Chapter 61 - who are you?

••• Audrey's semi-conscious place

It has been a while since Audrey had peace of mind, all she needed was for Dean to see herself from a better perspective.

She has always belittled herself, even though she still does, it wasn't as much as before. It wasn't easy living, knowing she would never be good enough, even for herself.

This place was the only place she came to find peace and quiet, to run away from the pain of reality and enjoy the comfort of the darkness.

She had promised Dean that she would improve herself in a better way, but scars are something very hard to fade.

Audrey laid flat on her back, her hands and legs spread wide apart.

"How long has it been?", she asked herself looking at nothing but darkness. She thought her conscience would have light, since she had improved her life a little, but it was nothing but pitch black.

"will I find courage, will I lay undead

searching for him?", she breathed a pained sigh. "the man named death".

"Looking for clues, his words left unsaid".

"i still remember the day that you left,

nothing felt clear".

"Fought for my health. It came a time, all I wanted was death".

"the love I have for you, will last till I'm dead.

I still remember when I cried nonstop on my bed.

my soul yearned for you, my body left unfed".

"you never called neither did you say hello,

the metallic stench of blood, yet I stayed mellow.

will I find courage, will I lay undead

searching for him?

the man named death", Audrey recited with so much pain and bitterness. It was easy because these were all she felt.

"Wow! What a soul touching poem", someone said.

It was neither her mom's nor her dad's voice, and it definitely didn't sound like Dean. The voice sounded like a woman.

"Who are you?", Audrey asked. Did her mind unlock another person, or was this someone she should be afraid of.

"How am I able to talk to you here?", Audrey asked. Before she could answer Audrey spoke,

"you know what? I don't care".

She was too tired to care, the voice was once she had never heard. Racking her brain wouldn't have helped.

"Don't you even want to know who I am?", she asked, her voice sounded a little closer.

Audrey was curious to know who she was, but didn't want a new problem in her head.

"I have enough problems in my life, I don't need another one. Since I can't see you in this darkness, I don't need to worry about who you are",Audrey replied.

"You seem to like this place, aren't you worried you might not make it back to the real world?", The unknown person asked.

Why did she care, whether Audrey made it out. Honestly Audrey didn't care if she made it out or not, what she did want was a life of peace, even if it meant she'd have to die.

"Nah".

"I can fix the light problem", the unknown person said, snapping her fingers. Immediately the place lit up.

Audrey didn't know whether to be in awe or to be scared. This wasn't an ordinary person, this definitely wasn't someone she knew.

"How did you do that?",Audrey asked curiously, sitting up quickly. If she couldn't light up her own conscious, how could she? Was she dead?.

Was she like Dean? A demon?, Audrey asked herself.

"You don't sound surprised", she said sitting beside Audrey.

Audrey immediately moved away from her, how did she get so close to me, and I didn't know?

The lady who sat beside her was a gorgeous young looking lady, she looked so familiar. She had dark brown hair, with pale light skin. Her green eyes was something Audrey couldn't ignore cause it glowed, not bright but not dim.

She wore a knee length sage green gown, with puff sleeves and barefoot

"Who are you?",Audrey asked, mesmerized by the beauty that sat beside her. But what she couldn't get out of her mind was the similarity, she looked so familiar but Audrey couldn't just place her pin where.

"You look like someone I know", Audrey said.

Audrey stared at her for a while, she looked closely at her eyes. those eyes, Audrey thought.

"Damaris!".

"I see you know my daughter", the woman said calmly. What did she mean by her daughter? Damaris never spoke anything about her mother before, and Audrey never bothered asking.

"Your daughter?", Audrey asked carefully, yet curious. "Who are you?".

Audrey knew Damaris's mother was dead, but to see her here was something else. The only dead people who visited her were her parents, Dean's still alive.

"I'm RoseMary, Damaris biological mother", she introduced herself.

"I was really sick at that moment, and I passed away".

"How and why are you here?", Audrey asked. Was this a coincidence, seeing Damaris's mom right in front of her

"I don't know how I got here, a few minutes ago I was in the house, the next minute I am here",.

"What do you mean in the house?", Audrey asked.

"I still wander through the house. I was really happy Dammy made a new friend that could protect her. It's just sad that I can't".

Audrey couldn't process this, so Damaris' Mom has always been wandering the house. She was dead but her soul hasn't departed yet.

"To cut the long story short, I'm not fully human. The part that died was my human side".

"What are you?", Audrey asked, deep down she knew the answer. She just needed a confirmation.

"I am part demon",she said.

I knew it!,Audrey exclaimed in her mind.

"Well not fully part demon. Reason my soul is still stagnant".

She was a demon, just like Dean, but why didn't she have white hair like he did. So what she's trying to say is her demon part is half, and she's not fully a half demon.

That meant Damaris was part demon too.

if she came to Audrey, that means her soul didn't rest in peace. Was she the helper of the dead?.

Audrey needed to know the whole story,if she wanted to know what to do next.

"I really want to know what happened, I have time", Audrey said.

"You actually don't, you're already showing signs of waking up. Another time", she said. Audrey was surprised by how she knew that.

"Please keep an eye on my little Dammy", Rosemary said with pleading eyes. Your little isn't that little anymore, Audrey thought.

"Marie is trying to kill her, she wants her son to inherit Lucaines' will ", She said. "If anything happens to Damaris, her son would be next in line".

"She killed me, now she's coming for my daughter".

Is that so?, Audrey asked herself. Audrey knew she was a skanky witch, but to stoop that low.

"I need you to take care of her, she is very naive and easily manipulated", she said, taking Audrey's hands.

"Why me? I mean Tyson is her cousin", Audrey asked puzzled. Doesn't he take care of her enough? She was just a stranger. Why was she leaving her daughter's safety in the hands of a stranger?

"I was sent to you for a reason. You aren't different from her", Rosemary said. Oh no. I'm way different from her, I'm not as gullible as she is, if that's what she meant.

"What do you mean?", Audrey asked, to clear her assumption.

"You don't know?", she asked.

"You're a Demon too, at that a special one".

"No", Audrey released her hand. "I can't be".

"Both my parents were human".

"I don't have an explanation for that, but this is all I know", Rose Mary said.

Everywhere suddenly started to dim, Audrey wanted to ask more questions but time wasn't on her side.

"Please help my Dammy", her last words before I finally woke up.
