Lucy Ansley didn't know Henry Ronan had been there all along. Upon hearing his playful tease, she couldn't help but chuckle: "Why didn't you call me?"
The man raised his hand and patted her lower back, "Whether I call you or not, we'll meet. Is there a vase at home?"
"I'll go look for one."
Lucy stood up to search for a vase. Having just returned, she was still getting acquainted with the room layout, and many things she wasn't sure where they were placed.
After searching around without success, she wandered into the kitchen and quietly asked William Ansley, who was standing next to her, "Dad, is there a vase at home?"
William glanced sideways, his gaze landing on Lucy's face, and said half-smilingly: "Does meeting him make you so happy? Your lips are practically curling to heaven."
Lucy: "..."
She clasped her hands behind her back, forcing her lips down, "No... don't talk nonsense."
