"We swept the perimeter, Mr. Alvin," reported the team leader's voice, Arga. "No intruders were found. Only this device." The voice paused briefly. "It was a distraction. A high-quality wireless speaker installed in the trees, and a sophisticated signal jammer that shut down our system for a short time. They… they studied our system. They knew its weaknesses."
Alvin cursed inwardly. Riana was not just a smart secretary; she was a meticulous student who had studied every inch of his defenses.
"Raise security to the highest level. Rotate all protocols. Assume every plan we have has been compromised," Alvin ordered.
"Already done, sir."
Alvin hung up the phone and took a deep breath. He turned to Audia, whose face was still wet with tears. "We're safe for now."
"Are we?" Audia whispered, her voice hollow. "She's everywhere, Alvin. She knows everything."
"We'll find a way to fight her," said Alvin, trying to reassure himself as much as Audia.
