Cora stepped close and placed her hand on his arm. Arthur took a single step forward.
But that step didn't cover just a few feet. Space folded around them, compressing the distance between their current location and their destination. The volcanic landscape blurred and vanished.
*Whoosh!*
They reappeared thousands of miles away in an instant.
The scenery had changed completely. Instead of volcanic mountains and lava, they now stood in a dense forest.
Massive trees stretched toward the sky, their trunks thick enough that ten people couldn't wrap their arms around them. The canopy overhead was so dense it blocked out most of the sunlight, creating a perpetual twilight atmosphere.
Cora looked around in amazement. "We crossed that entire distance in a single step?"
"Spatial abilities are quite useful," Arthur said simply.
Cora didn't pry to know beyond that and Arthur didn't explain further.
