Late Afternoon, the sky was completely dark.
To the west of Pingtan County, apart from a stretch of official road winding through small hills, both sides were desolate mountains and wilderness. Even as Lu Zheng squinted to observe, shadowy figures loomed, and the sounds of wolves howling and crows cawing faintly reached his ears.
About seven or eight miles west of the city, a dirt path branched off from the official road, extending northwards towards a mountain, leading directly to the long-abandoned Jiming Temple from over a decade ago.
"The official road west of the city makes a big circle. This small path also has an exit in the northwest side. For towns traveling to Pingtan County, it's actually closer by this path, with the nearest point to Jiming Temple being less than two miles away. This is why many locals experience strange occurrences at Jiming Temple," Yuan Jing explained.
