Surrounded by ten Tieflings, Ren didn't panic. His calm eyes were locked not on his enemies, but on the small creature happily floating nearby.
Pii flitted around him, chirping excitedly and pointing toward a stone statue in the middle of the ruins — completely oblivious to the danger around them.
Maybe it didn't sense the threat. Or maybe, just maybe, it knew that Ren could handle it.
"I'll look at it after I take care of this," Ren muttered, his voice flat and controlled.
He didn't have the luxury of avoiding a fight. The Tieflings had already surrounded him — an ambush. There was no escape, only combat.
Ren didn't waste time with [Probe]. He already knew what he was dealing with. Low-level Tieflings. No unique skills. No rare drops. Just a group of scavengers and thieves.
They weren't a challenge — only a delay.
Ren raised his staff, muscles tensing. The shadows of the ten Tieflings stretched long under the faint desert light. Then he moved.
A flicker.
A blur.
