"Miss Don!"
"Knock, knock, knock!"
"Miss Don!"
"Knock, knock, knock!"
"Miss Don!"
"Knock, knock, knock!"
This was James's unique way of knocking on the door – three knocks followed by a shout, repeating relentlessly until someone came out, leaving Elise Don feeling quite helpless.
Her nap was cruelly interrupted.
Wearing only her calf-length socks, she didn't have time to put on shoes before she ran over to open the door, saying, "Mr. Xu, can't you be a bit quieter? With that kind of shouting, my neighbors might think I owe money to loan sharks."
James's surname was Xu, first name Zhen, but he preferred his English name. Hearing Elise Don call him by his real name, he frowned, "Miss Don, you do owe me, have you forgotten our library meeting? I waited for you for two hours, and you were nowhere to be seen. I thought you were abducted by aliens!"
James boldly walked in. Today, he wasn't glued to Tom, which slightly surprised Elise Don.
