanne became famous sister and Pastor in Domrémy.
Valtor's manner of speaking, especially when preaching and teaching the ways of the Lord to others, left a memorable impact. His experience spanned being Pope for 50 years in different worlds, and he had even been canonized as one of the saints. With a profound understanding of the foundational teachings and the assistance of Angels who remained completely hidden from everyone's sight, Valtor had become a renowned clergyman and the father figure of an orphanage.
Beyond his religious endeavors, Valtor was also a genius intellect. Many sought his advice, whether it was individuals facing personal dilemmas or students seeking guidance for their future aspirations and academic exams. Valtor effortlessly navigated through challenges ranging from elementary school problems to college-level curriculum, a feat even Jeanne found daunting to match, let alone surpass.
She learned from Valtor not only basic skills but also household management, transforming into a sister figure and spreading the word of the Lord. Despite her initial struggles, she gradually caught up with Valtor, adapting to his pace and absorbing his teachings. In Domrémy, locals often mistook Jeanne for Valtor's wife due to their affectionate interactions. Despite Valtor's busy schedule, he always found time to engage with Jeanne, a fact that many found endearing.
Numerous women, whether maidens, prospective brides, or widows, attempted to win Valtor's affection, but his devotion to Jeanne and her strict rule against others getting too close to him left them unsuccessful. Jeanne herself felt a twinge of jealousy at Valtor's charm, knowledge, and wisdom, finding him irresistibly attractive and desirable.
Valtor was truly a Renaissance man, excelling in a myriad of domains. From effortlessly tackling laborious tasks to showcasing culinary skills that outshone those of any other chef in the village, he became a local legend. His fondness for picnics with the children further solidified his reputation, while his knack for caring for children endeared him to all. People sought his advice on matters ranging from elementary school problems to complex financial decisions, reflecting his vast knowledge and wisdom.
Even individuals considered dubious or malevolent in the community showed him a level of respect, underscoring his integrity and influence. Despite frequent visits from members of the Mage's Association and freelance magi, Valtor remained uninterested in joining another Subspecies Grail War, preferring to focus on his current endeavors.
At night, Valtor and Jeanne would share a meal together, with Jeanne often requesting her favorite dishes. She had developed quite a penchant for Valtor's cooking, sometimes even sneaking snacks into her pockets despite his protests. This mischievous behavior was Jeanne's way of seeking attention amidst Valtor's busy schedule.
Valtor would playfully tease Jeanne about her increasing chubbiness, though in truth, he found her happiness endearing. Meanwhile, Jeanne occasionally caught glimpses of Valtor during his bath, noting the peculiar behavior of his hand wound, which vaporized water upon contact due to the Black Dragon Nail's purification effect.
One evening, while lost in thought about Valtor's capabilities, Jeanne accidentally bumped her head against Valtor's locked door. Grumbling to herself, she decided to investigate, opening the door to reveal a room unlike any other she had seen before. Intrigued, she stepped inside, unaware that Valtor had silently followed her, his presence concealed like a shadow. Unbeknownst to her, Jeanne had lost touch with her servant attributes, her curiosity leading her deeper into Valtor's world.
As she finished inspecting every gadget in the room, including the prototype angel wing modified by machinery, the bike, and some peculiar floating orbs that piqued her curiosity, a finger suddenly poked her neck. Startled, Jeanne jumped out of her skin and spun around to find herself face to face with a mischievous grin. It was Valtor, his eyes twinkling with amusement as he teased her with a playful poke.
"Gotcha!" he exclaimed, unable to contain his laughter at her startled reaction. Jeanne couldn't help but let out a nervous giggle, feeling a rush of relief flood through her as she realized it was only him.
"Since when?"
"Since you were inspecting my computer. This is my room—spacious and luxurious, unlike yours, which is probably cramped and full of clothes lying around on the floor," Valtor remarked. Jeanne blushed furiously, acknowledging her habit of tossing her clothes on the floor. Valtor would often wash and iron her clothes while she slept to ensure her room was clean by morning.
"I'm sorry."
"No, it's okay. I'm used to it. What do you want?"
"I don't know. I never expected to end up here."
"I see. You can sleep in that bed if you want. I've already made it clear that you have access to this room whenever and wherever you want. And..." Valtor took the initiative to pin Jeanne against the wall, catching her off guard. He leaned in close to her ear, sending shivers down her spine.
"What a naughty saint, peeking at someone taking a bath? If you're desperate to see me naked..." Valtor gently bit Jeanne's ear, then licked it, causing her body to shudder with pleasure. The sensation overwhelmed her, her body craving more of his touch.
"All you had to do was ask... Honey," Valtor whispered the endearment, sending Jeanne into a flustered frenzy. Overloaded with sensation, she passed out from the allure of Valtor's actions. Valtor carried her to his cloud-like bed and let her sleep soundly before returning to the church door in casual clothes.
"Welcome, Laeticia," he greeted as Laeticia arrived with her bag.
"V, is Jeanne here?"
"She's sleeping right now. Come on in. You seem like you need rest."
"Yes..." Laeticia admired the beauty of the church, crafted with exquisite craftsmanship. Upon entering the dorm, she noticed there were only five rooms—two occupied and three empty.
"Do you want to sleep in an empty room or an occupied one? Jeanne's room is free as she's currently sleeping in my room."
"Where do you sleep then?"
"I usually sleep on the chair below, although sometimes I forget to sleep. It's a bad habit of mine," Valtor explained, his eyes showing signs of weariness that saddened Laeticia. She understood the challenges of his life as a blind man and more.
