Chapter 22 - Chapter 21: Done Well

The people had come around and proceeded with their lives as if the mass fainting was normal. Susan and the rest found an unused house of sorts. They made up their mind to make the house a sort of secret enclosure to meet up and plan.

The rooms were already clean, with the sofa, chairs, tables and other amenities completely unused and pristine. Though sceptical, Jaxon persuaded them to keep the house. Luckily the house was big enough to encompass them and about seven more people. (Quite a big house)

After half an hour of sprucing up the rooms, they met at the hall of the building.

"Who knew such a place was here?" Siera said as she sat on the clean blue sofa. The rest grunted in agreement as they sat down as well.

"So, how long has it been since we left school?" Jaxon asked as he lay on the biggest sofa in the hall. Hearing his question the girls sat upright as guilt filled them.

After waiting a while but hearing no response, Jaxon glanced at the girls on his left. Looking at their guilty countenance he asked, "What? Did I say something wrong?"

His handsome face held a perplexed look. "Nothing, don't worry about it," Susan hurriedly dismissed.

Siera rolled a few strands of her long brown hair around her finger as she answered Jaxon's previous question, "It's been three weeks and two days. The first two weeks we used to adapt to the forest, and one week was used when we tried getting out of the forest. The second was yesterday and the first day was..." Siera stopped halfway into the explanation, her eyebrows crumpled, more guilt between them.

The other girls looked in different directions with the same expression as before.

"This is less thrilling than I assumed," Akel sat on a table in a laboratory, her long legs dangled as she sighed lethargy.

The laboratory was big enough to hold five monster trucks. The walls were entirely made of metal but unlike the usual metallic silver, the walls were a calming white. Giving the lab an eerily desolate feel. Just like the room January was kept in large tubes were everywhere.

After watching the Scientists walkabout for a few more minutes, she walked to the other room stationed beside this room. Entering, the room looked exactly like the room she was previously in. Looking around, she saw no other person before she turned to look at her shadow on the wall.

"What do you want?" Her smiling mouth opened slightly as her cold voice echoed throughout the room. Her shadow suddenly dropped onto one knee as a cool voice replied, "Your Majesty, I am sorry for my tardiness. I have gathered the information you needed."

"Ah, you must be the shadow guard January talked about,"

"Yes, Your Majesty, I am."

Looking at her kneeling shadow Akel commanded, "Come out of my shadow. No shadow of mine should kneel to anyone or anything, even me. Plus staying in my shadow for long periods can kill you."

Without listening for a reply, Akel moved back till her shadow was on the floor. The shadow darkened as a slender figure slowly emerged. The figure still kneeled as her curly midnight-coloured hair framed her gentle face. Her dark skin glowed abnormally, along with cold fiery sliver eyes.

"What is your name?"

"Cheyenne Auclair leader of the shadow demons," Cheyenne's cool voice swiftly answered.

"Auclair as in decendent of Rhory Auclair of the shadow demons?" Akel asked as her eyebrows shot up. Seeing her nod Akel's smile deepened.

'January, you did well,"
