Colin looked at the last window on the left wing of the 3rd floor of the inn. The lights were off, but he knew the little family living there were not asleep.
He knew from experience that sleep will be elusive. Most especially if fear had already been installed in their overall being
There was a soft whine beside him. He looked down to see Fall beside him. His father's mutt was rubbing his face on his leg, as if he was asking him something.
"You can feel it too, boy?" He asked, giving the dog a gentle pat on its head. "Same here, old boy, same here."
The light on the room he was looking at turned on, and the curtain moved. Two small heads peeked outside. The twins were wide awake.
As to why, Colin was sure they were looking for him. If not him, and it would be the mutt beside him.
From a distance, he saw them smile and with some little movements, the twins were gone.
Colin shook his head and waited for them.
"Uncle Colin!"
