Chapter 35 - MESSY

THIRD PERSON POV

The luxurious house was quiet, its opulent decor and polished marble floors reflecting the refined taste of its occupants. In the living room, Aec stepmother is seen, sat elegantly on a plush sofa, sipping tea with Zion.

Zion set his cup down and stood up. "I should get going," he said, his voice low and smooth.

Mrs. Camila nodded, a hint of a smile on her lips. "It was lovely seeing you, Zion. "

Zion's expression softened slightly "I'll pass along the message," he said, before turning to leave.

" Tell him it's Camila Langley" she adds hyping herself

As he departed, a young man with a charming smile and chiseled features walked in. "Hey, Mom," he said, dropping a kiss on her cheek.

"Tory, dear," she said, her voice warm. "I didn't expect you so soon."

Tory grinned. "I was in the neighborhood, so I thought I'd drop by."

Just then, Diana, walked in with Beatrice, "Hello, Mrs. Langley ," Diana said, her voice friendly. "We didn't know you had company."

Then she calls out "Tory" smiling

" You just keep glowing, my brother is lucky" he tries to tease her then he turns to his mother

 "I'll leave now Mom"

Mrs. Langleys expression turned cold

"What brings you both here, I hope it's not something that will destroy my mood?"

Diana and Beatrice exchanged a glance before Beatrice spoke up. "Not particularly ma."

Mrs Langley looks at her irritated "And who is she" her eyes tracing beatrice all over like she was smelling

"She's the one I placed as a tail on Sharon at work"

Mrs Langley still looks at her weirdly

"Does she get the work done?" Now she face Diana

" Yes" Diana nods in affirmation.

" So that sharon girl is the hindrance now!"

Mrs. Langley's expression turned thoughtful. "When we are done I'm sure she'll be back to her usual self soon." She smirk

The conversation flowed easily, but beneath the surface, a different story was brewing. As they chatted, it became clear that they were all focused on discussing Sharon's end

As Mrs. Langley and her guests continued their conversation, the atmosphere in the room grew thick with tension. Diana and Beatrice exchanged knowing glances, their expressions hinting at the sinister plans brewing beneath the surface.

Mrs. Langley leaned back in her chair, her eyes narrowing as she spoke. "I want to make sure Sharon understands her place. She's been getting too comfortable, too confident, maybe the accident she had a while back was not enough. It's time we remind her who's in charge."

Diana nodded in agreement. "I've been working on a plan, Mrs. Langley. With Beatrice's help, we can make sure Sharon's tarnished beyond repair."

Beatrice smiled, her eyes glinting with malice. "I've been gathering evidence, ma'am. Enough to make sure Sharon's career is over."

Mrs. Langley's expression turned calculating. "Good. I want to see her destroyed. I want her to know that she's not welcome in this company, that she's nothing but a mere pawn in the game."

" She's too low for us to even sit and plan against"

The conversation continued, the words dripping with venom and spite. It was clear that Sharon's fate was sealed, and that nothing would stop Mrs. Langley and her cohorts from bringing her down.

Meanwhile Maxie sat at a café, sipping her coffee and staring at her ex-boyfriend with disdain. He looked different, more pathetic than she remembered.

"Hey, Max," he said, his voice hesitant. "Can we talk?"

Max raised an eyebrow. "What's there to talk about, Jake? You stood me up on our anniversary, and now you want to talk?"

Jake launched into a lengthy explanation, but Max wasn't having it. She checked her watch, her expression unimpressed.

As Jake continued to talk, Max's eyes began to glaze over. She was done with him, done with the drama and the lies, done with the abuse

He moves to sit closer to Maxie, her countenance change, her expression emitting fear

"Don't start here, Jake" her eye roaming the cafe asking for help

"Start what honey"

Just as Jake was about to touch her arm, a tall, imposing figure appeared out of nowhere. "Is everything okay here?" he asked, his voice firm.

Max smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude. "Yeah, everything's fine. Just a conversation with my ex." She wasn't going to cause a scene

The stranger's eyes narrowed. "I can leave if you'd like."

Max shook her head. "No, it's okay. I think we're done here."

As they walked away from the café, Max felt a sense of relief wash over her but when they get to a rather silent field she breaks down crying, bent and her head facing the ground. She was shaking so seriously, the stranger just stood there watching her, after a little time he takes her to sit at a bench . She told the stranger about her toxic relationship, about the emotional abuse and manipulation.

The stranger listened attentively, his expression sympathetic. "You deserve better than someone like that," he said.

Max felt a lump form in her throat. "I know. It's just...it's hard to get out of it."

The stranger nodded. "I know. But you're strong. You can do it."

The guy looks at her for a second " wait here I am coming"

But before he got back Maxie was gone, she was walking away feeling too weak but now more cheerful than when she was with the stranger.

"Awwww... "She pulled her hair out a little feeling embarrassed

"Why did I crash out In front of a stranger like that" she rubbed on her head where she pulled earlier. "A fine shit nigga at that" she continued talking to herself and some people passing looked at her weirdly

"I won't see him again, and even if I do he won't remember my face" she smiled then stops briefly

" Ohhh no Max.... You are too pretty to be forgotten bae " she gave out a slight scream, she pulled out her phone with Sharon's number displaying on the screen

"No no no... I'll tell her to her face"

She was going to start by telling Sharon everything.
