The dragon shifted its massive body. More of it became visible as it moved. Wings were folded against its sides, each one large enough to cover an entire city.
Claws the size of houses dug into the stone floor. A tail that seemed to have no end disappeared back into the darkness.
"Nothing to say?" the dragon asked. "Where is that arrogant emperor who dared to cage me? Have you lost your spine along with your cultivation?"
Arthur finally spoke. His voice was quiet but carried clearly through the space.
"I came to see if you had reconsidered my offer."
The dragon laughed. The sound was deep and echoing, filling the entire underground chamber. Its laughter shook the walls and made dust fall from the ceiling high above.
"Your offer?" The dragon's eyes narrowed dangerously. "You mean your attempt to enslave me? To bind me as your tamed beast like some common spirit animal?"
Arthur's expression didn't change. He simply waited for the dragon to finish speaking.
