Chapter 46 - MR. LANGLEY

I stood frozen, my termination letter clutched tightly in my hand. The sound of Josh and Emily's pleas filled the air as they begged Me Langley to reconsider. "Please, Mr. Langley, don't do this! We'll work harder, we'll do anything!" Josh's voice was desperate, while Emily's sobs echoed through the room.

I felt a lump form in my throat as I watched them, but I didn't join in. Instead, I took a deep breath, wiped the tears from my eyes, and walked out of the conference room with what I hoped was dignity.

, my mind reeling. I couldn't believe it was happening. The termination letter felt like a weight in my hand, the words blurring together on the page.

As I walked past Ace and his father, I didn't even register their presence. My thoughts were consumed by the reality of my situation. I was unemployed. I felt numb, like I was walking through a dream.

I could feel their eyes on me, but I didn't look up. I didn't beg like the others. I just kept walking, my feet carrying me forward on autopilot.

I passed them, my shoulder almost brushing against Aec's suit. I didn't even flinch. I was too lost in my own thoughts, too caught up in the uncertainty of my future.

As I walked away, I felt a sense of disconnection, like I was observing myself from outside my body. I didn't know what came next, but I knew I had to keep moving.

I walked into the office, my eyes fixed on the floor. I didn't say a word, just collapsed into my chair. Tia and Gabriel rushed in after me, concern etched on their faces.

"Sharon, oh my god, what happened?" Tia asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I didn't respond. I just sat there, staring blankly ahead.

Gabriel placed a hand on my shoulder. "Sharon, we're here for you."

I still didn't react. Tia's eyes widened as she took in my expression. "Sharon, sweetie, talk to us. I know this is hard but please don't think everything end's here?"

Gabriel's voice was soft. "We saw Josh and Emily begging...you should have...?"

I cut him off, my voice low and detached. "I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT. JUST LEAVE ME ALONE."

The room fell silent. Tia's eyes filled with worry, while Gabriel's expression turned sympathetic.

"Okay, Sharon, we'll just...we'll just sit here with you, okay?" Tia said softly.

I didn't respond. I just sat there, my mind numb, my eyes fixed on some point in front of me.

As I sat in my office, I saw Ace walk past the doorway, his long strides eating up the distance to his own office. Our eyes met for a brief moment, and I felt a spark of emotion. But before I could process it, he turned his face away, his expression neutral.

He didn't acknowledge me, didn't even nod in my direction. It was as if I was just a ghost hovering in the hallway.

I felt a pang of...something. Disappointment? Anger? I didn't know. All I knew was that I had expected more from him, especially after everything that had just happened. But I guess I was wrong. Aec would never cease to be Aec.

I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself. The scent of my tears wafted up, and I felt a fresh wave of emotion. I forced a weak smile, trying to reassure Tia and Gabriel. "I'm okay, stuff like this happens."

I began clearing my desk, my movements mechanical. Tia and Gabriel watched me silently, their eyes filled with concern. After a few moments, I spoke up, my voice laced with a hint of vulnerability. "Yeah, or should I help? You don't like me that much, huh?"

Tia and Gabriel exchanged a glance, and then they sprang into action, helping me clear my desk. We worked in silence, the only sound heard were the rustling of papers and the occasional clink of objects being placed into boxes.

When we finished, Tia and Gabriel stood back, surveying the empty desk. I nodded, feeling a sense of finality. "I guess that's it."

As we walked out of the office, the silence was oppressive. Everyone watched us, their faces somber but somehow I still felt they were pleased with the fact that I was terminated. I kept my head held high, trying to maintain some semblance of dignity.

Just as we were about to leave, Beatrice approached me, a concerned expression on her face. "Sharon, I'm so sorry. I didn't expect things to go down like this."

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by her words. "Don't worry Beatrice, I'll be fine?"

Beatrice glanced around nervously before leaning in. "Those plans against you? I didn't think they'd move so quickly. I'm sorry you got caught in the crossfire."

I just smiled weakly, her words hinting like she knew something " Is there something you'd like to tell me?"

" We are still friend's Sharon, I'll keep you updated on whatever"

I nodded my head and from here I had to leave without Tia, Gabriel and Beatrice.

I stepped out of the office building, the cool breeze hitting me like a slap in the face. I didn't bother looking back, didn't bother wondering what everyone was thinking. I just kept walking, my eyes fixed on the pavement ahead.

As I turned a corner, I saw him standing by the entrance, his eyes fixed on his phone. Mr. Langley. My heart skipped a beat as our eyes met, but he didn't flinch. He didn't even acknowledge me. Just nodded to himself, still typing away on his phone but I expected nothing, he was wealthy.

I walked past him, that was the only way I could use and he would probably not deprive me of that. He didn't move, didn't react. Just kept typing. I felt a surge of anger, but I pushed it down. I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction.

"You're really something, Langley," I muttered under my breath, not looking back.

"Miss Sharon" for a minute I thought I heard Aec's voice but it wasn't his, the voice cold and demeaning, just mentioning my name.

I turned back and standing closer to him I saw the resemblance...

"Like father, just like son" I muttered low smiling at him
