They deployed fake supply convoys to confuse the enemy, arranged strongmen to ambush in the dark, and took similar measures for retaliatory strikes...
Unfortunately, while the plans were good, the results were not very satisfactory.
The whereabouts of the Sanctuary Powerhouses were unpredictable, and there was no way to know in advance; their ambushes were sudden.
No matter how well an ambush was set, it would only work if the enemy happened to walk into it.
The problem was that the number of strongmen was limited; the attackers could strike randomly, but the defenders couldn't cover every place.
