Now that I had secured a firm, bloody grip over the situation on my deck, the time for defensive play was over. It was time to drive my mighty chariot straight into the heart of that damned castle, reach the World Gate, and shut both of them down for good.
Of course, I didn't actually know the first thing about deactivating a World Gate. Those were complex tears in the fabric of reality, usually anchored by high-level artefacts or sacrificial rituals. But as the wind whipped through my hair, I decided it was high time I learned.
Or, to be more precise, I didn't just want to destroy it. I wanted to control it.
I hadn't come all this way just to liberate a city or stack up a few more kills. My eyes were on the prize: the Heroic Mission. To complete it, I needed to bring a World Gate under my wing. And there it was, standing erect and defiant against the sky, waiting for someone with enough ambition—and enough firepower—to claim it.