"V, can I make a confession?"
"Yes, you can sit down there," Laeticia sits on the prayer chair while Valtor makes her cup of tea.
Laeticia looks at Valtor; his tea-making is impeccable, as if fit for royalty. Once he serves it, Laeticia feels treated like a distant princess from a foreign country.
"Ummm, ah.... Are you happy living with Jeanne?" Valtor laughs a little and looks at Laeticia.
"Define 'happy' from your perspective?" Laeticia is confused but answers with determination in her eyes.
"Does Jeanne enjoy life with you?"
"Yes, she enjoys it despite how busy I am, and she's busy too. Nonetheless, we enjoy each other's company." Laeticia is glad to hear Valtor's confession.
"But why do you look sad when I mention my wish?"
"Jeanne has a hard time fitting in, especially in today's era, unlike you, who was born in this era."
"I overlooked it. I should have asked for your opinion regarding that matter."
"No need, it's your wish. I shall respect it. Jeanne also prospers here."
"I see. I'm glad to hear that..." Laeticia fidgets. She wants to say something, but the words are stuck in her throat.
"What do you want to confess?" Laeticia's voice gets blocked by something. She doesn't know what, but she really wants to confess something.
"You seem tired. Let me take you to your room." Valtor takes Laeticia to her room, which is the same modern room and structure that she's familiar with.
"Have a good night." Valtor puts her bag near the wardrobe and walks away to the praying room.
"Wait..." Valtor closes the door, and Laeticia cannot say what she wants to confess.
When Jeanne possesses her, Jeanne tells her about an amazing person, a little bit of an asshole in attitude, but respectable and an honorable police officer who turned into someone today.
It genuinely interests her, especially Valtor's mystery. He says he cannot use magic, yet he can summon a Magical Sanctum full of magic tomes, scrolls, books, and artifacts unknown even to great mages like Morgan.
As Laeticia cannot sleep for the rest of the night, Jeanne sleeps like a baby in Valtor's bed.
Valtor has a meeting with angels and demons, with God and Satan present, to open the Pandora's Box.
"You should give back the cane." Valtor gives the cane back to Satan.
"It's hard to cast spells when I can't stop talking." He sits down, and angels with demons operate his eye back.
"But this time you don't need to. You should be able to cast magic now." Satan gives another injection to Valtor's Dragon Hand.
"Aw, it hurts." Valtor feels a sting in his hand.
"It's just devil power infusion. Treat it like Devil Trigger." Valtor is excited, but he must remain calm and composed with his new power.
"Angel?"
"Already infused it. You just need to accumulate the essence of sin and virtue. It can stack like Rage of Primordial." God answers Valtor's question. Valtor is glad for its benefits.
After the operation on his eye by the angel and demon, Valtor can now see as usual.
"Alright, all clear. No pun intended. And you should obtain that."
"Life Equation."
"Yeah, when you own that, complementing with Anti-life, Dominion will be obtained. And one more thing, Valtor, you should join the Subcategory Holy Grail War in this timeline." Valtor is excited and wants to know more about this Subspecies Grail War.
"Elaborate, some of you may not know it."
"After you tamper in the Apocrypha Timeline, the Mage's Association, the Holy Church, the Wandering Sea, and finally, some major influential persons in the world will try to come up with their own Holy Grail. How about you be the one who actually succeeds in creating the grail?" Valtor thinks about it. It's plausible; he indeed lost the war before, and the grail was destroyed, but that doesn't mean he cannot create a new one using the same method and procedure.
The Grail is the same as from Fate Zero, Fate Stay Night, and Grand Order. He just needs backup for it and enough magical reservoir to attain it.
"Hmmmm... perhaps that will be a great invitation and initiation. Why join when you can create one ? Thank you for the suggestion."
"Yes, you have plenty of time to prepare, and..." All of them, including Valtor, the angels, the demons, Satan, and even God, turned their attention towards the corridor where Laeticia stood, her eyes widened in awe and disbelief. In that moment, the veil between the mortal realm and the divine seemed to thin, allowing her a glimpse into a realm of existence she had only heard whispers of.
In the dimly lit church sanctuary, figures of all shapes and forms shimmered with an otherworldly radiance. Lesser demons prowled with an unsettling grace, their eyes glinting with infernal light. Satan himself stood tall and imposing, cloaked in shadows yet exuding an aura of power that seemed to bend reality itself. Angels, their wings spanning wide, emanated a celestial glow, their presence evoking a sense of ethereal beauty and purity. And above them all, God, the creator and overseer of all things, watched with a serene gaze that held the weight of infinite wisdom.
For Laeticia, who had only recently been introduced to the existence of magic and the supernatural, this sight was overwhelming. It was as if the entire universe had converged in this one moment, revealing its mysteries and complexities in a breathtaking display.
As she stood there, transfixed by the sight before her, a myriad of emotions coursed through her. Awe, fear, wonder, and a deep sense of humility washed over her in waves. It was a moment that transcended mere mortal comprehension, leaving her with a sense of her own insignificance in the grand existence in front of her.
In that sanctuary, amidst beings of unimaginable power and magnitude, Laeticia's perception of the world was forever changed and it left an indelible mark upon her soul. Though she may never fully understand the intricacies of the supernatural realm, this encounter would stay with her, a reminder of the boundless wonders that lay beyond the confines of mortal understanding.
"I see." Laeticia passes out, and Valtor catches her using telekinesis. She is carried to her room and sleeps soundly.
"Anyway, use the items from the treasure box properly" as Valtor open the box, there are 7 reward.
