The sound of footsteps continued and grew closer, while inside the room, Koichi Kojima held his breath in tension.
Suddenly, Ooishi snapped to his senses. He snatched the chicken that Kojima was holding and placed it at the entrance of the room before prodding it with the black tripod of the camera.
"Cluck cluck—" The chicken immediately walked out from the room, leisurely stretching its claws and ambling left and right towards Jiang Shu, who was approaching.
"So it's you." Jiang Shu squatted down, looked at the chicken, then grabbed it and set it aside. He glanced into the darkness behind the room but didn't proceed further; instead, he turned and walked towards the bed.
"Whew—" Inside the room, both Koichi Kojima and Ooishi let out a long sigh of relief, their tense emotions instantly easing, and their entire beings relaxed as if completely.
They didn't know why they felt such inexplicable fear.
