"Spill it honestly! Did you deliberately leave me out and go have fun by yourself?"
Lin Wan jerked forcefully, making Lu Zheng gasp for air, and she almost couldn't hold back herself.
"I'm innocent!" Lu Zheng stretched out both hands to steady the bowl and regain his balance.
"I finished my business at noon and was about to get a hamburger and head back when, wouldn't you know it, I ran into a white cop enforcing the law on a black guy."
Lu Zheng said helplessly, "I was just watching the commotion from a shop across the street, very far away, and yet two cops came in to buy burgers and just had to ask me for ID."
Lin Wan scoffed, "You must have acted too calm."
No wonder she's a detective; she guessed it right on the spot, so Lu Zheng could only nod and admit, "I really couldn't lie down flat on the ground."
The amusement in Lin Wan's eyes deepened, and she twisted her waist heavily.
