(1st Person POV)
It was my turn next.
I got to the starting line. I channeled energy throughout my body. I was able to cover my feet with a thick amount of energy, creating an armor-like haze around my feet. And then distributed the energy, I usually would focus on my arms around the rest of my body instead, to cover it with a weaker lightning coat. I do that to make sure I don't injure myself while running.
(A/N: think of Luck from black clover, but just the feet)
That's the closest thing I currently have to Godspeed, or Raikage's lightning chakra cloak.
I looked at the conductor, indicating that I was ready.
The signal went off.
I took off, but not too fast, or I'll miss the targets.
The first target was to my right, I felt it with my observation haki before I saw it with my eyes, which made me understand just how op observation haki is.
I sent a punch towards the target, but I missed the bullseye by just an inch.
I didn't think about it too much and continued running.
The next target was also to my right, but just as I was about to kick it, I felt another target coming from my left. So instead of kicking, I punched and then twisted my body, sending a kick to the other target. The moment my foot touched the target, it was completely destroyed.
I kept running while I focused as much as I could on the targets under the ground coming up. It was a bit of a challenge to filter the information I was getting with my observation haki, but after years of using it constantly, I was able to go through the course without any issues.
I finished the course in about three and a half minutes. I could feel the adrenaline rush from using my abilities. As someone who lived in a world where superpowers were just a fantasy, using them was so thrilling.
(3rd Person POV)
Aska stood at the finish line, looking at the course and the aftermath behind him.
'I want to do more, I want to unlock more of my abilities. I want to move at the speed of lightning. I want to drop 200 million volts attacks, I want to learn armament and advanced armament haki, I want to use advanced observation, and I want to do a lot of other things. I know I have potential, I know I can do it' Aska thought as he felt the rush of using power.
"You did great, Aska!!" He could hear his mom shouting from the sidelines.
Just as he was walking towards her, the boy who could increase the temperature of his body approached him.
"Wow, that was cool, I never saw anyone our age who could do this course this quickly!" Said the boy
"Thanks, it was nothing special really," Aska said with a smile as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Ohh, sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Luka Burns."
"Nice to meet you, my name is Aska Minamoto. If you don't mind me asking, what is your quirk? I saw you go through the course before me."
"I can increase the temperature of my body," Luka shrugged his shoulders
'I figured that much,' thought Aska as he looked at the boy for more, but the boy didn't add more.
Luka was a nice boy; he and Aska chatted for some time, talking about each other's quirks.
Seeing him talking with someone his age, Aska's Mom didn't interrupt; she just stood looking at them with a gentle smile on her face.
"Do you also want to be a hero, Luka?" -Aska
"I do. So you also want to be a hero, figures. You will be a strong hero. Where do you want to study? I want to go to Atlas Hero Academy in America. What about you?" Luka asked excitedly.
"I want to go to UA, it's the best after all" -Aska
Aska chatted with Luka for half an hour about a bunch of things.
'I never thought I could hold a conversation with someone this young for this long without getting bored,' thought Aska as he looked at his new friend.
"Hey Aska, do you want to try the other courses?" Luka pointed further into the park.
"Yeah, let's go."
"Oh, by the way, the next one I'll get first place," Luka ran towards the next course.
"No way, I'll do better than you!" Aska ran after him
Aska, for some reason, felt comfortable talking with Luka.
The two of them went through all the courses available for younger people, which were about 15 courses in total. Aska was generally faster than Luka, but Luka had stronger hits.
After hours of playing around, the two decided to get something to eat.
"Hey mom can we get some food?" Aska ran towards his mom, who was always following them but not interrupting. Who was currently standing at the sideline of the last course.
When he got closer, he could see another woman with jet black hair who looked to be in her mid-thirties talking with his mom.
Seeing him come closer, she called to him, "Come here, Aska, say hi."
"Umm… hello, ma'am. My name is Aska, nice to meet you."
"Hello Aska, I'm Luka's mother. My name is Serena Burns. I hope you kids had fun." The lady with jet black hair, Serena, greeted back.
"Yeah, we did, but I'm hungry. Mom, can we get something to eat?" This time it was Luka who answered, approaching from behind me.
"Luka, how many times do I have to remind you to introduce yourself first?" said Serena to Luka, reminding him to introduce himself to Aska's Mom.
"Yes, right, sorry ma'am. My name is Luka Burns. It's my pleasure to meet you," Luka said to Aska's mom, who chuckled, "How cute, it's a pleasure to meet you too, Luka."
After introductions, all four went and had lunch together. They were hungry from all that activity.
After lunch, it was time for Aska and his mom to go to showroom 13 since it was almost time for the viewing.
Since he didn't have a phone or an email, he made sure to write down Luka's email address on a piece of paper.
"I'll make an email when I get back to the hotel room, and will send you an email, so that we can stay in touch," Aska said to Luka as the moms said goodbye to each other.
[On the way to the viewing venue]
(1st Person POV)
"Hey Aska, did you have fun today?" My mom asked suddenly
"Yeah, why do you ask?"
"It's just you never looked so happy interacting with someone your age before."
"Luka is nice, and he doesn't sound stupid like the other kids." I just shrugged my shoulders
Mom looked at me for a few seconds. She seemed to be thinking about reprimanding me for calling other kids stupid, but ultimately shrugged her shoulders as well. She agrees, other kids are dumb.
Mom and I walked towards our destination while chatting about random stuff.
When we got there, the show had just started, but I don't think we missed anything important.
There were just as many people as yesterday.
This time, fewer gadgets really interested me.
The first was an arm guard, which could store impacts and hits it receives and turn into Kinetic energy, and then release that energy in the form of a shockwave. It could store a certain amount, and of course, the more energy it stores, the bigger the impact created.
The second gadget was a cape, which was a perfect insulator, could take a hit from a machine gun without any damage, floats on water, and is resistant to fire.
The last and most awesome gadget was a mask. The mouth part was retractable. The eye part had night vision, heat vision, a recording camera, and the ear part had radio comms, with the ability to switch between channels with different wavelengths. The mouth part acts as a gas mask.
'I'll get one of those for sure.'
After a long viewing, I got to try the mask.
It's every bit as exciting as it sounded.
It can even record people's facial features and voices, and identify them later.
"Dad, can we get one of those masks. I really like it."
"Well, Aska, I don't think it will be mass-produced. You see, this one in particular is a concept to showcase our ability. It's not something that will be sold in the market." Dad shook his head.
"What do you mean?" I looked at my dad, confused
"It's to attract big heroes who are looking for custom pieces; we are just letting them know what options they could have when they commission us for equipment."
"Can you get one for me anyway? I never ask for anything, please," I tried to put on my best puppy eyes.
Looking at my eyes dad couldn't resist. "Ok, I'll see what I can do. But these gadgets will be a waste to give to you now. How about I'll try to get it for you when you enter UA. Most likely, it would get upgraded by the time you get to that point."
"I thought you said it was just to show off."
"That's true, we try to show off our technology with a big project like that, once every few years or so."
After the show, we went for dinner, and then we walked around the island. We ran into a few pro heroes from all over the world, and we got some pictures and autographs. We did some shopping and then went back to the hotel.
