We found Oliver surrounded by his council members in a grand meeting room with high ceilings and intricate statues of what I could only assume were past Alphas and other noteworthy members of the community. The lights were dim, and they all looked stern as they stood in a half circle facing us.
A couple of guards raised their weapons in a protective stance in front of the council.
Jasper stepped forward, pushing me behind him protectively. “Peace, brothers!” he called calmly, raising his hands to show that we meant no harm. “We are here merely to negotiate. We have had enough bloodshed. We fought together and continue to consider you our allies.”
Oliver tilted his chin slightly so he could glower down at us. “I’m afraid that we’re not so sure if the sentiment is mutual,” he said in a dark tone. “Those boys of Eva Stormfall are a grave threat to our pack, and if you are defending them, then I am afraid we cannot be allies.”
