"Jaaakeee!" Aurora called out, stressing his name and pouting like a little child.Jake chuckled, clearly amused. "Hey, calm down, baby. I know you were just lying… You just didn't want me to suck the breath out of you with that kiss."Aurora rolled her eyes, flustered. "That's enough. Can we go now?"
Angel leaned in with a teasing smile. "I'll ride with Maxwell. Aurora, you're riding with Jake? "Yeah," Aurora said, giving a slight nod.
"Okay then. Meet you at the restaurant. Jake, have you already booked the place?"
Jake shrugged coolly. "I don't need to. My company owns a private lounge there we're having lunch there."
"Oooh okay," Angel grinned, clearly impressed.Jake turned to Aurora, holding out his hand. "Aurora, give me your hand?"
She smirked and pulled her hand away. "No, I won't."Jake let out a low chuckle. "So, you're trying to be stubborn, huh?" Before she could blink, Jake had wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her in with such force, she gasped.
"Ahh!" Aurora squealed, wide-eyed. "That was fast! "Jake! Let go—we're in public!"
"I asked nicely," he said, smirking. "You refused. And anyway, we're engaged people can think whatever they want. I don't care."
His tone turned unexpectedly serious, almost possessive. That edge in his voice sent a shiver down her spine."Okay, fine," Aurora mumbled, still blushing. He finally let go as they walked to the car. Like a true gentleman, Jake opened the car door for her. She paused before getting in, a strange feeling gnawing at her gut.Her eyes scanned the area. That gaze again.Someone was watching them.Who is that? She turned subtly, but whoever it was had already disappeared.Should she tell Jake?
No… not now. It might be nothing. But this feeling… it's too strong to ignore.Still, with Jake by her side, she felt untouchable.
In the car, Jake couldn't stop poking fun, teasing her every chance he got.Aurora ignored his antics, pretending to scroll through her phone, though she couldn't hide the occasional smirk.
The drive was smooth—calm, until…
"Sigh…" she let out a long breath as they neared the restaurant.Jake glanced at her. "Did you enjoy the ride?" he asked, his voice slightly concerned at her sigh."Absolutely," she replied coolly. "Especially because you weren't the one driving."Jake's jaw dropped dramatically. "What?! Are you trying to say I'm a bad driver?"
"I never said that," she replied with a playful smirk, "but you and I both know it's true. Honestly, I still wonder who gave you your license."Jake stared at her, stunned. "Aurora…"
She rolled her eyes, stepped out of the car, and joined Angel and Maxwell at the restaurant entrance.Jake followed, still lost in thought."Hey! Earth to Jake!" Maxwell snapped his fingers in front of him.
Jake blinked. "Am I a bad driver?"
Maxwell looked confused. "What???"
Jake placed a hand on his waist, dead serious. "Am I?" "Who told you that?"
"Aurora," he muttered. "And I hate to admit it… but she's usually right."
Maxwell burst into laughter. "Then she's wrong this time. You're not a bad driver. She's just pulling your leg. She even asked who gave me my license? Really? Man, don't take it seriously." Just then, Aurora reached for Jake's hand."Jake, can we go inside now?" she smiled.
As they walked toward the entrance, Aurora's heel slipped slightly on the marble floor.
"Whoa!" she gasped, gripping Jake's arm tighter for balance."Babe, are you okay?" he asked, alarmed."Yes, I'm fine. Just that—"
Suddenly, her knees buckled. Her vision blurred. And everything went black.
"Aurora!"
Jake dropped to his knees and caught her just in time. Her limp body collapsed into his arms."Aurora, wake up—please! Don't do this to me!" he shouted, shaking her gently but urgently.Maxwell rushed over, his face pale. "What happened?!"
"I—I don't know! She just fainted—" Jake's voice cracked, his panic rising."Jake… Look!" Angel cried out in horror.Blood.It was trickling from Aurora's nose."Oh my God." Jake's eyes widened. "She's bleeding—why is she bleeding?!"
"Don't just stand there! Somebody call an ambulance!" he shouted."I'm on it!" Angel said, already dialing.Jake cradled Aurora closer to his chest, brushing the hair out of her face, his voice cracking with desperation."Come on, baby… stay with me… Please don't leave me now…"
