"Are we seriously just keeping the gate wide open like this?"
A soldier leaning by the gate lit a cigarette, glanced at the sprawling gate, and remarked casually, "The bastards outside don't look like they're coming in anyway."
Beyond the vast and shadowy city gate faintly flickered scattered lights—those belonged to the heavy armored units stationed outside the city.
"Look,"
The soldier speaking raised his cigarette for emphasis, "those bastards even brought siege equipment."
"Stop calling them bastards,"
Another soldier nearby chimed in, "They're with us now."
He looked up at the wide-open gate and added, "Do you know why the boss insists on keeping it open?"
"Why?"
The smoking soldier leaned closer, ears perking up in curiosity.
"Hey, have you really not pieced it together yet?"
