The night sky is clear tonight, a half-moon hanging above the deep blue expanse, casting a gentle light over the vast grassland.
Ling Chengyan opened the door, and was greeted by the sight of a wolf, a large, sturdy wolf.
This was the lead wolf from last night.
Ling Chengyan tightened her grip on the weapon in her hand. The lead wolf also noticed the weapon, and became noticeably more wary, its body slightly tensed, ready to either retreat or attack at any moment.
Ling Chengyan placed her weapon by the door, spread her empty hands as a sign, and slowly walked towards the lead wolf at the courtyard entrance.
The lead wolf remained almost motionless, and Ling Chengyan also made little noise, unnoticed by others, except for the restless horses in the stable that were stamping the ground and snorting softly.
As Ling Chengyan walked closer, the lead wolf shook its head and turned away to leave.
Ling Chengyan hesitated but followed.
